Chapter 57 Dio: Brother? Aren’t you just going to work like a slave for me?
Chapter 57 Dio: Brother? Aren’t you just going to work like a slave for me?
In the evening, Dio sat on the porch and sulked.
Sarafiel crawled to his legs and suddenly reached out and poked his face.
"Mu Da?" The baby blinked.
"."
Dio snorted coldly, but still reached out and lifted him into his arms, allowing Sarafiel to happily grab the Ouroboros silver coin on his chest.
"Because of you, I'm being tried by three parties today." Dio said depressedly, "Damn Clark, he actually filed a complaint against me."
"Sarafil, never learn from Clark again."
"What to learn?"
The sudden words coming from behind made Dio's back straighten and his blond hair almost explode.
He slowly turned his head and saw that Locke had been standing in the shadow of the porch.
"No, it's nothing."
Dio laughed dryly and held Sarafiel to his chest as a shield. "I'm teaching Sarafiel how to pose."
Locke raised an eyebrow and looked at the few golden hairs that the baby had grasped in his hand. "What kind of Poss is this?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Sarafiel giggled at the right moment, waving his spoils happily with his little hands.
Dio shoved the baby into Locke's arms with a dark face:
"Here you go! I'm so annoyed!"
However, Locke did not answer it. Instead, he sat down next to Dio.
The evening breeze blew across the porch, carrying with it the scent of freshly turned earth.
"Dio," he suddenly said, "Do you know why I adopted Sarafiel?"
Dio was stunned, his red eyes flickering slightly: ".Fate?"
"No." Locke looked at the sun sinking into the horizon. "It was because of that night when I thought I was going to fail."
"The first thing that comes to mind is whether you will be alone."
Sarafiel suddenly became quiet, staring at her brother with unblinking dark eyes.
Dio's fingertips tightened unconsciously: ".I still have the world."
"The stand-in can't talk to you."
Locke whispered, "I can't carry you home when you're exhausted from training, and I won't."
"Clark can do this kind of thing." Dio complained, "Isn't it just working like a slave for me?"
"."
Locke couldn't help but rub Dio's head, "So this is how Clark looks to you?"
"Humph!"
Dio hummed, the meaning was self-evident.
"Anyway, Dad doesn't want you to be alone in the future." Locke placed Dio's hand on the baby's cheek and said gently, "He is also a family member who will accompany us for the rest of our lives, Dio."
"Aww!"
Sarafiel cooperated and bit Dio's finger, grinding it with his toothless gums.
Dio was silent for a moment.
In the twilight, his voice was rarely less sharp: "Dad, I will protect him."
Locke stood up with a smile, and just in time saw Clark sticking his head out of the kitchen window:
"Uncle Locke! Dio! Mom said it's okay to eat—"
His eyes fell on the image of Dio holding Sarafiel, and his words suddenly stopped, and a hint of envy flashed in his eyes.
"Come on, Sarafiel." Dio raised Sarafiel's little hand mischievously: "Say Clark is--"
"Dio Kent! You're bullying Clark again!"
Locke grabbed his son by the back of his collar, and Sarafiel kicked his short legs happily in the air.
The setting sun stretched the shadows of the three people very long, interweaving on the wooden floor of the porch.
Staring blankly at this scene, Clark suddenly laughed:
"Dior."
"Actually, you like being a big brother, right?"
His red eyes flickered slightly in the twilight, and Dio finally turned his face away and snorted, quietly adjusting his posture to make Sarafiel lean more comfortably.
Um.
Locke saw this with satisfaction.
As the afterglow of the setting sun faded, bursts of fragrance wafted from the Kent family's kitchen.
Martha brought the last stew to the table, the steaming broth glistening enticingly under the light. "Dinner's ready!"
Clark was the first to rush to the dining table, his eyes shining as he stared at the roasted chicken legs on the plate, but soon his attention was drawn to Sarafiel in Martha's arms.
"Mom, can I feed my brother?" Clark stretched out his hand eagerly.
Martha smiled and shook her head: "No, Clark, Sarafiel can only eat baby food now."
"Ah..." Clark's shoulders slumped instantly, and he sat back in his chair sullenly, poking the potatoes on the plate with his fork, muttering softly, "I want to take care of my brother too..."
Dio sat opposite him, cutting potatoes by himself, but his red eyes would glance at Sarafiel in Martha's arms from time to time.
The baby was swallowing rice porridge in small sips, and was occasionally fed a spoonful of applesauce. His little face was wrinkled, and he seemed to dislike the sour taste.
"Aunt." Dio suddenly put down his knife and fork, "He doesn't seem to like applesauce."
Martha raised an eyebrow: "Dio, are you worried about your brother?"
"Who's worried!" Dio coughed lightly, "I'm just worried that Sarafiel will vomit out the food she doesn't like."
“It would be a waste of food.”
"Is that really the case?" Clark blinked. "Dio, you're not trying to feed Sarafiel, are you?"
"Shut up, Clark!"
A burst of laughter suddenly broke out at the table, and even Sarafiel giggled, slapping the tray of the dining chair with her little hands.
A few drops of rice paste splashed and landed right on Dio's face.
Dio: “…”
Clark: "Pfft."
Dio: "Clark, do you want to fight?"
"Cough cough cough!" Locke coughed a few times at the right time, interrupting the brotherly war that was about to break out.
He wiped the corner of his mouth and looked at Jonathan who was sitting in the main seat:
"Brother, why is it so quiet today?"
Jonathan held his chin up, his face serious: "Locke, I just thought about a serious problem."
"what?"
"Has my family status been lowered?"
"..."
Locke was silent for two seconds, then replied seriously: "Brother, you are underestimating yourself."
Jonathan: “?”
He scratched his head, bewildered. "What are you talking about, Locke?"
"That's a Chinese idiom," Martha said, unable to resist laughing. "Locke means you'll always be the pillar of this family."
Hearing this, Jonathan smiled brightly: "Dear, you understand me so well!"
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a few tickets, shaking them proudly.
"Old Bob gave it to me. It's from Smallville's new magic show! Anyone want to go?"
"Me! Me!" Clark immediately raised his hands high, almost jumping out of his chair with excitement. "I want to see a magic trick! I heard the performer can make things disappear out of thin air!"
"That's true." Martha smiled and picked up Sarafiel. "I haven't seen a magic show in a long time."
"Feel sorry."
Jonathan held his wife's hand affectionately and said, "Dear, I have wronged you all these years."
"No, Jonathan." Martha shook her head gently. "I've been very happy these years."
She glanced at everyone at the table and said softly:
"First there was Locke, then there were Dio and Clark, and now there's Sarafiel..."
"This home is getting more and more lively."
"Honey…"
Jonathan was so moved that his eyes turned red.
Locke: “…”
He shuddered silently and couldn't help complaining in his heart:
What a disgusting couple!
However, seeing his family members having fun together, the corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise.
Wiping his mouth, he nodded in agreement: "Okay, let's go together."
He glanced at Dio and found that although the boy still had a sour face, there was a hint of curiosity in his red eyes.
Locke was stunned, then he remembered that Dio seemed to have never seen a magic show.
After all, such a grand event is rare for their small town.
