Armored train in the apocalypse

Chapter 6 Buying Tickets and Getting on the Bus

Chapter 6 Buying Tickets and Getting on the Bus
"You'll listen to everything?"

"Listen up!"

"Absolute obedience?"

"absolute!"

The girl vigorously wiped her sweaty face, revealing her fair skin; she was quite confident in her appearance.

Su Huan squinted at her and said, "Come up here and wash the dishes first."

Upon arriving at the dining car, Yu Yue was the only one there dealing with the leftover dishes from yesterday.

Su Huan said calmly, "Go and tidy up the room."

Yu Yue turned around in surprise and saw that there was another girl behind Su Huan. She gave her a complicated look, wiped her hands, and stepped aside.

The girl didn't even wipe away her tears, but her heart was already filled with immense happiness and surprise. She quickly took the dishcloth.

"how old are you?"

Su Huan continued to ask.

"I'm eighteen. I have my ID card in my bag."

There weren't many bowls in the sink, and the girl finished washing them in a few swift movements. She waited anxiously for Su Huan's next command, her ears turning red as she seemed lost in thought.

“It’s good that you’re an adult now and can take care of yourself. Let’s get off the bus then,” Su Huan said calmly.

"what?"

The girl was struck dumb, frozen in place.

After a long pause, he forced a smile and said, "Didn't everything get settled? Brother Su, don't scare me..."

Su Huan asked in surprise, "What did you agree to? You only have two and a half portions of supplies. I'm being kind by letting you wash a few dishes to make up for the remaining half portion, as if you've paid off my debt. But if you want to get on the bus, you still need three portions of supplies."

After saying that, he put a finger to his lips, his tone dangerous, "You don't expect to get something for nothing, do you?"

Tears streamed down my face again. "I can still do so much more..."

What are your skills? What are your hobbies?

“I can…” the girl hesitated for a moment, “I like to travel, I’ve been to many places, I can dance, I speak English very well, and I’m also a blogger with many fans.”

Su Huan frowned impatiently.

"What major are you studying?"

"I never went to college, but I can make videos and I earn much more than college students..."

"So you mean you know photography and editing?"

"I just filmed the video; the rest was outsourced by the company, but I'll learn. I learn very quickly."

Su Huan leaned back on the sofa, squinting at her. "If someone knocks on the door wanting to get in the car, do you choose to ignore it or open the door?"

The girl paused for a moment, about to answer, but then felt something was wrong.

If she answered no, why did Su Huan take her in?
And wouldn't it make me seem too unkind?

Answering "open the door" would clearly cause trouble for the train...

So the correct answer is to report it to him?

Seeing the girl's conflicted expression, Su Huan completely lost his patience. "Alright, get off the bus."

The answer to this question is not important.

The key is that you need to give a quick answer.

In the apocalypse, both good and bad people can survive, but those who are neither good nor bad, and whose minds are unclear, die the fastest.

When something happens, others have already made a decision and started implementing it, while you're still agonizing over trivial matters.

If you don’t die, who will?

The girl dared not say anything more, and looking as if the sky had fallen, she got off the train and lingered around it, unwilling to leave.

There was no pity in Su Huan's eyes.

He needs people, but he needs valuable people, even if they are decisive.

Of course, it would be great if she were pretty enough to provide both physical and emotional services, but a girl with a pointed face and thin legs wasn't his type.

Aunt Yu, who's timid and cowardly, is much more fun.

……

After dismissing the girl, Su Huan, with a name tag tucked under his arm and the roster in hand, went to the sixth carriage. It was noticeably hotter and stuffier there; after all, it consumed electricity, and until Su Huan's abilities were fully developed, every bit of energy saved was precious.

The carriage was filled with all sorts of clothes and reeked of foot odor and urine. Fortunately, there was a toilet in the carriage. After scanning around, apart from some thin plastic sheets, I didn't see anything dirty.

"Tsk, still full of energy."

Su Huan sighed and rolled down the car window to let in some fresh air.

Liang Kuan walked over carrying a fire axe.

Su Huan chuckled, "Don't be so nervous. We're here to collect tickets, not to take lives."

Liang Kuan nodded heavily, gripping the axe in his hand tightly. "I understand."

Su Huan opened the car door and hung the sign next to him, which had four big characters on it: Buy a ticket and board the bus.

"Come on over, everyone, it's time to buy tickets and get on the train."

Su Huan gave a shout and found a chair to sit down comfortably.

He enjoys the feeling of getting something for nothing.

Passengers who had been hiding around the train carefully emerged from various corners.

They were all seasoned veterans trained by Su Huan, and they knew exactly how to avoid being discovered by zombies.

If you accidentally attract zombies, then you're on your own; don't expect Su Huan to open the door and let them in.

A car is much more important than a person.

Soon, passengers carrying bags of supplies gathered at the door of the sixth carriage.

"Why is it the sixth period today? It's always the fifth period before," a man in overalls asked.

Su Huan glanced at it, and it looked somewhat familiar. He took the backpack that was handed to him and said patiently, "This carriage will be vacated and will not be open to the public in the future. It will be used as an exchange carriage."

"A 10-pound bag of rice, that's good stuff. Okay, I'll give you three portions of supplies."

Receiving the actual supplies made Su Huan even happier. "Since you're a regular passenger, I have a small job for you. If you do it well, you can get one of the supplies for free."

The man in the work pants' eyes lit up. "What kind of work?"

Su Huan pointed to the inside of the carriage and said, "Just clear out all the trash and then sweep it clean."

He quickly took the backpack and excitedly got on the bus to get to work.

Hearing this, the people behind quickly asked after handing over their supplies, "Is there any more work?"

Su Huan glanced at him; he looked unfamiliar, probably someone who had boarded the bus a couple of days ago. "No, next one."

A woman with a distressed expression handed over a huge package covered by a black garbage bag, her hands bruised and purple from being squeezed.

Su Huan took it with suspicion.

Wow, it's quite heavy.

Opening the outer plastic bag revealed an air pump inside, weighing about twenty kilograms. It's truly remarkable that a woman could carry this thing so far.

Fearing that Su Huan wouldn't accept it, the woman quickly said, "My husband used to be a carpenter. This air pump can also be used with a nail gun. I brought it with me; it's all on it."

Su Huan glanced at her, thinking she was a diligent person. "Alright, I'll let you off the hook. Go in and clean this carriage thoroughly, making sure every nook and cranny is spotless. Make sure the windows are so shiny you can see your reflection. If you do a good job, you'll get your ticket for tomorrow free."

The woman thanked her repeatedly.

Before long, Su Huan's place was piled with a huge amount of supplies: rice, flour, diesel, cigarettes, alcohol, sugar, tea, daily necessities, medical equipment, production tools, and all sorts of other things.

This is much faster than going out to collect it yourself.

Just as Su Huan was happily collecting train tickets, a group of unfamiliar faces approached. They appeared to be a family: three men, two women, and a child.

The train was frequently spotted by locals, who mistook it for a government rescue mission.

"Dad, look, there are still trains running. I knew it! How could such a big country collapse so easily because of a few viruses!"

The speaker was a bespectacled man with somewhat awkward features.

His father, with graying temples and wearing a navy blue jacket, perked up the moment he saw the train. "Go quickly, go ask!"

But the people around him just looked at him coldly and didn't answer.

The bespectacled man sensed something was wrong, so he approached the carriage and saw Su Huan.

The man looked the train up and down, then tentatively asked, "Is this train a government rescue operation?"
