Chapter 103 Visitors with Malice

Chapter 103 Visitors with Malice

"To get a discount by combining orders—" Su Ming hadn't finished speaking when Zi Jin tightened her grip, and he immediately changed his words, "It's embarrassing to talk about how the sales clerk kept pushing me to buy clothes so that I could wear them as matching outfits with my girlfriend!"

"..." Zi Jin was speechless and released Su Ming. "If our shop assistants dared to sell goods like this, they would get beaten up."

Su Ming rubbed his shoulders and wrists, went back to his room, took out another set of clothes from his suitcase, and handed them to Zi Jin. The scholar quickly changed, then shook her sleeves and found the clothes were a bit too loose. Su Ming then helped her alter the size.

The girl adjusted her waistband in front of the mirror, saying, "This outfit is too complicated; it's okay to wear it occasionally."

She styled her hair into a high bun, securing it with the End Bone Staff as a hairpin, then spread her arms and shook her wide, bell-shaped sleeves. "How is it?"

"not bad!"

"What have you been fiddling with?" Zi Jin then noticed that Su Ming had been constantly fiddling with the wires in his hands, bending them into strange shapes.

"To make a flower frame," Su Ming replied. "I felt I should bring some gifts, and after thinking about it, flowers are the most suitable."

"So you're going to make flowers?"

“No, it’s you who came,” Su Ming replied.

Zijin smiled. "Do I look like someone who does crafts?"

Su Ming handed the scholar the tied wire, saying, "Freeze it and then sprinkle water on it. Good luck!"

The girl resignedly took the wire and began to cast a spell. Water condensed along the wire, gradually turning white as it layered, eventually crystallizing into the shape of a bouquet.

Su Ming spread out a piece of plain velvet, and Zi Jin cast a continuous freezing spell on it. The two placed the finished ice flowers on the velvet, wrapped and tied them, and a beautiful bouquet of ice crystals was completed.

The White Triangle was extremely fast; the two had barely finished preparing when they were already close to the Iron Mountain Range. Violet held Su Ming's hand and flew him toward the cargo ship.

This was an extremely large cargo ship, with a heavy, imposing design, a tall superstructure, and an exceptionally wide deck—the largest Su Ming had seen since arriving in this other world. Upon closer inspection, seven massive masts could be clearly identified.

Apart from the foremast, the six mainmasts at the rear are arranged in two rows, all with huge sails billowing in the sea breeze.

Zi Jin landed on the deck with Su Ming, where a large group of people were already waiting.

"Welcome, Lord Su Ming, Scholar Chestnut Owl." Beanie, draped in black veil, led the group in bowing to them, making for a rather grand occasion.

The humans on the ship also mainly wore black veils, while the dwarves did not pay much attention to the color of their clothing. They all tied their hair up and their beards up, and wore prayer chains on their bodies.

Zi Jin and Su Ming placed one hand on their chests and bowed in return.

Beanie and the oldest dwarf in the crowd came over, while the rest dispersed to continue preparing for the funeral.

"My name is Hack Copperhammer, captain of the Ironwater Mountains," the dwarf introduced himself. "I am deeply grateful for the presence of you two distinguished guests!"

“We fought side by side before, so it is only right that I come to see you off,” Su Ming replied.

Zijin handed over the bouquet of pure white ice flowers she was holding, which Bei Anqi accepted with both hands.

"Please accept my condolences," the scholar said softly.

"Thank you!"

Standing together, Su Ming noticed that Bei Anqi was slightly taller than Zi Jin. Her long years at sea had given her a slightly tanned complexion, full of healthy elasticity. A badge with a wrench and gear was embedded in her collar.

Beanie handed the ice flowers to a young girl beside her, instructing her to arrange them properly before the girl left with the bouquet. "I'm busy with many things, please allow me to make arrangements," Captain Hark said to the two of them.

"Please go ahead," Su Ming replied.

Violet looked around but couldn't find the person she was looking for. She called out to Hark, who was leaving, "Where's that old man Hoddle?"

Hack paused, the sudden change in style almost causing him to strain his back.

“Master Hoddle returned to the embrace of lava a year ago.”

"He left too," Zijin said with some emotion.

The old dwarf nodded again, turned and walked away, but Bianchi stayed behind.

“Distinguished guests, I will take you to the lounge,” she suggested.

"No need for formalities," Su Ming said. "You've been busy, let's just go sit down for a while."

Since Beianqi insisted on accompanying him personally, Su Ming didn't refuse. He noticed that the girl's right wrist was still wrapped in gauze—in this magical world, this could only mean that her injury was quite serious and hadn't been properly treated yet.

"Should we just lay it all out?" Violet sent a message asking.

Su Ming thought for a moment, "How about hiring her under the pretext of investigating the sea monster incident, dragging her onto the ship first?"

【Alright. 】

Su Xiang was thinking that since he and Zi Jin were wanted criminals, they needed to have a suitable reason for the outside world and couldn't really drag Bei Anqi into it.

Zijin thought he was worried about being rejected, so he was trying to take a roundabout approach to reduce resistance.

She walked up to the young mechanic and asked, "Miss Beianchi, may we take a look around the deck?"

“Of course.” Beianqi readily agreed, not holding a grudge about the embarrassment she suffered on the White Triangle.

The three of them arrived at the center of the deck. Su Ming looked up at the towering masts and sails, feeling even more awe at the majesty of this giant ship. Below the masts were numerous rigging and pulleys, with piles of ropes neatly tied together, giving him a sense of déjà vu as if he had returned to an engine room on Earth.

"Are Scholar Chestnut Owl and Lord Su Ming also interested in this outdated sailing technology?" Beanie asked with a hint of self-deprecation. "The mechanical technology of your White Triangle is a generation ahead!"

If one were to delve deeper, the White Triangle's equipment was more than just a generation ahead. But Su Ming didn't want to correct him and remained silent.

Teams of dwarven crew carried corpses covered with white sheets out of the hold and neatly arranged them in a prepared area on the deck. Other crew members, mostly humans, worked in small groups to tidy up the bodies and clothing of the deceased.

Most of the dead were dwarves, but there were also quite a few humans. Some of the stretchers did not have intact bodies, but only some clothing and belongings. These were probably the zombie crew members, whom Su Ming destroyed with his Reverse Decomposition Technique.

Before long, the designated area on the deck was completely filled with dead bodies. Su Ming estimated that there were more than a hundred dead people!
"Lord Su Ming," Bei Anqi suddenly said solemnly, "Many of the crew members you revived used the remaining time after the battle to write their last words. On behalf of them and their families, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you!"

Su Ming was also somewhat surprised; he hadn't expected that "Resurrection of the Dead" would have such an effect.

"I wonder if waking them from their long slumber and forcing them to face and experience the pain of death again is a good thing or a bad thing." Su Ming looked at the corpses scattered all over the ground and felt a little sad.

Beianchi fell silent upon hearing this. After a moment's thought, she replied, "If it were me, I would be willing to endure such suffering." She suddenly bowed deeply. "In any case, this is a tremendous favor. Please let us know if you require anything!"

After speaking, Beau Anqi was startled by Violet, who had somehow gotten close to her. "Chestnut Owl Scholar?"
