Otherworld Bone Dragon Operation Guide
Chapter 31 Balloon
Chapter 31 Balloon
Zi Jin wanted to say something, but she understood that this was the top priority, so she stopped the healing ritual and went to the alchemy room.
Su Ming wasn't idle either. He reviewed the power unit's operating records and revised the equipment parameters. Then he remembered something: perhaps he should place a new order with the ship design studio.
The alarm clock rang, and Su Ming glanced at it; the train was almost at its destination.
Su Ming connected, took out his phone to check his current location, and then jumped out of the car at an intersection.
Yesterday at the village store, Su Ming also found a set of light sportswear for the little troublemaker. He no longer tried to completely cover him up. Anyway, as long as he was fast enough, it would be difficult for others to tell what he was wearing just by wearing some clothes.
Even if it's photographed, people will definitely imagine it as a robot. Anyway, this thing has become the new industrial glass bead, officially demystified, and will eventually become as common as cabbage.
Su Ming was quite satisfied with the little troublemaker's current mobility. At full speed, it was almost as fast as a car, and combined with the extensive high-speed rail network, it gave him a sense of boundless freedom. He wasn't sure if he would be targeted again, but if he continued to move at this speed, even the national machinery would have a headache!
The supplier's warehouse was located on the outskirts of the city, in an older industrial park where rent was cheap. Su Ming scanned a shared bicycle; riding a bike was more energy-efficient, and speeding wouldn't arouse suspicion.
Soon the troublemaker arrived at his destination.
It was already 8 p.m., but the company hadn't closed yet, and goods were still being moved in and out. Su Ming didn't intend to force his way in, so he climbed onto the roof of the warehouse and sat down.
After waiting for an hour, some staff members finished their work and left, leaving the office empty. Su Ming easily slipped inside and began searching the product list on the computer.
Sure enough, not all of this company's products were listed on online shopping platforms; they clearly had many non-consumer-grade products. Su Ming checked them one by one, and considering the availability of his materials, selected one set: a soft balloon, an aerial remote sensing system with S-band radar and a ground terminal, and several bottles of helium.
After receiving the goods, the warehouse staff outside gradually closed the door and left. Following the warehouse index, Miao Xin easily found the products she needed on the corresponding shelf.
After picking up the goods, Su Ming didn't pursue any further matters. Leaving a careless message would be too foolish; he was already afraid of attracting the attention of the state apparatus.
They're really not to be trifled with!
He simply noted it down, intending to return it later if needed.

Returning the focus to the Zhiyuan, Su Ming began organizing materials for the balloons.
The remote sensing equipment and control terminal were fine, thanks to the two new energy vehicles. The sheer number of chip-like materials on board made Su Ming wonder if it was a car or a free gift with a computer purchase. The most troublesome thing, however, was the seemingly insignificant balloon. The sheer scale of the polymer materials industrial chain always amazed Su Ming, showcasing humanity's pioneering spirit.
Su Ming began the preparatory steps of his summoning technique, matching and judging the materials.
Fortunately, the most worrying material, polyester fiber, was a good match. Surprisingly, there was quite a bit of it in the car, in various miscellaneous places like airbags, sunroofs, and tires.
After preparing the materials, Su Ming methodically began the "Simplest Form: Summoning of All Things" technique, loading the model. Finding a few materials missing, he simultaneously activated the second technique, "Boneless Form: Synthetic Summoning!"
Zijin glanced at her sideways, "You've found a technique to remedy the flaws."
"It's all to save you," Su Ming replied. He had already mastered the dual-technique method; almost all of Zi Jin's medicines were brought over from sanatoriums on Earth using this technique.
"Thank you so much," said Violet.
The light shattered, and the weather balloon and remote sensing equipment, now unpacked, appeared on the studio's skeleton platform.
Another flash of light appeared, sacrificing a useless book belonging to Violet. Su Ming then took the instruction manual into his hand. "Your spellcasting duration has also increased."
“Actually, we’ve already reached our limit,” Su Ming replied. “This equipment is more complex than the steam engine and consumes more power—if it were me a few days ago, I wouldn’t have been able to keep going.”
“Your improvement speed is already very fast,” Violet said. “Even by the standards of a regular elemental mage, it is outstanding.”
"It's rare to receive such praise from you, thank you!"
Su Ming opened the instruction manual and began to read it.
“I don’t understand your writing system, is there any way to help?” Violet asked.
Su Ming thought about it carefully, "Being fluent in languages... finding corpses on Earth and importing their knowledge fragments across space seems feasible—but I can't use water magic."
"Language proficiency is actually a universal spell, but the water-based imprint is the gentlest, as it can be driven by other elements," Violet explained.
"Oh?" Su thought for a moment, "Replacing the driver type requires rewriting the spell formula, right?"
“It definitely needs to be rewritten. Let me think, there’s a case in the fire element that we can refer to,” Violet said. “There was once a mage who tried to teach a blockhead a language, but every time he cast a spell, the blockhead would forget it as soon as it was over. In the end, he rewrote it into a fire element version, and the blockhead was burned and howled for a week, and then he never forgot it again.”
"Tsk, another world version of hanging oneself by one's head," Su Ming sighed. "Even if it can be driven by dark magic, someone's soul still needs to be able to withstand the...corrosion of the dark magic mark." His voice trailed off.
"So, what's wrong?" Violet asked.
"Very well, forgetting that this girl isn't a normal breed" Su Ming sighed.
****
Su Ming kept flipping through the S-band radar manual, marking the key parts.
Since arriving in this other world, he found himself becoming exceptionally studious. Even when he was sick, he spent every day either studying otherworldly magic or researching Earth's technology, without ever stopping. He hadn't worked nearly as hard in school as he was now; otherwise, he wouldn't have gotten into engineering, and he wouldn't have ended up working on the factory production line after graduation.
At the very least, he's someone who can slack off in the office!
Su Ming missed the novels he used to read, where the protagonists endured all kinds of pain to cultivate, whether it was resisting inner demons, tempering their bodies, or swindling and cheating in strange realms to improve their strength—what a pain! Could it be as painful as my daily studies?
After reading the instruction manual, Su Ming first powered on the remote sensing equipment, then set up a frame in the control room and embedded the ground control terminal into it. Then came the installation and debugging, continuing until the communication system, control link, and data transmission were all functioning correctly.
A tethered weather balloon, as the name suggests, is attached to a boat. It is released and retrieved by raising and lowering ropes—simple and straightforward.
With his current resources, Su Ming really couldn't handle anything too fancy. Which modern high-end drone doesn't rely on BeiDou satellite positioning? That alone is a huge barrier.
While he could find a way to rewrite the industrial control program, he would still need to set up ground-based signal receiving stations and positioning systems as alternatives.
