Chapter 34 I have a dream
Chapter 34 I have a dream
Logan can't manipulate people's emotions with just the magic of his voice like Jeff Hackman.
But Martin Luther King Jr.'s eloquent writings can.
Coincidentally, Martin Luther King Jr. was also a pastor, so this was a case of "pastor to pastor".
"When our Founders drafted the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they made a solemn promise to every American, in words that would grant all men unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
"With nearly half the nation's population at stake, America has clearly failed to keep its promises and has not fulfilled this sacred obligation!"
Logan's oratory style, combined with his good looks, attracted everyone's attention.
He paused for a moment, then took something that looked like a tampon from his pocket, held it up, and asked, "Do you know what this is?"
A woman in the audience recognized what Logan was holding and let out a low gasp, her eyes darting away.
Most people, however, looked completely bewildered.
“I object! This is irrelevant to this case…” The plaintiff’s lawyer stood up.
“I’d like to hear it.” The judge waved his hand, indicating that the objection was invalid, and gestured for Logan to continue.
"This is a sanitary napkin, a great invention for women to wear during menstruation!" Logan said without changing his expression.
No one expected Logan to pull out such a thing on the spot, and the entire courtroom erupted in uproar!
On the jury floor and in the audience, everyone stared wide-eyed and couldn't help but whisper among themselves.
Reverend Edward, sitting in the plaintiff's seat, looked at Logan as if he were a pervert!
Logan has such a thick skin; a mere glance is like a gentle breeze to him.
He held up a sanitary napkin and looked at the crowd, saying, "Look, folks, this is the current state of the United States."
"Women have faced many difficulties since ancient times due to their physiological structure. With the advancement of technology, these difficulties have been solved one by one, and they can live a more dignified life."
"However, in this country, talking about these things openly seems to be a crime. For example, these sanitary napkins are not even allowed to be advertised, and the products cannot be openly displayed."
"Half of our compatriots, including your mothers, sisters, partners, and daughters, are unaware of the existence of this product that can greatly facilitate their lives and is related to their basic human dignity due to various prejudices."
The whispers in the courtroom ceased; everyone thought of their mothers, sisters, partners, and daughters, and fell silent for a moment.
"That was my initial motivation for inventing the Victoria's Secret bra and advertising it extensively in newspapers," Logan said, raising his voice.
No, you're just doing this for publicity and to make money!
The plaintiff's lawyer cried out in alarm, but there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Like two armies facing each other, Logan had already launched a full-scale attack—
"We live in the same country and should recognize that the fate of our fellow countrymen is closely linked to our own; the freedom of our fellow countrymen is inextricably linked to our own."
"When we were taking action, some people asked the march supporters, 'When will you be satisfied?'"
"We will never be satisfied as long as the freedom and human rights of half of our fellow Americans are not respected and protected."
"We will never be satisfied as long as there are people in America who believe that half of their fellow citizens do not deserve freedom and human rights."
"No! We are not satisfied now, nor will we be satisfied in the future, unless justice and fairness come like the waves of the ocean, surging and rolling in."
"My friends, today I tell you that I have a dream. This dream is deeply rooted in the American dream."
"I have a dream that one day this nation will stand up and truly live out the essence of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
"I dream that one day, women and men in this country will enjoy the same personal freedom and the right to decide their own lives."
"I have a dream that my children and grandchildren will one day live in a nation where men and women work together to build a better world." "If America is to become a great nation, this dream must be realized. Let freedom rise from the highest peaks of New Hampshire! Let freedom rise from the highest mountains of New York! Let freedom rise from the highest peaks of Allegheny, Pennsylvania!"
Snapped.
A person clapped slowly and loudly.
popping.
The two clapped enthusiastically.
clap clap.
A group of people applauded excitedly.
Clap clap clap.
The audience erupted in thunderous applause.
Snap, snap, snap.
Almost everyone stood up and applauded.
The reporters were so excited they couldn't express it in words. Looking at Logan standing tall and proud, they couldn't wait to rush up and interview him.
The judge had to repeatedly strike his gavel to demand silence, but he had a smile on his face.
In the plaintiff's seat, Edward and his lawyers all had faces as black as charcoal.
Outside the courtroom, Voice of Freedom once again set an industry standard by running a telephone line from the courtroom to the broadcasting studio to broadcast the trial simultaneously.
When Logan's speech was broadcast to every household, crowds gathered in front of every radio, people holding their breath.
They listened, they thought, they were deeply moved, and they were moved to tears!
As thunderous applause erupted in the courtroom, bursts of applause and cheers also rang out from the radio.
There's no suspense anymore!
More than one person thinks this way.
When Logan, riding the wave of the times and the tide of public opinion, put on an impeccable performance, even the plaintiff's lawyer was already looking somber.
Therefore, when the jury overwhelmingly acquitted Logan, and when the judge declared, "...the promotion and sale of the Victoria's Secret bra did not involve any obscenity...therefore, this court finds the charges against Logan O'Connor unfounded."
A loud cheer erupted in the courtroom, echoing the countless cheers from the radio, and sent shivers down the spine of the plaintiff, Reverend Edward!
This was an expected ending, but it was definitely not the ending he had hoped for.
His lawsuit against Logan was not a personal vendetta, but rather an attempt to uphold the moral values he adhered to.
When things escalated to this point, it became a matter of upholding the moral values of conservatives across the United States.
However, they seem to have failed.
These ignorant people, including the journalists who aided and abetted the devil, and the judges, were all bewitched by Logan, the devil's henchman!
"We haven't lost yet!"
Seeing Logan surrounded by a swarm of reporters, Edward thought fiercely, "Once we get back to the state court, you devil's lackey won't be able to cause any trouble!"
Logan caught a glimpse of Reverend Edward leaving in a huff through the crowd, and thought to himself, "Too bad, you won't be able to cause any more trouble once you get back!"
