Chapter 8 July 9th

"Arrogant, extreme, explosive..."

Sitting on the steps in front of Ollivander's Wand Shop, basking in the bright sunshine, Vaughan looked at the brand new elder wand in his hand.

Ollivander's whispers from ten minutes ago were still ringing in his ears.

"Dragon nerves are almost intolerant of any magic, Mr. Vaughan Weasley. They are not as resistant to evil as unicorn hair, nor as conventional as phoenix tail feathers. They can help you make any spell perfect, powerful, and dazzling."

"But I must say that it is also the most prone to accidents among all wand core materials, especially when combined with elderberry - this wand wood has an extreme temperament. From the moment it was born, it has been longing for the peak."

Vaughan's fingers gently stroked the wand. The elderberry joints were smooth and very comfortable to hold.

"Meow!"

Guo Guocha, whose head was lying on Vaughn's legs, raised her head and called softly when she heard him talking, and licked his chin, as if trying to comfort him.

Vaughn smiled and scratched Guo Guocha's thick fur.

Let this huge cat rub against him in his arms and purr comfortably.

How could he possibly worry about the wand betraying him?

Ollivander's personality would never allow those conditions he mentioned to happen.

Even when the cunning Ollivander told the story of the Elder Wand, he did so under the guise of a fairy tale.

But Vaughan knew that the Elder Wand did exist. It had helped Grindelwald stir up trouble, and had been at peace in Dumbledore's hands for decades. It had never been seen that it had voluntarily abandoned its owner.

After all, whether it was Grindelwald's failure or Dumbledore's death, it was a choice made by them as wizards.

The magic wand is just an auxiliary tool after all!

"Since you desire to be powerful, then wait for the future. I will use you to compete with the one holding the Elder Wand!"

Thinking of this, Vaughan smiled and put his wand into the wand bag at his waist.

Behind him, inside the door of Ollivander's, the sound of wands being tested continued for a while. Finally, the door opened and Ron, his face flushed, walked out with his head held high, holding a new wand.

"14 inches, willow, unicorn hair, amazing!" Ron boasted. "I just made thousands of boxes inside levitate. Too bad you didn't see it, Vaughn!"

With that smug look on his face, he completely forgot that more than 10 minutes ago, he was screaming and almost dragged into the store by his mother.

The boy was so happy when he finally got a new thing in his hand, which was no longer his brothers’ old things!

Then he heard Vaughn say with a smile, "Did you buy the wand set?" "..." Ron's smug smile froze on his face.

"It's very precious and needs essential oils to maintain it. A set costs at least dozens of Sickles."

He began to slump his shoulders unconsciously.

"Tsk, it seems like everyone has to give each other gifts on Halloween, but it seems like some people don't need it anymore?" Vaughn continued with a smile.

Ron sniffed, his eyes watering. The remaining stubbornness made him want to straighten his chest and yell in rebuttal... But the Halloween gift...

It seems like I've fallen into a trap!

Like all middle-aged women, Molly was always keen on chatting with people about family matters. After she had finally exchanged enough pleasantries with Ollivander and walked out of the store, her shopping trip in Diagon Alley was successfully concluded.

Well, maybe not so much for Ron.

Returning to the Burrow through the fireplace, in the afternoon, the purchased goods were delivered one after another by the owls, including the entrusted fruit tea, which could not use the fireplace.

In addition to Vaughan's own school supplies, there were also various candies he bought for Ginny.

The little girl kissed Vaughn hard, then took the candy and prepared to share it with Guo Guocha.

From the first moment she saw Guo Guocha, she fell in love with this "little cat", especially after Guo Guocha smelled Vaughan's scent on her and rubbed against her, Ginny almost wanted to stick to Guo Guocha and take it around the house to confirm the new territory.

This made Ron even more sad. He stayed in his room for almost the entire day and didn't dare let Scabbers go out.

But in the early morning of the next day, Guoguocha still caught Banban on the second-floor windowsill.

The mouse had somehow opened the window of Ron's room, with a few cookies curled around its tail, and seemed ready to run away from home.

Unfortunately, a stunning spell flew over its head, and the cunning little mouse became Guo Guocha's toy without any resistance.

When Ron got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, he found that Scabbers was missing. When he hurriedly found them, a large piece of Scabbers' fur was torn off, and the whole mouse was almost dead. Ron was so scared that he broke down crying, making a lot of noise. He tried to drive Guoguocha away, but was beaten by Ginny with her short legs.

Then he nailed up all the windows of his room, begged Arthur to make him a mousetrap, and from then on he hid his mistress in the room.

Every day when Vaughn passed by the 4th floor with Guoguocha, he could see Ron hiding behind the door of the room, opening a crack and staring at them vigilantly.

Honestly, that's pretty disgusting...

Only when Vaughn boiled medicine every two weeks would Guo Guocha accompany him because he had to stay in the attic for several days. Those days became Ron's happiest days.

Vaughn didn't take Scabbers too seriously, as long as he made sure it didn't run away.

While waiting to go to school, Vaughan's life continued as usual. He brewed potions every two weeks and practiced spells in his spare time - spells from textbooks, which he had gradually mastered since he was 8 years old using his brothers' old books and old wands.

The levels of mastery vary greatly. Due to the lack of a teacher's guidance and tips, it is difficult to make much progress through self-study alone.

Arthur and Molly cannot be relied upon, as they have to work and take care of the housework, and they have almost no time. As for the brothers... Percy is a rather selfish guy, so don't expect him to put down his studies to tutor his younger brothers.
