Armored train in the apocalypse
Chapter 22 Train Renovation Progress
Chapter 22 Train Renovation Progress
Most of the zombies in carriages 10 and 11 are dead.
Wanxing needs to work overtime, otherwise all these reserve crystals will be wasted.
Su Huan tapped on a cracked window, and with a crash, the glass shattered on the floor.
He shook his head and said, "Forget it, you guys figure it out. Just take this carriage off and leave it here. Bring the baggage carriage over and connect it, then rummage through the luggage inside."
Wang He wiped his sweat and responded.
Their attitude was much more respectful than yesterday.
He figured out why Su Huan was the train conductor after spending one night on the train.
And I feel very fortunate that I stood up at that time.
There were two other workers at his level, but they didn't come out that day because they had concerns.
"Alright, get back to work. If you need anything, talk to Xiao Ba."
Su Huan yawned and said.
This time, apart from Gao Zhe and the 120 construction workers, the remaining passengers were still forced off the bus.
There are no steel plate missions, just normal resource collection. There are no strict requirements to find medicine, and if you bring back clean water, you will get a random mood discount from the train conductor.
After assigning the tasks, Su Huan went back to his car to catch up on sleep.
He was woken up by noise at two o'clock in the afternoon. When he opened the door, he saw Yu Jing directing Qi Xiaoba to tinker with something at the back of his carriage.
"What are you doing here?" Su Huan asked curiously as he walked over.
Qi Xiaoba was manipulating the metal plate in his hand, Yu Jing explained.
"Didn't you say that each carriage should have a four-ton clean water tank?"
Su Huan understood. "It's time to build a water tank. We haven't had enough purified water lately, and I haven't taken a shower in a long time."
The third section originally had eight private rooms, three of which he combined into one, and now they serve as both converted rooms and sleeping areas.
Although he doesn't care much about the quality of his sleep, it would be best if they separated in the future.
That would require at least six private rooms, with one room left over in front and behind.
The one at the back has now been dismantled by Yu Jing, and Xiao Ba is making a water tank out of stainless steel.
Looking at the remaining space, "it seems there's enough room for the fuel tank too."
Yu Jing pulled a pencil from her hair, drew a few strokes on the sketch, and said crisply, "Almost there. I'll finish it in a bit. Xiao Ba's ability is really good. The welded metal has no gaps and is completely sealed."
Su Huan touched his forehead with his fingertip and said, "Let's demolish that private room in front and turn it into a small open-plan living room."
"Ok."
After giving his instructions, he walked towards the back of the train.
First, I checked the progress of the steel plate reinforcement.
The steel armor of the first thirteen carriages has been welded in place, and the details are very well done. Every window has a blast-proof net, and the gaps between the panels have been melted by Xiao Ba's skills.
It feels very smooth to the touch, without a single burr.
Some large scratches and dents were smoothed out; if it weren't for the bloodstains that hadn't been wiped away, last night's horde of corpses would have seemed like a dream.
Each carriage edge has three additional 20-centimeter-long triangular protrusions to prevent large-area attacks from directly contacting the carriage.
The last five carriages only had simple welding on both sides.
We didn't even have time to install the explosion-proof netting.
The baggage car replaced number 24, and the broken car was abandoned on the adjacent track. When I was sleeping, I felt the train seemed to move, but I didn't pay attention. It was probably just moving this thing.
The workers ate their boxed lunches sitting in the carriages or by the tracks.
Su Huan glanced at it; it was a rice bowl with stir-fried shredded potatoes in vinegar and dried chili peppers.
After checking the progress, I went inside the vehicle to conduct a routine inspection of the supplies.
Despite Su Huan's seemingly careless and unorganized appearance, he knew better than anyone how much stuff was in the car.
It's fine to trust people you employ, but you can't be unaware of their true intentions.
Especially something as vital as one's lifeline.
The sound of light footsteps approached. Su Huan subconsciously glanced to the side.
Yu Yue walked over from the other side of the carriage, wearing an apron over her knitted sweater. The bright yellow fabric against her face accentuated her gentle temperament, making her even more charming.
"Brother Su, the food is ready."
Su Huan stood up and stretched. "What did you do?"
"The main dishes were beef stew with potatoes, stir-fried vegetables with meatballs, two kinds of seafood, one spicy and one non-spicy, plus a corn and pork rib soup."
Su Huan glanced at Aunt Yu in surprise; it had a perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty, and savory flavors.
It seems he has some intentions.
Yu Yue saw that Su Huan had only organized half of the supplies at his feet, so she quickly came over and bent down to organize them.
Su Huan also sorted out some odds and ends and put them on the shelf.
I picked out some foods with short shelf lives and gave them to Yu Yue.
"That's enough, no need to pack anymore, let's go."
Yu Yue then stopped, wanting to keep a proper distance from Su Huan, but the aisle of the storage compartment was only so wide that if Su Huan didn't move, she couldn't get through.
The night lights were off, and the light from the carriage behind them swept across Su Huan's profile, illuminating Yu Yue's hands, which were holding a pile of miscellaneous items, so hard they turned white.
Su Huan sensed that she was struggling with her decision, so he turned slightly to the side.
Yu Yue walked over nervously, and as she passed Su Huan, she could even feel the force of his breath brushing against her skin, but nothing happened until she was completely past him.
They weren't as clumsy as I had imagined.
For some reason, I felt a little lost.
"You can take a shower once every three days, but it can't last more than ten minutes."
Su Huan reminded him.
Although Aunt Yu still smelled nice, the hair at her temples was greasy and stuck to her face, making her look a bit like a married woman in a Korean drama who was consumed by worldly desires.
He still prefers things that are clean and cozy, like a quilt that has been sun-dried.
A faint blush rose on Yu Yue's beautiful swan-like neck, and she let out a soft, almost inaudible "hmm..."
Her legs were moving so fast she felt like she could fly out of the carriage.
Su Huan was slightly puzzled. He had just happened to be thinking about the water supply for the train and had casually mentioned it.
After she passed by, I went to the shelf inside and picked up a few bottles of soda before heading to the food cart.
The food was already on the table, and everyone was waiting for him.
"Get me a cup, and some ice too," Su Huan said.
Upon his arrival, everyone took their seats in turn.
Under the warm yellow sunlight, the tangy vinegar smell of sweet and sour meatballs mixed with the aroma of pork rib soup wafted straight into my nostrils.
Su Huan poured himself a glass of cola, watched the fine bubbles popping against the whiskey ice cubes with a refreshing sound, and then tilted his head back and drank it all in one gulp.
Enjoy the refreshing sensation of iced cola flowing down your throat into your stomach.
It chased away the heat all the way.
"Ah~ That feels so good!"
"You guys should have some too."
Su Huan handed over a few bottles of soda.
After everyone finished pouring their drinks, they subconsciously looked at Su Huan.
Everyone figured out his temperament: breakfast was usually for assigning tasks, and dinner was usually for acceptance inspection.
Su Huan was very satisfied to see how self-disciplined they were.
"You saw the results of the first phase of the armed train last night, and I am very satisfied with the current results, but we still need to speed things up."
