Super Magician: The Magic Network Collapsed Again at the Start
Chapter 21 Getting rich
Chapter 21 Getting rich
"Let's go, let's get down to business," Anser called out, turning back to the guild hall. Strengthening their own power was more important now.
"Flame Fist...can't it hold?" Blatt caught up with Anser in a few steps.
"It's hard to say." Anser's face was ashen. "What level of professionals do you think a gate and a high wall can stop?"
As their levels increase, many professionals are no longer afraid of relying on sheer numbers; they can jump, fly, and become invisible, making them terrifyingly powerful.
The guild hall was mostly empty; it's in the nature of intelligent beings to love watching a spectacle, regardless of race.
"Where are we going?" Blatt asked Anser. "The third floor is the trading hall, full of official shops and big merchants. The goods are good, but a bit expensive."
The backyard is a marketplace; you can set up a stall by paying money. It's crowded, but whether something is genuine or fake depends entirely on your own judgment.
Anser considered for a few seconds: "Go to the third floor, mainly to deal with that warhammer. Ordinary people may not recognize its value."
"it is good."
They climbed the stairs from the lobby to the third floor, passed through a bronze door, and arrived at a closed trading hall, bustling with people coming and going.
More than twenty square-shaped shops are scattered throughout the hall and connected by corridors.
Most shops don't have doors; several shelves and counters are arranged around each other, and you can see the goods and the owner just by walking by, which is somewhat similar to the layout of shopping malls in my previous life.
“Valuable items are usually traded here. Those with guild logos on their signs are government-run, while the others are from outside merchants…” Blatt explained.
"Ah."
The three of them walked around and Anser found that although there were many shops, there were at most two shops selling the same type of goods, which was obviously a deliberate attempt to avoid competition.
"follow me."
Blatt led the two to a weapons shop with a sign that read: Soradin Boutique.
The shopkeeper was a dwarf with a full red beard, nearly 1.5 meters tall, and should be classified as a mountain dwarf.
Don't assume that shops run by dwarves are good, because not all dwarves can forge.
Dwarves are hot-tempered, stubborn, and greedy, but not necessarily honest and straightforward! They have long lifespans, generally reaching 400 years old. Living with humans for a long time, they inevitably become mercenary and can lie without batting an eye.
Therefore, one should not blindly trust any merchant, regardless of their ethnicity.
Anser focused his gaze on the dwarf, the dice subtly detecting his information.
Thoradin, Dwarf, Level 4 Warrior (Warrior)
'Level 4 again. Looks like advancing to level 5 will be difficult.'
With a clatter, Blatt placed the package on the counter, opened it, and revealed a pile of weapons and miscellaneous items.
Hearing the commotion, the adventurers nearby gathered around. These items were stained with blood and their shapes were different from human weapons, so their origin was obvious.
The red-bearded dwarf walked over, stretched out his thick fingers and poked at it a couple of times, showing little interest.
"...They're all poorly made, inferior goods that need to be recast. I'll give you...85 gold coins."
Blatt wasn't good at bargaining, but he knew it was a seller's market. With natural disasters looming, the most valuable things were food and weapons that could be seized for food or for self-defense.
Whether or not they can use them is another matter, but having weapons in hand at least serves as a deterrent and gives one peace of mind.
“Don’t rush, take a look at this.” Blatt said, taking out the gray dwarf warhammer of the overseer and slamming it on the counter.
"Huh?" The dwarf's eyes widened. He reached out, picked it up, and waved it around a couple of times, a look of delight on his face. "This craftsmanship, these materials... a magical weapon from the gray dwarves?"
Blatt crossed his arms, tilted his head slightly, and deliberately looked down at the dwarf: "Does the Grey Dwarf Overseer know? It took two elite paladins and a genius sorcerer working together to barely defeat him."
The dwarf paused, glanced around, and then fixed his gaze on Anser behind Blatt, his tone surprised:
"Are you the adventurer who helped Rand stop the gray dwarves at the Flying Dragon Bridge?"
"You know us?" Blatt couldn't keep up the act any longer. He looked down at the dwarf, only to find that the dwarf ignored him completely and stared intently at Anser.
The adventurers around looked bewildered; most of them were unaware of what had happened on the Flying Dragon Bridge.
Anser couldn't stand being stared at by the dwarf's large, bell-like eyes, so he could only reply, "It's us. Your information network is quite impressive."
"The higher-ups at all levels are keeping a close eye on the activity of subterranean creatures, how could they not know?" The dwarf laughed heartily, his voice deep and resonant. "You guys have guts, unlike those cowards who just know how to run away..."
The dwarf's cursing and swearing were undoubtedly a sweeping generalization, causing the surrounding adventurers to look somewhat uncomfortable.
There's nothing we can do about it. No matter how prosperous Baldur's Gate is, it's the private property of the upper-city nobles. What does it have to do with adventurers and commoners?
After a long while, the dwarf finally finished venting and looked at Anser with admiration.
Little did they know that Anser simply ran too late and fell into the giant pit; otherwise, he would have run faster than anyone else.
"You're quite special. Those veteran spellcasters are still figuring things out, but you've adapted so well. What's your secret?" The dwarf changed the subject, asking about the wave of spells bombarding the bridgehead.
“Uh…” Anser paused for a few seconds, “Me? I mainly rely on talent.”
The dwarf paused, realizing that what he said was true; what else could a warlock rely on besides talent?
“That makes a damn good point.” He nodded solemnly, no longer asking questions, and lowered his head to pick up the warhammer to examine and explore it closely, sometimes focusing on sensing its power.
The surrounding adventurers immediately fell silent upon seeing this, their eyes sparkling with curiosity, eager to know what weapon the gray dwarf overseer used.
Anser remained calm; he had already checked Warhammer's attributes through the character card.
After a long silence, the dwarf slowly spoke: "Grey Dwarf Warhammer, excellent quality, requires synchronization, and has a mind attack effect."
A collective sigh rippled through the crowd, and even Blatter could not hide his disappointment.
Common and excellent quality magical items are relatively common. Common magical items are worth more than 100 gold coins, while excellent magical items are generally worth between 300 and 1000 gold coins. Ordinary professionals can obtain them with some effort.
Rare and higher-rarity magical items are rarely seen by most people. Their prices vary, but they start at least at several thousand gold coins, making them unattainable.
“However,” the dwarf paused, “this warhammer is made of a very special material, probably an alloy unique to the Grey Dwarves. It has excellent properties, and the forger did not bring out its full potential…”
Anser's eyelids twitched slightly, but he feigned composure: "So how much can you offer?"
“For Rand’s sake, I’ll offer 1500 gold coins, plus that pile of junk, I’ll give you 1600 gold coins.” The dwarf pondered, then added, “You can ask around, no one can offer more than me.”
Blatt nodded slightly to Anser, personally believing that the price was indeed very fair, and even somewhat overpriced.
"Deal." Anser smiled; the price had far exceeded his expectations.
"Wait." The dwarf didn't waste any words. He turned around, walked behind the shelf, rummaged around for a while, and then came back to hand Anser a money bag.
When Anser opened it, he found it was full of platinum coins, mainly featuring Roldan, the Sun, and the Unicorn, a total of 160 coins, which felt quite heavy.
'These colors are so beautiful.' He squinted as he counted the money, the coins clinking like musical notes, and he felt quite pleased.
"The quantity is just right." He counted twice, and there wasn't a single one missing.
He casually slipped a few platinum coins to Brad and Finn, one of them being a share of the "junk," and the rest was his own.
"If you want to buy something, hurry up, or you won't be able to buy anything later. Mention my name, Thoradin, and they'll give you face," the dwarf shouted, his voice echoing throughout most of the trading hall.
"Thank you."
