"Yes, let me make a call, and I'll have someone bring it over right away." Ko Chen-hsiung knew he was at the mercy of the corrupt police and dared not confront them directly.
Zhang Jinrong looked at the big boss, received a response, smiled and walked forward, grabbed Ke Zhenxiong's other ear and cut it off: "Which star did you pick? In the middle of the night, where are you going to find a phone? If you don't want to live, just say so."
"Ouch, ouch, don't cut, don't cut!" Ke Zhenxiong cried out in pain, moving his legs and shrinking back against the rock: "Damn it, damn it, a bunch of crazy devils."
“I have a safe in Room 03, 8th Floor, Block A, Tak Tin Estate, Lam Tin. The gold bars inside are worth more than five million, and can easily be sold for two million on the black market.”
"Once I'm in Stanley, I still have to keep my word after I take the money. Don't kill me!"
Zhang Jinrong wiped his knife, his expression cold, a smile playing on his lips: "You know my nickname is 'Crazy Guy'? Hehe, I'll definitely keep my word and won't kill you."
"Okay, okay." Ke Zhenxiong let out a breath, his tense nerves had just relaxed when he was startled again by the rustling sound of his feet stepping on the leaves.
With a gun slung across his chest, Ma Delong picked up a stone with both hands, silently walked forward, and smashed it on Ko Chen-hsiung's head.
Bang.
A solid, muffled thud.
His head was caved in, and blood splattered everywhere.
He Li was shocked: "Old Ma, what are you doing? Are you crazy?!"
On Ma Delong's simple and unassuming face, ambition emerged. He picked up a stone again and shouted, "Two million is enough. Whether it's real or fake, no one can be left alive."
"Hurry up and come help! If we can take down Da Dong, we can all stay in the Major Crimes Unit and work with Brother Sheng."
"You bastard, what are you standing there for? Do you want Brother Sheng to do it himself?"
He Li and Liu Yida suddenly realized what was going on. Driven by the money, one grabbed a wooden stick and the other grabbed a piece of gravel, and rushed forward to beat Ke Zhenxiong wildly.
A few minutes later, Ko Chen-hsiung, covered in wounds, lay on the ground, lifeless, his face etched with deep despair.
After throwing away the stone, Liu Yida muttered to himself, "A gangster, he deserves to die, no problem, no problem."
Lin Tiansheng put his hands on Liu Yida and He Li's shoulders, looked at the corpse, and comforted them, "We're all in this together, whether we're working for the police or stealing, it's always the same old story: life and death are preordained, wealth and honor are determined by fate."
"I understand." Liu Yida lowered his head, his heart churning with turmoil.
Lin Tiansheng waved his hand, his expression cold: "Get out of here. Don't worry about the body. Don't touch the gold necklace or the gold watch on him."
"Afterwards, we found out that we tried to pin the blame on other soldiers, but some people suspected it and we couldn't find any evidence. As for the money, wait for my call tomorrow, and we'll all go look for it together. Everyone will have to see it with their own eyes."
"Regardless of whether it was found or not, or how much was found, it will be divided into six parts."
When Ma Delong, Liu Yida, and the others heard that the money would be divided equally, their faces lit up with joy, and they all nodded in unison: "Yes, sir!"
"Yes, Brother Sheng!"
Although dividing the money into six parts might seem like a loss of face for the big boss, it's actually the best way to win people's hearts, essentially giving Ma Delong and the other three a resettlement allowance.
This is their only chance for an equal split of profits; from now on, they will only be paid according to their contributions. Moreover, the money they get from Ko Chen-hsiung is at best a windfall, which can only temporarily alleviate their strained finances.
But windfall gains alone cannot gather all the remaining followers and make them obey his every command. There needs to be a continuous source of income to support them, and only then will they be as loyal to him as they were to Brother Lok back then.
Unexpected wealth is easy to come by, but finding a true path to riches requires careful planning. However, with the credit for taking down Da Dong and the loyalty of his brothers, establishing a foothold in the Major Crimes Unit shouldn't be difficult.
Once you have power in your hands, making money will be much easier. Lin Tiansheng led his men back to the roadside at Longgu Beach. After checking Gao Zicong's leg wound and bandaging it, he felt a sense of relief and comforted him, "The bullet didn't hit the bone, it just grazed the skin. You'll be fine after resting for a while, don't worry."
"Are you really alright? Are you alright?" Gao Zicong gripped his leg, tears welling in his eyes, his face filled with worry.
Lin Tiansheng patted him on the shoulder: "You won't be crippled, it's just that the 7.62mm bullet is quite powerful and took a piece of flesh with it."
"The ambulance has arrived. Wipe your tears and be careful not to let the nurses see you."
This place is quite far from the city center; the nearest public general hospital is over 20 kilometers away, so the ambulance arrives very late.
After the exchange of fire, no one called the police until Cheung Kam-wing took out his walkie-talkie and called the radio station to report the firefight. Only then did the West Kowloon headquarters receive the case report.
After showing his credentials to the doctor, Lin Tiansheng said, "Thank you for saving my buddy, doctor."
"It's no trouble at all, it's what I should do." The doctor, wearing glasses and a white coat, was very polite.
Ma Delong, He Li, and the others watched as the two caregivers lifted Gao Zicong onto a stretcher, and with smiles on their faces, they began to tell vulgar jokes.
Obviously, it's good news that Ah Cong didn't break his leg. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, he'll be getting money in a few days, which makes it hard to be sad.
After the white car left, Lin Tiansheng waved and led the remaining four men into the car. Zhang Jinrong sat in the back, sipping his wine, his vision a little blurry. He opened and closed his eyes and found himself back at the West Kowloon Headquarters.
The police station, bustling with people during the day, becomes remarkably quiet. Only the guard post, the reporting center, and the department duty rooms have lights on.
After waking Zhang Jinrong, Lin Tiansheng, along with his men and equipment, went to the armory to return the M16. They kept the hand-cranked sights as souvenirs.
Back in the brightly lit Major Crimes Unit office area, the five men found that more than half of the workstations were occupied. Chen Sheng was the first to stand up and clap his hands, and the rest of the team members followed suit, their expressions solemn as they clapped vigorously.
The lowest-ranking officers may understand politics, but they don't participate in it. It doesn't matter why Lin Tiansheng, Zhang Jinrong, and others were transferred to the Major Crimes Unit; as long as they can handle the mission and kill the criminals, they deserve the recognition of all members.
This isn't a fashion show where being pretty and having a great figure guarantees success. This is the police force; respect is earned by being skilled, willing to risk your life, and able to solve cases.
Pi Zhibang pushed open the office door, walked in, opened his arms, and exclaimed excitedly, "Lin sir, well done!"
"As expected of a veteran, he took down one of the top ten most wanted criminals in one move, showing the younger generation his skills."
"You need to learn more from Inspector Lin, you know?"
Lin Tiansheng wasn't going to give Pi Zhibang any face. He pushed him away with both hands and said sternly, "You bastard, do you even know there are ten most wanted criminals?!"
"You said it was just a few thugs, some girls from the north, and a couple of guns, but suddenly a dozen people jumped out, each carrying an AK47 and grenades. Damn it, are you trying to get me?"
Pi Zhibang looked embarrassed, put his arm around Lin Tiansheng's shoulder, and said in a low voice, "Come on, let's go into the office and talk."
Chen Sheng, Shi Zhanpeng, and the other officers from the Serious Crimes Unit all turned their heads away, pretending nothing had happened.
Before pulling up the blinds on the office window, Pi Zhibang called out to them, "That's it for the day. No emergencies, so the shifts are canceled."
"Yes, sir."
The men were all smiles as they learned they could go home and pack up their things. Of course, their conversation revolved around the newcomer, Sergeant Lin Shazhan.
