Chapter 5 The World!
Chapter 5 The World!
"But did Dad misunderstand something?"
"I'm not targeting my brother." He tilted his head with a confused expression.
The tractor ran over a piece of gravel and the body of the vehicle shook violently.
Locke took the opportunity to snatch the vampire hunter from his hand.
I was so stupid that I actually bought this novel for this brat.
"Don't give me that. Daytime books, last week's spiders, last month's..."
"Those were all accidents." Dio curled his lips and suddenly pointed to the roadside, "Dad, look! Fireflies!"
Locke subconsciously turned his head and saw that there were indeed spots of green light floating in the grass.
When he turned around again, Dio had already snatched the book back and was shaking it at him proudly.
"."
The night wind blew into the cab, bringing with it the coolness of dew.
"You, you..." Locke suddenly sighed, "Do you know that silly Clark still thinks you are really afraid of the dark? Every night when you lived in Jonathan's house, he would leave a night light on for you."
"And he even told me secretly today."
Imitating Clark's honest tone, Locke said:
"Although Dio always likes to play pranks, that must be because he is too lonely~"
"?"
Under the moonlight, the lines of Dior's profile suddenly became sharp, as if strange lines were drawn on them.
He clenched the spine of the book hard, and the sheepskin cover groaned under the weight.
"Clark is an idiot!"
The words seemed to be squeezed out from between the teeth, with a coldness that was inconsistent with the child's appearance.
But Locke could keenly notice that the tips of the boy's ears were slightly red in the moonlight.
"Bang!"
The tractor slid across the slope and turned the last corner, and the outline of the Locke family home came into view.
"Dio, get along well with Clark from now on. He's a good kid, and I think you are too." Locke nagging, "What if Clark gets angry one day? That would be too scary. You don't want to be punched and sent flying into the sky, do you?"
The tractor stopped at the door. He pulled out the key, and Dio stuffed the book into his backpack and seemed to say something in a low voice.
"what?"
Locke didn't hear clearly.
"I say!" Dio raised his voice, glaring at me with red eyes, "He wanted to snatch it from me!"
The moment this sentence was shouted, a drop of water hit the dashboard.
Dio himself seemed stunned. He hurriedly wiped his face with his sleeve, jumped off the tractor which had not yet stopped, and rushed into the house.
Looking at the small figure staggering and disappearing behind the door, Locke couldn't help but touch the back of his neck which was chilled by the night wind.
Is it really so unfair?
No.
Perhaps I was too focused on maintaining order and neglected Dio's feelings.
Locke sighed.
He couldn't help but feel that he was a bad parent for not being able to notice his child's psychological problems.
-
Time passes quietly in the golden waves of wheat on the farm.
Another year has passed.
Locke's farm has now expanded by another thirty acres. The newly purchased combine harvester shines silver in the sun, and the barn is filled with plump oats and wheat. After becoming financially well-off, he even built a small windmill on the west side of the farm.
The Kent Farm next door remained the same size as Jonathan and Martha focused more on raising Clark.
Their barn had a fresh coat of red paint on its exterior, and their vegetable garden was filled with Clark's favorite sweet corn. Although they were not financially wealthy, it was enough for this special boy to grow up healthily.
Although the relationship between the two boys is stable, there is still some inexplicable gap.
But perhaps because Locke pointed it out, Dio finally stopped bullying Clark.
But obviously
Such false stability is always just lacking a breaking point.
For example, one afternoon
Locke stood by the newly built fence, watching Dio and Clark 'playing' in the open space next to the wheat field.
If a one-sided chase could be considered play.
"Clark! Give me back my book!"
Dio's face flushed red as he chased after Clark angrily.
"What's the point of reading these books?" Clark nimbly shuttled between the haystacks, holding up a copy of "Basic Physics" in his hand. "Come and play!"
"Asshole! Give it back to me!"
With a roar of anger, Dio rushed towards Clark.
But Clark's reaction speed was not enough to withstand this move.
So Dio stumbled and fell to the ground, motionless.
Seeing that things were not going well, Clark swallowed and was about to step forward to help the boy who had fallen.
"I'm sorry, Dio."
There's going to be another quarrel.
Locke, who was busy repairing the fence, sighed and was about to speak up when he suddenly noticed.
No way? !
"Dio! Stop!"
His heart was pounding in his chest. The wheat field blurred into a golden streak at the edge of Locke's vision, and all he could hear was his own heavy breathing! Locke had never run so frantically before!
Not far away, Dio staggered to his feet, his golden hair almost burning in the sunlight.
His body trembled at an unnatural frequency, and the air behind him twisted strangely.
A humanoid figure with golden body and muscular body suddenly appeared!
"The World!"
"Beat him hard!"
?
Clark stayed where he was.
What, what world?
What world?
But before he could think more, the golden figure he couldn't see moved.
It was so fast that it was beyond the capture limit of the human retina, leaving only a burning afterimage in the air.
Clark didn't even have time to blink before he was hit hard in the abdomen by a heavy punch!
"vomit--!"
He flew out with his body bent, breaking three fence posts before stopping. Clark curled up in the dust, his face full of disbelief.
What hit me?!
What hit me?!
Is it
"Dior!"
He raised his head and said in disbelief, "So you too?!"
"Shut up!"
Dio screamed hysterically as an invisible golden shadow took an attacking stance behind him.
"You bastard! You always steal my things like this!"
"But now I've surpassed you! I'm going to teach you a lesson, Clark!"
"Beat him, world!"
"boom!"
The golden fist was hanging in front of Locke's nose, and the surging wind from the fist even blew off his cowboy hat.
But he still opened his arms to block Clark, staring at the golden monster floating in the air.
"Dio Kent!"
Locke's voice was like ice, "Take this thing back!"
"How could you be so cruel to your own family?!"
This was the first time I was scolded by my father like this.
Dio's pupils shrank in fear, "But Dad, this time it's real. He provoked me first!"
The boy began to tremble, and the shadow behind him began to flicker unsteadily.
"asshole!"
"You've always been in cahoots with him!"
Following Dio's scream, the golden shadow exploded into countless points of light like shattered glass.
He picked up his feet and ran away, not knowing where he was going.
Holding his aching abdomen, Clark looked blankly in the direction where Dio disappeared.
His blue eyes were filled with confusion and hurt, and the shock in his heart took a long time to subside.
"Uncle Locke." His voice trembled. "Dio, what was that just now?"
Locke took a deep breath and glanced at the purple shadow behind him that only he could see.
He squatted down and held Clark's shoulders.
"Listen, kid, this is complicated."
Ruffling the boy's hair, Locke softened his tone, "Are you okay now?"
Clark shook his head and whispered, "I'm fine. I recover quickly."
"The pain will go away if you get some sun."
"It's just..." The boy hesitated, "Does Dio really hate me?"
"No, he just..." Locke paused, as if searching for the right words.
"So angry. Angry at me," he sighed.
"Clark, Locke! What just happened?!"
"Why did I see Clark suddenly fly out!"
In the distance came the anxious cries of Jonathan and Martha.
It was obvious that the two were attracted by the noise just now.
"Clark," Locke stood up, "go back first and don't let Martha and Jonathan worry."
"If that doesn't work, tell them Dio and I have something to take care of. You should be able to see us at the windmill later."
"The windmill? The one in Dior."
Clark hesitated to speak, but finally nodded:
"it is good!"
