Chapter 1 Good heavens!
1996, New York, USA.
Inside a supermarket on Arthur Street in the Bronx.
A Black man had just rushed out the door with his $0 purchase in hand, his face still flushed with excitement, when a gun suddenly appeared from the side and was pressed against his temple.
"Dude, calm down, don't shoot."
The black man raised his hands in fear. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a tall, handsome white man with a high nose and sharp features.
Luca Greco, looking relaxed and casual, tilted his head towards the supermarket entrance, gesturing for the black man to go in. He then held the gun to the black man as he walked to the checkout counter. "You have to pay for what you buy. Are you going to pay for it yourself, or should I break your hand and pay for you?"
The Black man was stunned.
He thought it was an enemy, but it turned out it was just because he didn't pay for something he bought?
What a big deal.
"I'll give it to you, I'll give it to you right now." The black man quickly pulled out a wad of loose bills from his pocket and handed them to Luca. "Buddy, that's all the money I have."
"Why are you giving this to me to pay for the supermarket?"
"."
Hey buddy, are you a cop? Why are you so righteous?
Under Luca's intimidating presence, the black man swallowed hard, quickly took out his wallet, and, under the cashier's unfazed gaze, swiftly placed a wad of change on the counter, saying, "Keep the change!"
"Remember to pay for your purchases next time!" Luca smiled gently, but his gaze was devoid of warmth. "Remember, this supermarket is the Lucchese family's territory. If I find out you're doing free shopping again, you can save your money for your next life!"
"A very nice gentleman."
"roll."
The Black man slunk out of the supermarket, and only breathed a sigh of relief after he had run quite a distance.
This is actually Luches family territory?
Looking back at the supermarket's name, the Black man thought to himself that he would never come here to do free shopping again.
You stopped a free shopping spree and upheld the peace of the supermarket.

Inside the supermarket owner's office, Luca Greco glanced at the prompts on the panel, then continued to chat and drink tea with the Chinese man in front of him.
"Luca, thank you so much." Uncle Biao had a warm and kind smile on his face. "Ever since you warned those thugs, not many fools have dared to harass the supermarket! Thanks to you, otherwise I really wouldn't be able to keep my business going."
He originally planned to sell the supermarket and then, after getting married, take his wife to the countryside to open a farm and live a leisurely rural life, instead of struggling in the big city.
Doing business in a place like New York is extremely difficult without powerful backers.
Until recently, in the last two months, Luca came to the supermarket, stood up for a group of thugs who were trying to get freebies, and stood up for the supermarket. After that, few thugs dared to come to the supermarket to get freebies.
“I should pay you, I can’t let you help for nothing, otherwise I’ll feel really bad.” Uncle Biao looked at Luca with a nervous expression.
He had made this request before, but Luca refused.
Uncle Biao once wondered if the other party had ulterior motives.
That's the Lucchese family, one of the five major underground families in New York.
"Talking about money hurts feelings?" Luca waved his hand dismissively. "I've always liked to stand up for the weak and fight for justice since I was a child. My dad taught me from a young age that harmony is the most important thing, and that harmony brings wealth. I've always kept that in mind. Uncle Biao, if you still consider me a friend, don't talk to me about money."
Uncle Biao's expression was a bit tense. "You're a Sicilian, what's with this talk of 'harmony is the most important thing'?"
However, he judges people by their actions, not their intentions. In the past few months, Luca has often led people to protect the supermarket and prevented several riots. Moreover, Luca has never asked the supermarket for a single penny of protection money. He even pays for his own purchases. He is more law-abiding than the New York police.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have accepted Luca's Mafia identity and become his close friend despite their age difference.
“Of course you’re my friend,” Uncle Biao said with a smile. “Alright! Let’s not talk about money. Tonight it’s my treat. I’ll book a restaurant and we’ll have a good get-together, until we’re all drunk.”
"Okay, I won't come back until I'm drunk!"
Luca smiled and picked up his teacup.
A message popped up on the panel in front of me.

The "Peace Ambassador" system was awakened by Luca a year ago, when he had just broken the mystery of his birth and awakened his memories of his past life.
As the name suggests, the system rewards Luca with many things as long as he defends peace, such as the most common skill points, which can be used to increase his proficiency in various skills.
There are also ability fragments. Once you collect a certain number, you can use them to exchange for the abilities of various character cards.
Character cards range from D to SSR. The more powerful the character card, the more abilities it possesses. For example, D-level character cards basically have no abilities that can be learned.
There aren't many known SSR cards for Luca, but Uncle Biao has a nephew in Hong Kong, so he must be an SSR card, right?
This is also why Luca deliberately approached Uncle Biao and tried to build a good relationship with him.
Only when the bond reaches a certain level can the abilities on the character card be unlocked. Luca has been preparing for a long time for his nephew who he has never met and is far away in Hong Kong.
He was really looking forward to the arrival of that furniture store war god.
After sitting in the supermarket for a while, Luca got up to say goodbye. Just after he left the supermarket, a tall man walked in.
He was tall and straight, wearing a long trench coat, a small round hat, and sunglasses, and carrying a large suitcase.
He had a cold expression and walked silently, like a ghost.
Luca drove around half of New York, stopping along the way to collect high-interest loans from a few gamblers—one of his daily tasks: collecting debts for his family.
On the way back, the car passed through a three-way intersection, and right there at the intersection, a tall building rose from the ground.
—The Continental Hotel, from the movie "John Wick," is a chain of hotels that provides one-stop service for assassins.
Behind the Continental Hotel lies a council of twelve crime bosses who rule over most of the criminal organizations in the underground criminal world.
In this American crossover world dominated by underground forces, the High Table is undoubtedly the highest authority in the underground criminal world, revered by all its members, including John Wick.
John Vick, nicknamed "Nightmare," "Speed Killer," "Kill My Dog, I'll Kill Your Whole Family," "Slow Motion God of War," and "King of Chaos."
Without a doubt, it was an SSR card.
Although Luca had never met Night Demon, he had already heard of his name in the underworld and had also heard of Night Demon's old friend Kane, who was known as "Blind Killer" and "Master Ip, who could deliver 10 punches in 1 second".
That's most likely an SSR card.
These SSR cards are all Luca's collecting targets. The car stopped outside a bar.
This is one of the properties of the Lucchese family, and it is managed by one of the family's leaders, Marigio.
The leader is considered a mid-level member of the family, a position similar to a squad leader or gang leader, who commands a group of "soldiers" and peripheral members.
Luca is currently just an outsider, but because of his outstanding performance and his relationship with his father, he gets along quite well with Marigio.
Upon entering the bar, Luca easily found his way to a round table in the corner, where the view was excellent, overlooking the entire hall.
A slightly overweight middle-aged man sat behind the table. When Luca arrived, he lazily raised his eyelids and glanced at him, then patted the seat next to him, gesturing for Luca to sit down.
Luca handed over the collected debts and bills to the other party. It was a thick stack of cash. Marigio didn't count it carefully, but just weighed it in his hand and then took out a small portion and handed it to Luca.
"Why did it take you so long today? Did you run into trouble?" Margio asked.
Luca accepted the money and laughed, "I stood up for some people on the way and taught a lesson to a few thugs who wouldn't pay for their purchases."
Marígio: "."
Dude, why are you meddling in such trivial matters? With such a strong sense of justice, why don't you become a policeman?
In the past year, Luca's reputation as a "peace ambassador," "peacemaker," "peacemaker," and "mediator" has spread throughout the Bronx. Many people know that there is such a warm-hearted member who loves to stand up for the weak and meddle in other people's business.
Some people dislike him, but because of the Lucchese family behind him, they dare not make a move against Luca. Even if they did, they wouldn't be able to defeat Luca.
Later on, when small gangs had conflicts, they would take the initiative to seek Luca's mediation, and many businesses and shops would even pay protection money to the Lucches family.
Because you've paid the money, they really do get things done, and you can genuinely avoid being harassed by other clueless thugs.
They're more effective than the police! Those thugs might not listen to the police, but they would never dare to disobey these underworld figures.
— Luca will give those thugs an irresistible reason.
As a result, the reputation of the Luches family has improved considerably.
This left the Marigio man completely bewildered. After decades in the business, this was the first time he had managed to cultivate a good reputation among the public.
"Luca, how many years have you been with me?"
“It’s been 12 years. I’ve been following you ever since my dad went to prison when I was 10.”
Luca answered truthfully.
He was born into an Italian family; both his parents were Sicilian, giving him a significant genetic advantage.
My father was a soldier in the Luches family, and he spent his whole life in the military until he was murdered in prison.
Luca's mother, unable to endure such a life in her early years, chose to divorce him when Luca was only 4 years old, and left New York alone, disappearing without a trace.
Luca's ability to associate with Marigio was also thanks to his father's "guarantee." When his father went to prison, he entrusted Luca to Marigio, hoping that Luca would "thrive" under the family's influence.
“It’s been 12 years already,” Marigio said with a sigh. “When your father brought you here, you were just a little kid who hadn’t even grown any hairs yet, and now you’ve become a peace ambassador who can stand on your own.”
When the peace ambassador was mentioned, Marigio almost lost his composure.
Suppressing the urge to complain, Marigio continued:
"Over the years you have done a lot for the family, made great contributions, and proved your loyalty and ability. With your qualifications, you can become a formal family member."
Marigio's chubby face was full of admiration as he handed Luca a photograph. "Now I have a task for you. If you complete it well, I will recommend you to become a full member of the family!"
The day has finally come.
Luca was overjoyed; he was about to be promoted to a permanent position!
Becoming a full member undoubtedly provides him with a significant layer of protection. If anyone tries to harm him in the future, they will be facing the entire Lucchese family. He must consider the consequences of doing so!
Just like killing is not allowed in hotels in mainland China, once someone dies in a hotel, the murderer will be hunted down by the High Table Council, and they will be reduced to ashes no matter where they flee.
Luca also wants that kind of guarantee.
I'll climb up step by step and strive to take control of the entire family!
Then, using their family connections as a springboard, they sought opportunities to establish themselves in the high-table councils behind mainland hotels, extending their reach to the world.
Having a place at the High Table in the future is one of Luca's goals.
Doesn't defending the peace of the underworld count as peace?
How can we defend peace if our fists aren't strong enough and our voices aren't loud enough?
Suppressing his excitement, Luca looked at the photo: "Who is this?"
The photo shows an obese man with a round face, squinty eyes, and a fierce appearance.
“Kahn Jones.” Margio’s cigarette dangling from his lips curled into a cold smile. “This guy’s a drug dealer from out of town. He doesn’t play by the rules and ships drugs on our turf. I sent someone to talk to him before, but he won’t listen to me!”
Luca picked up the photo. "What do you need me to do? Do you want me to do him?"
“He has a family background from out of town, killing him would be too much trouble. I just want to talk to him.” Marício shrugged. “But he’s too arrogant. I think only you can calm him down and have a proper talk with me.”
Since the establishment of the "Committee" by various families decades ago, the chaotic situation between families has ended. A series of rules for "maintaining peace and common development" have been formulated, and family members are now prohibited from fighting each other—at least not openly.
Luca nodded to indicate that he understood.
"By the way, I also found you a few family associates; they should be able to help you."
Marigio craned his neck and shouted at two men drinking nearby, "Jimmy, Henry! Come here for a second!"
Luca turned around and saw two tall, thin white men walking towards him.
A prompt appears in the panel.
