F1: The Making of a Racing God

Chapter 55 is now available!

Chapter 55 is now available! Here's a short note that's not really a preface.

It's finally up and running! Thank you all for your support along the way.

Writing about racing is really not easy. I'm not afraid of being laughed at, but before I started writing, I spent four or five hundred yuan to buy some books and videos on driving techniques, and I did do a lot of research.

The reason I chose to write about this as my second book is because I've loved racing games since I was a child. I started playing GRID2 back in junior high school, and later Horizon Zero Dawn, DiRT, Assetto Corsa, the F1 series, and so on.

Running lap times is really addictive. The longest I ever drove on vacation was six hours straight at the Nürburgring. I'm amazed at myself.

Now that I've started reading, I haven't had much time to play. I only managed to indulge twice this week.

Of course, the main reason is because of our little Zhou!

To be honest, I didn't suffer as much as last year during the first two years of his three-year career.

At first, I didn't expect him to actually establish himself. The second year, I could clearly see that things were steadily improving, so I wasn't too worried. But last year, the car was a complete mess again, and the driver market was in complete chaos. I've never been reading F1-related news so intensely as last year.

The idea of writing this book probably came to me around October last year, but I wasn't very confident at the time. I felt that I was just a dabbler with only a superficial understanding and didn't dare to touch such a profound subject, so I spent a lot of time studying it.

It's quite a coincidence that on the same day I published my book, Zhou Guanyu officially announced his signing with Ferrari, so it was a double celebration.

Because I'm afraid of being inexplicably punished by the Heavenly Dao (the system for reviewing and regulating content), I usually schedule my posts very early, so this was a truly unexpected surprise. I really didn't expect it.

I first started watching F1 with my grandfather around the early 2000s, but I didn't understand it back then. I mainly watched it as an excuse not to do my homework.

After CCTV lost the broadcasting rights, I stopped watching it. I only really picked it up again and started watching it intensively in 2020, which is the time when the story begins.

What happened was this: the previous year, I happened to come across a book on Formula 1 by a racing expert, which greatly rekindled my interest in Formula 1. Then, I was stuck at home due to masks, and after seeing the news of F1 racing restarting, I started searching everywhere for resources to watch. In a moment of madness, I also caught up on all the races I could find, dating back to 2017. Getting back to the main point, because the subject matter is niche, this book went through a lot of hardships in its early stages, and I'm truly grateful for everyone's continued support.

There aren't many novels about F1 on the market, and each one is quite distinctive, so I wanted to write one that was a little different.

Isn't this the author's ultimate goal?
I hope that one day when I hear the title of my work mentioned by others, it won't be a "Mini" of some book, but rather a "Plus" of my own.

To be honest, this is a bit risky. I believe that those of you who have followed this far have a clear feeling that, compared to traditional sports fiction, my writing style is more like that of a light novel in many ways.

This is a bit awkward because it doesn't quite fit the market template for the region I'm targeting, so getting a contract at the beginning was really difficult.

I also want to thank the great Yunda University; you are my great sage, willing to lend me a hand.

And there's also the incredibly enthusiastic Lian Qing, who helped me through the initial period of low readership with a wave of book recommendations. Love you.

Of course, my initial motivation for deciding to write my own novel was that I always had a lot of things I wanted to express and hoped that my writing would be recognized by others. So, I'm really happy to have so many people supporting me.

I was just going to write something casually, but I ended up writing over a thousand words. Enough rambling, I need to get back to writing.

As the title says, it will be on the shelves tomorrow.

It seems that scheduled releases cannot be set on the first day of release, so tomorrow's update may be a little late. Here's 8000 words for the first day of release, because I have an unavoidable exam the day after tomorrow. I think many experts have had the same problem.

I'll decide on the specific rules for extra chapters later, depending on the situation. The editor's suggestion seems a bit too high, and it doesn't seem to be very sincere for a niche genre like ours.

That's all, I'm off! Mwah~
