Doomsday America
Chapter 26 Absolutely Impossible!
Chapter 26 Absolutely Impossible!
After saying that, Gavin silently exchanged a glance with William.
Upon meeting Gavin's gaze, William quickly lowered his head, not daring to look at Gavin again.
Seeing William remain silent, Eugene spat out another mouthful of saliva and irritably patted the Tyrannosaurus Rex's body.
"Shit."
He then said, supporting himself on the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
"Do you think you're filming Saving Private Ryan? You want us to run back to Ennis and become some random hero just to save your brother who might have turned into a zombie?"
"Screw it, movies are all lies. If you want to go, go by yourself. Consider this old Ford a gift. I'm not going to go crazy with you!"
At this point, Eugene released the Tyrannosaurus Rex and vigorously rubbed his short red hair.
He then paced around irritably for a moment before speaking to Gavin.
"Let him go, damn it, let him drive my beat-up car, I'll give him whatever he wants, and I'll let him eat a little more at dinner too, that bastard!"
"Alright, Eugene, let William think about it himself."
Gavin shook his head, then got up and walked towards the RV.
He had only gone halfway when he returned to the pickup truck, retrieved a large bottle of juice, and carried it back to the RV.
As Gavin passed by Old Mike, who was watching the commotion, he casually said something to him.
"Old Mike, you're still awake? Go get some sleep."
"I'll go sleep in the driver's seat, just call me if you need anything."
Old Mike agreed and followed Gavin into the RV, closing the door behind him.
Since Eugene didn't catch up, he must still have something to say to William. Let's give them some space.
Seeing Gavin get into the car, Doris turned around and asked him worriedly.
"Are we... are we still going to Ennis town?"
"Don't worry, even if we really go to Ennis Town to explore, I won't take you with me. Just stay in the RV and cook well. Make breakfast and lunch. I can only rely on you for this."
Gavin waved to Doris, then sat down on the sofa and watched Madison get into the driver's seat.
While adjusting his posture, Madison thought for a moment and then spoke to Gavin.
"Actually, we should really go to Ennis. After all, a large number of zombies in Ennis have already been lured away. Besides, if we want to survive in the apocalypse, we will have to explore various towns sooner or later."
At this point, Madison turned around, glanced at the mother and daughter who were eavesdropping not far away, and continued with a smile.
"With the little stuff we found, it won't last a week at all, not to mention there are two more women now. When we were searching the convenience store, we weren't thinking of taking anything for women."
Hearing this from afar, Doris awkwardly turned to look at the oven.
Winnie smiled and gave Madison a thumbs up.
As for Gavin...
He nodded and smiled as he listened to Madison's explanation.
“Yes, just based on the fact that a large number of zombies have already been lured away from Ennis Town, I actually wouldn’t mind taking a trip to Ennis to accumulate experience for our future exploration mission.”
"As long as we ensure that the vehicle is not restricted, maintain a safe distance from it during exploration, and have an escape route when choosing an exploration route, I think the chances are pretty good."
"Moreover, even putting aside women's products, we should indeed stock up on some medicines for backup. Ennis, who has been lured away by a large number of zombies, is a good place for us to practice."
"But unfortunately, William had a hundred ways to persuade me, but he chose the one that I absolutely could not agree to."
"Are you asking us all to risk our lives for his brother, whose fate is unknown?"
"What a joke! We haven't even secured a reasonably stable camp yet, how could we possibly do something so stupid? How did he become a policeman? Did Batman write him a letter of recommendation, f***!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin shook his head with a cold smile.
Seeing this, Madison nodded and smiled.
“You’re right. We shouldn’t risk our lives for something so foolish. Even if we were supposed to explore Ennis, we shouldn’t have gone any closer after he asked us to.”
"We've only known each other for a short while and he already dares to ask us to risk our lives for him. What if we know each other for a few more days? Are you expecting us to become his underlings instead? That damn Dallas intern cop!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Madison tapped his headrest and laughed.
"I'm going to sleep, boss. Wake me up when you need me."
"Okay, sleep soundly, I'm here."
Gavin patted the back of the chair to reassure Madison, then reached out his hand to Winnie.
"And you, kid, give me the binoculars."
"Actually, I can keep watch for you too, boss."
Winnie teased Gavin, leaning closer and shoving the binoculars into his hand. Gavin ruffled her blonde hair and shook his head.
"If you feel too bored, go lie down on the bed for a while."
"Alright then." Winnie nodded and obediently left Gavin to go to bed.
But when she got into bed, she couldn't help but linger on the photo on the bedside table.
The photo showed their family; the father's smile and the brother's mischievous wink flashed into Winnie's mind.
Winnie couldn't help but twitch her nose, crawled over, took the photo down, stuffed it into the corner of the bedside table with her back to him, and then curled up on the bed without making a sound.
Then, the RV became completely quiet, with only the sounds of Doris moving around and cooking remaining.
And of course, there were the occasional sobs from Doris.
Gavin sighed. He couldn't allow others to be weak just because he was strong.
After all, the apocalypse had only been going on for a few hours. Everyone in this temporary team was carrying their own pain and pressure, including Madison.
Wow!
Suddenly, the RV door was yanked open, and Eugene, cursing, walked up to Gavin and plopped down next to him.
Eugene glanced at the driver's seat, grinned, and said.
"Big Blackie is asleep too, haha, I thought he was as strong as King Kong."
"Fuck you, Eugene, I'm not asleep yet!"
Madison lay there, raised his middle finger, and slowly cursed.
Upon hearing this, Eugene chuckled and said...
"Alright, go to sleep. I'll keep watch for you!"
"You think you can stand guard and drool like that? If you've had too much Coke, go pee, don't let the water come out of your mouth, buddy!"
Madison retorted while rolling over to find a more comfortable position to rest.
Eugene, on the other hand, was restless, fidgeting with his legs every few minutes.
Twenty minutes later, Eugene glanced at William outside the window and couldn't help but curse.
"He's just sitting there? It's so cold! What a fucking idiot!"
Another thirty minutes passed.
Eugene rubbed his head and asked Gavin in a low voice.
"Quarterback, do you think he's really going to go back to Ennis? Is he really crazy?"
Another half hour passed.
Eugene stood up irritably, glanced at Doris, and muttered angrily.
"Stewed meat takes forever to cook. If it weren't for the aroma, I wouldn't even want to eat breakfast!"
After saying that, Eugene went into the bathroom, cursing, and stayed inside for a while before coming out.
Back on the sofa, Eugene glanced at the silent Gavin, as if he wanted to say something.
After a full five minutes of silence, Eugene slapped his thigh and suddenly said to Gavin.
"Quarterback, you've given the USP back to William, so what about my Luger 101 and Governor's Mouthball? I don't feel safe without those things!"
"Oh?"
Upon hearing this, Gavin finally replied, looking intently at Eugene and asking.
"You've finally decided to risk your life with him?"
"What?"
Eugene was startled by Gavin's words and quickly shook his head, saying hurriedly.
"Don't drag me into this with that idiot. Who the hell wants to deal with him? Do I need a reason to get my gun back?"
"Stop messing around, quarterback. It's the apocalypse outside. How am I supposed to survive without a gun? At least give me a knife. I can't exactly fight off those damn zombies!"
At this point, Eugene stared into Gavin's eyes, waiting for Gavin's reply.
Gavin pondered for a moment, then nodded and said.
"I'll return your gun to you after we finish eating."
"A word is settled!"
Eugene was overjoyed and slapped his thigh in excitement.
However, after the initial excitement subsided, he quickly continued to explain to Gavin.
"Don't get the wrong idea, buddy. I'm not the kind of person who would willingly throw my life away. Even if you were stupid enough to agree to William's request, I'd still ditch you and go it alone!"
"You think I picked up a gun just to risk my life for that kid? What a joke! You've got the wrong idea about me. I could never be that kind of person!"
"I just lack a sense of security, do you even know what a sense of security is?"
