Chapter 40 Ise
The spells were so chaotic that Su Ming couldn't read the battle situation at all. He only saw a colorful array of things in the sky, and a figure riding a sea eagle beast at high speed appeared in the aftershocks of the magic.

The newcomer radiated a dazzling golden light, leaped high into the air, left the sea eagle beast that had brought her there, and charged alone towards the Zhiyuan.

Violet continuously erected ice walls in front of her, but the latter broke through them one after another without any reason, simply crashing into them head-on without any fancy moves!

It's all about being wild and violent!
The scholar raised his hand and unleashed two bursts of Yang Flame, yet they were still taken head-on! The figure neither dodged nor evaded, directly smashing through the bridge's shield and landing on top of the bridge. At close range, a single sword strike followed!
Su Ming saw clearly this time that the newcomer was a blonde young girl wearing a set of light armor that looked extraordinary, and holding a life-sized greatsword that shone with dazzling light.

Violet suddenly rammed into the opponent, using her shield to take the Watcher's sword head-on, and then flew out of the Zhiyuan with the enemy, landing at sea—a battle of wits!
The two sides quickly engaged in a fierce battle.

Su Ming's combat comprehension was zero; he couldn't discern the details. He only knew that his opponent, daring to launch a solo attack, must be a high-level expert. However, he later understood a bit more: the blonde girl wasn't a mage-type class and couldn't maintain high-speed maneuverability in the air and sea.

The situation quickly tilted in favor of the scholars.

That's why Violet was willing to leave the Bone Fortress and lose her magical amplification in order to drag the attacking Watchers out to sea to fight them.

"Iser, your fighting style is nothing like your mother's damned sixth brother." Violet started mocking as soon as she turned the tide of the battle. The other person seemed to be someone she knew. "Mithril Wing Armor, the Blade of Balance, were those given to you by your father who doesn't want to admit it?"

"Stop talking trash." The blonde girl paused slightly, blood trickling from the corner of her mouth. The continuous high output had already overwhelmed her, and taking two hits of Yang Flame and breaking through the White Bone Fortress's defenses had come at a price.

"Are you working so hard today because you're afraid your soon-to-be-born brother will steal your attention?" Zi Jin continued to tease her.

This was the first time Su Ming had ever seen a scholar be so sharp-tongued on the battlefield—where was the aloof and cool girl she was supposed to be!
However, the conversation reminded him of the woman he had just mentioned, Katharine O'Shaw, and this Isher must be her eighteen-year-old daughter.

Iser, who had intended to dodge the magic orbs, was clearly provoked by the words. "Heretical Elisa, prepare to die!" She forcefully swallowed the magic orb and once again closed in on Violet.

A flash of sword light, and Violet's figure shattered like glass. Iser didn't stop; she had already looked around and down as she charged forward, but found no target. Suddenly, she raised her hand and swung her sword upwards.

Crystal Illusion is a short-range, sustained spell; the caster must be nearby!

However, the attack also missed, leaving the area above Iser empty.

A beam of light shot out from beneath the sea, piercing through Iser in mid-air. Her armor could no longer withstand the force and shattered. Violet leaped from the water, her Divine Scepter, imbued with a massive blade of light, slicing upwards across the girl's body.

Amidst the splattering of blood, Violet snatched the greatsword from the girl's hand, dodged past her, and spun around to deliver a powerful blow. Iser was thrown into the sea without any resistance, his light fading away.

"Hey, Violet! We can't kill her!" Su Ming exclaimed anxiously.

"It's alright, I'm always in debt!" Violet gritted her teeth, her anger flaring from Iser's unreasonable fighting style. Suddenly realizing something, she instantly moved away from her spot.

Several magic orbs exploded in succession at her original spot. Su Ming looked up sharply and saw another figure riding a sea eagle beast. This time, the enemy was clearly a magic user, and quite powerful.

Violet did not linger in the fight. While retaliating with magical interference, she quickly flew back to the Zhiyuan. However, in the exchange just now, the Zhiyuan had already traveled nearly a kilometer and was still speeding along.

Two more enemies riding sea eagle beasts appeared, and the three of them used all their strength, with countless magic orbs flying around and entangling Violet.

Fortunately, the scholar was indeed a master of flight, as she had said. She held her own against three mounted spellcasters, creating flashes and roars as she sped through the air. "We're facing an archbishop and two bishops, but thankfully we've dealt with Iser first!" she explained to Su Ming.

Iser's coordination with his teammates faltered, while Violet's timing was impeccable, responding swiftly and decisively. The enemy's encirclement failed, turning into a piecemeal attack.

Su Ming was puzzled. So what was Iser here for?

The failure of tactical execution does not mean that the tactic was without purpose. Even a rookie like him could see that if Iser hadn't chosen to rush in and had instead played a slightly more cautious approach, he could have caused them much more trouble. Moreover, taking so much damage from the start clearly indicated that he wasn't planning on having any sustain.

So her purpose was reconnaissance? Or interference?

Su Ming quickly shifted his senses to other directions, but the night sky was a vast expanse of darkness. He vaguely sensed something, but then he remembered that the other party was probably someone who could even deceive Violet—

Su Ming quickly set the mast radar to high-frequency short-range detection mode, and then zoomed in on the radar screen!
Sure enough, 500 meters to the right of the Zhiyuan, the radar showed four humanoid targets 100 meters in the air!
Su Ming quickly informed Zi Jin of the situation.

Without hesitation, the scholar, willing to suffer some losses in the confrontation, unleashed a barrage of magical projectiles towards the target location.

Su Ming didn't just stand by and watch. With his lack of combat experience and the unknown behavior patterns of the enemy, he had no idea what he was going to suffer next.

But not knowing doesn't mean doing nothing. Su Ming unfolded the White Bone Mark, activated the Netherworld Shield, and a layer of dark light enveloped all six huge bone sails of the Zhiyuan.

The Nether Shield can block a certain amount of attacks, but its more important function is to greatly reduce resistance!

The Zhiyuan even paused, its previously halted speed suddenly surging again, like a wild horse unleashed, the speedometer needle rapidly deflecting. Su Ming kept a close eye on the speed indicator, fine-tuning the sail angles to ensure the wing sails were perfectly aligned with the wind direction.

Under the cover of night, the towering hull of the Zhiyuan, carrying scattered magical stardust, cut through the waves, stirring up bursts of white spray and leaving a silver trail in the darkness.

Like a dazzling comet, it came crashing through the wind and waves!

****
"How can it be!"

In the air, the bishops who had been continuously guiding the ship with magic stared wide-eyed. The already outrageous speed of the Zhiyuan surged even higher, making it impossible for them to keep up accurately. Just keeping up with it was a struggle.

This is something that only happens during a hurricane!

On the Zhiyuan, Su Ming watched as the ship's speed surpassed 30 knots. The Zhiyuan's apparent wind speed was now over 52 knots, almost reaching Force 11.

Anyone who tries to pursue the Zhiyuan, or even just follows it, will have to endure the storm!

The masts and sails had reached their limits, and even with magical reinforcements, they began to creak and groan.
