Chapter 260 The Secret Agent

The Ricard, honed to the extreme by the Hive's will, had successfully penetrated humanity's impregnable defenses, infiltrating the relatively "safe" area behind Planet Plantim like an invisible shadow. However, its mission had only just begun, and an urgent problem confronted it: how to pinpoint the location of Ultramarines Chapter Master Maneus Calgar and the leader of the Deathbringers, Nguyen Van Bo?
The Hive's computational power is limitless, and its grasp of the battlefield situation far surpasses mortal imagination. Although it cannot directly locate Karga and Ruan Wenbo, through long-term monitoring of human communication patterns and the chain of command, it can roughly determine which areas are the command posts or rest areas of high-ranking officers.

Therefore, a simple and brutal plan emerged: infiltrate these areas, find a senior officer alone, and then silently extract his memories. Licatt's specialized extraction organs enabled him to extract the necessary tactical information and personnel locations without killing the target.

However, this seemingly efficient method also comes with enormous risks. Whether the target is not killed or the body is destroyed after the kill, the attack or mysterious disappearance of a high-ranking officer is enough to immediately raise human alert. If it were merely a matter of strengthening defenses, that would be manageable; Licatt was confident he could move through physically crowded masses without alerting a single person.

Its real concern is that once humanity learns of the infiltration of the stealth assassin, they will immediately arrange for Calga and Nguyen Van Bo to evacuate the fleet over Plantim in an orbital shuttle. At that point, it will completely lose its target, and the mission will fail.

After careful deliberation and calculation by the Hive's will, Licarta ultimately chose this extremely risky option. After all, without even knowing the objective, all subsequent actions were merely empty talk. Rather than waiting to be killed, it was better to take a gamble and seize this only opportunity. Let them alarm us; if the highest command of humanity really did flee at the slightest sign of trouble, there was really nothing that could be done.

Meanwhile, deep within the planet Plantim, in a temporary command post, the Supreme Commander of the Dead [EGO] was alone in his private lounge.

The room was dimly lit, with only the central holographic sand table emitting a faint blue light, projecting the fierce battle situation in the Plantim sector.

It's worth noting that the lounge was very large in order to accommodate the holographic sand table, but the essentials for a lounge were rather crudely made. For example, the bed was simply a crude assembly of four iron bars and a wooden board.

Just then, a soft knocking sound came from the metal door of the lounge.

“Come in,” EGO replied casually, without looking up.

The door slid open silently, and a thin figure walked in. It was Li Yongsi, a mechanical enthusiast. He wore a long red robe stained with oil and dust, carried a toolbox, and walked briskly. Without saying a word, he went straight to a floor panel in the center of the room, and without a word, began to skillfully operate the tools in his hands, lifting up several metal floor panels.

A moment later, with a slight mechanical grinding sound, a huge metal cylinder slowly rose from a hidden compartment underground. It was a strategic nuclear bomb, its surface painted with striking yellow and black stripes. Li Yongsi casually moved it out, placed it on a clean maintenance mat, and then skillfully removed the bomb's outer casing, revealing the complex internal wiring and reaction core, beginning routine maintenance. A faint smell of ozone and metal immediately filled the room.

Almost as soon as Li Yongsi was halfway through dismantling the nuclear bomb, there was another knock on the door.

“Sir, Ultramarines Company Commander Sol Invictus has arrived,” the guard’s voice came through the loudspeaker.

EGO finally looked up: "Let him in." The door slid open again, and Thor Invictus, clad in Terminator armor, strode in. His heavy terracotta armor looked particularly imposing in the dimly lit room, each step carrying a heavy sense of power. However, when his gaze swept across the center of the room and he saw Li Yongsi handling a strategic nuclear missile, even the Space Marine, accustomed to countless wonders, couldn't help but pause in surprise.

"This is in..." Thor's voice was slightly hesitant.

EGO waved his hand, indicating that Thor didn't need to worry about it, his tone as relaxed as if he were having dinner: "Oh, it's just routine maintenance on a strategic nuclear missile, you don't need to worry about it. Even if it explodes accidentally, the outer explosives will at most kill me, but you wearing the Terminator armor certainly won't die."

Thor frowned almost imperceptibly upon hearing this. However, since even a mortal seemed unconcerned, he, as an Astartes, refrained from saying anything further. He withdrew his gaze, turning his attention back to EGO, and returning to the main topic of their trip.

“Commander EGO, surely we have a suitable place for our First Company now?” Thor asked in a deep voice.

Initially, in the early stages of large-scale battles, most of the Terminator warriors in the battle groups were not directly deployed to the battlefield. Their heavy and slow nature clashed with the high-speed assault and infiltration tactics prevalent at the time. However, now that the battle has evolved into a protracted defensive struggle, the Terminator's heavy armor and powerful firepower will undoubtedly play a crucial role.

EGO nodded, his fingertip tracing several areas on the holographic sand table, which were immediately marked with red light: "Yes, Company Commander Thor. The swarm's offensive is slowing down; they are trying to solidify their lines and exert full pressure. Now is the time for your heavy forces to shine. These war zones are under the most pressure, but they are also the most critical points, requiring strong firepower and defense to support them."

As the two were talking, Li Yongsi also completed his "routine inspection." He carefully reassembled the internal components of the nuclear bomb, then tightly snapped the outer shell back into place, and finally pushed the control lever to slowly lower the heavy object of death back into the underground compartment. The floor closed, and the room returned to its previous tranquility.

For some reason, upon seeing the nuclear bomb completely disappear from sight, Thor Invictus, the fearless Space Marine, instinctively breathed a sigh of relief.

When Sol Invictus's distraction, which lasted less than 0.1 seconds, ended and he turned back to look at EGO, the scene before him froze instantly, like the most terrifying nightmare.

Right where EGO had been standing, a blurry shadow suddenly appeared—it was a ricart!

Its head was now wide open, swallowing EGO's head whole. Thick flesh and broken bones splattered between its jaws, making a horrifying chewing sound.

Almost simultaneously, Licatt's scythe-like limbs ripped through the air like lightning, carrying a whistling aura of death, and swung straight at Thor Invictus's head, which was encased in the Terminator helmet!
