Ming Dynasty 1627

Chapter 72: 3 Jiang's Remarks on the Release

Chapter 72: Sanjiang + Remarks on the Release
It will be available on Sanjiang on Sunday noon and on the shelves on Tuesday.

So many feelings, so much to say, let me just ramble on and on as thoughts take me.

First and foremost, a heart full of gratitude~

I'm just a newbie, and I'm relying entirely on my fellow readers to help me get started.

With less than 10,000 favorites, it's amazing that it's managed to stay in the top 300+ on the monthly ticket ranking. I'm terrified and feel deeply unworthy of its position.

I don't have much to repay you with. It just so happens that my historical research has recently come to an end, so I can speed up the update pace and try my best to evolve from a 4K beast to a 10K beast.

I type quite fast. I spend about 10 hours a day on research and 2-4 hours on 4K text.

I even scraped the resumes of 7186 Jinshi (successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations) from the eighth year of the Wanli reign to the sixteenth year of the Chongzhen reign, and read them one by one...

It's fair to say that working in the internet industry for too long has given me a lot of bad habits, making me a perfectionist and nitpicker...

Don't worry, I'll only write faster and faster as I go on. I'm more eager than anyone else to finish this book as soon as possible with high quality and high output.

After all, the more time I spend on this book, the more I lose in real life...

Next is the creative process behind this book.

The book's creative logic is very simple; it's basically structured like a D&D board game.

1. Constructing the initial world

I used historical materials to try to reconstruct a true picture of the late Ming Dynasty, including the appearance of characters, the time and space, natural disasters, initial events, economic data, and so on.

The abilities, personalities, and current official positions of each character in the story are all based on reality.

So Guo Yunhou was actually alright, Yang Jingchen would also take the initiative to work, and Wang Chengen was not at the Prince Xin's residence. These are all supported by historical records.

When Sun Chengzong, Yuan Chonghuan, and Mao Wenlong appear later, I will also provide a portrayal that fits historical records and logic.

Moreover, I quite like to find those little people who don't get much attention but have interesting stories. I'll write about them as I go.

2. Set milestones
I set some "vague milestones" for the protagonist, which were set according to the "Ze Huo Ge" hexagram.

The hexagram Ze Huo Ge (泽火革) consists of Li (fire) below and Ze (water) above, symbolizing a boiling cauldron and representing change, perfectly suited to the Ming Dynasty in 1627.

The hexagram text for this hexagram is: Revolution. After a day of rest, there is trust. Great success, benefit, and perseverance will lead to the disappearance of regrets.

The hexagram texts serve as milestones, and the current content is the first volume, "First Nine: Strengthen with the hide of a yellow ox."

Gong (gǒng) means to bind or tie.

The hide of a yellow ox is the skin of a yellow ox, which is very tough.

The first nine represents the early stage of the hexagram.

The whole sentence means that in the early stages, we must proceed steadily and surely to ensure that the foundation of reform is solid.

(P.S. The book will be published in 2025, the Year of the Snake (Ji Si), which is also the year of the Ze Huo Ge hexagram.)
Therefore, you will see that in the early stages, the protagonist hardly makes any major personnel changes, but instead prioritizes safety, organizational transition, building prestige, and gaining control of affairs.

The next milestone is "Six Two: On the day of the Snake, change will occur; going forth will bring good fortune and no blame".

3. Launch an action

To advance this milestone, the protagonist must use every means at his disposal to propel the entire Ming Dynasty forward. Currently, the protagonist is being modeled after the abilities and knowledge I possessed before writing this book.

So you'll see that the protagonist doesn't even know who Gao Shiming is... because I genuinely didn't know Gao Shiming was so amazing before, haha.

This explains why the "author" knows something that the protagonist doesn't.

So many times you say, no, that's not right, author—there's a great talent in such-and-such place!
Don't worry, they'll all make an appearance. It's just that the main character is a bit dim-witted and only knows a little about history. He doesn't know many things, just like the fog of war on the map at the beginning of the game.

4. Interaction between Action and the World

The protagonist's actions will also interact with people in the real late Ming Dynasty era.

These people's thoughts, stances, and interests may amplify or distort the protagonist's actions.

For example, the protagonist says not to embezzle... How could he possibly not embezzle? Many people say that it's impossible to stop embezzling just by saying it, and the author thinks so too.

So you see, the little eunuch Ma Wenke didn't dare to accept money the first time, but he accepted it the second time. If he continues like this, he might take the initiative to accept bribes.

5. The reshaping of the entire world
The protagonist's actions gradually spread throughout the world, with the palace experiencing the fastest spread, followed by the capital region, and other areas experiencing ripples of activity lasting from 1 to 4 months.

Therefore, the world will become increasingly unrecognizable as time goes on.

I would never write a story where the events span over a decade and end up as the Three Kingdoms period.

Because of this method of deduction, sometimes as I write, I encounter historical surprises—for example, the chapter on the death of Ligdan Khan.

Writing books this way is not only enjoyable for you to read, but also for me. For me, typing every day is no different from playing an adventure game.

Ultimately, it's about the essence of creation.

The reason why so-called street vendor literature and stereotypes are so widely circulated is that they have the advantages of communication studies.

The phrase "Donglin Party colluded with Later Jin" is simple and easy to understand, and it has all the elements of easy dissemination, exciting story, and explosive appeal.

But to refute it would require listing a large amount of historical material—and few people care about the real truth.

There are even so-called "history bloggers" who create history by fabricating stories about the discovery of a 1627 account book in the tomb of Qian Qianyi's grandson, which is simply absurd.

This world... is sometimes truly disgusting and disappointing.

……

That's enough for now, any more will just annoy people.
Once I feel a bit less stressed from writing, I will organize my materials and then release the digitized historical materials from the late Ming Dynasty.

Authors who want to write about the late Ming Dynasty can use this for free (hopefully this can be completed this year).

I hope that one day I can achieve the ambition I had when I first opened this book:

—Let there be no more Wang Chengen at the beginning of the Chongzhen era of the late Ming Dynasty!—
This is a tribute to my friend's book, *Journey to the West: Starting with Becoming a Disciple of Taiyi Jiuku Tianzun*. Those interested in *Journey to the West* might want to check it out.
I also recommend my editor, Zhenguan—she's enthusiastic and patient, and taught me a lot. Anyone interested in writing on Qidian is welcome to submit their work!
Finally, thank you all for your support!

I will definitely put my heart and soul into finishing this book!

Finally, I'm asking for a first-time subscription~ so I can show off a little, hahaha!
