The Last 299 Days of Humanity
Chapter 1 Foreword
Chapter 1 Foreword
Introduction:
(Some background information before the story begins.)
Starting in 2A88, humanity began a frenzied period of involution.
However, back then, people didn't rely on food, clothing, shelter, and transportation like they do now; instead, they were at odds with their own bodies!
With the spiraling decline in the cost of bioengineering and the continuous improvement of technology, humanity has basically achieved DNA freedom since 2A58.
Scientists have deciphered the codes of 50 million human gene segments. More than 200 billion genes in plants and animals have also been deciphered.
They can not only perform various idealized recombinations of their own genes, but they have even begun to shape new humans according to their own will.
Genetic freedom quickly swept the globe, affecting almost everyone.
Everyone wants to be smarter and prettier than others, even at the cost of a complete transformation.
(But the worst off are novelists like me, who are truly unable to keep up with the pace and have to install a water tap on their heads to fill in the gaps when all else fails.)
Are you suggesting there are legal restrictions? No amount of slapping can stop the mighty Yangtze River!
This wave has also impacted professionals across all industries.
For example, sprinters have somehow inherited the genetic advantages of horses.
Some brave individuals have even borrowed certain genes from tiger male reproductive organs.
Trendy people who like to be different will transform themselves into a dog-headed, human-bodied monster, thinking that's cooler.
Some strange and unusual plants were also created:
Trees that bloom every day of the year are not uncommon; rice grains can grow to the size of apricots; and sycamore trees can bear apples all year round.
One day, a major case that shocked the world occurred.
A man went out to eat and discovered that his wife was walking side by side with another man into a hotel, so he secretly followed her in.
However, he quickly lost track of her. Just as he was angrily searching for her in the corridor, his wife suddenly came out of a room.
He rushed forward and slapped his wife.
The wife was inexplicably beaten, and she became furious, starting a fight with him.
The two fought all the way to the gate, until the woman was disheveled and the man's face was covered in blood and scratches.
In a fit of rage, the man snapped the woman's neck.
Just then, a passerby walked by and said that he had killed his own wife, so he went up to him and killed him as well.
Suddenly another man came out of the hotel. He saw that his wife had only been out for a few minutes, but now she was lying dead in the street. He hugged the body and wailed.
When the police arrived, they discovered that the woman the man had killed was someone else's wife, and had absolutely nothing to do with the passerby.
The man who was crying was even more dumbfounded, because he suddenly saw his wife standing across the street.
It turns out that the wives of these three men are all beauties with almost identical genes, resulting from genetic optimization.
Perfect genomes are often borrowed and copied from each other, eventually leading to severe homogenization.
This sparked a major discussion at the time, with many believing that things would definitely go wrong if things continued this way.
Therefore, in order to preserve the original human genes, the authorities decided to create seven paradises in different regions of the earth to protect those original people.
However, at this time, according to statistics, there were only 967 original humans left on Earth.
The others are people who have enjoyed "genetic freedom" or their descendants.
However, based on the principle of voluntariness, only 824 native people were able to enter the seven parks.
The first Paradise had 108 initial residents, the oldest being over 80 years old and the youngest only seven months old.
According to the design, once these primitive people enter the park, they will be permanently physically and spatially isolated from the outside world for 500 years, with not even a speck of dust able to pass between the inside and outside.
The park can only open ahead of schedule according to certain procedures when a genetic emergency occurs in humans.
This story begins at The First Park.
The First Paradise is an extremely special place, created in 2B36. It is a miniature city with a radius of 10 kilometers, and its full name is "The First Paradise of Primitive Humanity".
When the first amusement park was first created, it was filled with various temperate plants and animals in their original natural state, all enclosed in a transparent, curved sphere 800 meters high.
The park boasts a pleasant climate, maintained in an ideal state by an all-around intelligent system that automatically regulates temperature and humidity and recycles water.
Most amazingly, all the equipment in this park is designed to last for 500 years and operates entirely automatically.
The people living in the paradise obtain their necessities without having to do any work. Their food is even synthesized directly by workstations.
When the park was built, there were concerns that the people inside might become depressed due to the closed environment, so a substance called "happy hormone" was also integrated into the synthetic food.
This substance can bring people mental pleasure and ensure that bodily functions are in perfect working order. Therefore, the theoretical lifespan of people in the garden is almost always between 109 and 126 years.
When the park first opened, everything was just as ideal as people had expected.
But years later, people discovered that women had difficulty conceiving. And even when they did become pregnant, they experienced extreme pain.
Because the little one will "dance happily" in the womb from morning to night starting from four or five months.
After being born, it was overly active and energetic. Five months later, it wanted to go up to the sky and pluck stars down to play with as fireflies.
As a result, the population of First Paradise has been declining rapidly.
In 2C36, the year Yu Qing was born, he was the only male infant born.
For the next five years, no more children were born in the park.
It wasn't until the sixth year that a woman gave birth to twin sisters, Ya Ya and Yi Yi, and there have been no more newborn babies since.
Around 2B58, the world attempted to take remedial measures to keep the population of the First Paradise growing moderately.
However, some earth-shattering events later occurred, and this incident was completely forgotten.
Even more terrifying, First Paradise then lost contact with the outside world.
At the time of the park's opening, the original inhabitants and the new humans from outside the park coexisted in a network ecosystem and could communicate normally with each other.
However, as the network forms of the outside world continue to evolve, the differences in file formats and transmission methods are becoming increasingly significant, and the outdated terminals in the park are simply unable to connect smoothly with the network of the outside world.
The last year that Yu Qing and his group received accurate information about the outside world was 2C28.
They were told that from then on, Yu Zi would be in charge of managing the new humans in the park, and they were asked to make their own decisions, while Yu Zi would no longer interfere in anything within the park.
They demanded an explanation and the reopening of the First Amusement Park, but received no response.
For the next ten years, they had no contact with the outside world.
And so, they became outcasts of the world.
By 2C56, only Yu Qing, Ya Ya, and Yi Yi remained in the entire First Paradise.
Ya Ya and Yi Yi have been at odds for a long time because of their rivalry for favor, and they often overeat.
As "happy hormones" accumulate in the body due to excessive food intake, they each develop different serious illnesses.
In 2, Ya Ya and Yi Yi both passed away from illness before they were even 64 years old.
He became all alone, so he decided to escape from the First Paradise.
After repeated analysis, Yu Qing discovered that Shenghua Pavilion was the only escape route.
Shenghua Pavilion was actually just a place to transport corpses outside.
It slices, divides, or compresses the corpses and transports them outside the park for scientific research.
In order to escape safely from there, Yu Qing devised a treacherous plan.
He constantly drove away almost every animal he could find in the park and went to block and deceive the Shenghua Pavilion.
Finally, the facilities of Shenghua Pavilion could no longer withstand the strain and collapsed.
He took the opportunity to escape from there...
Beautiful music doesn't begin with a high note an octave higher. There's no such thing as a golden three movements; the best effort is a thousand golden movements.
This book is a story told in a serious manner, but it also has its logic. In the scenario set by the author, the future will eventually unfold as the story describes.
I don't tell stories that are blatantly false; humans can't inherently possess superpowers. A person's superpower is wisdom, which they use to create tools that possess superpowers.
All I can say is that the protagonist is too clever…
Dear readers, you are my only magic weapon: with just a click of your support, you can remotely control me to frantically write non-stop late into the night…
Let me cup your handsome face in my frail hands and say, "I fed the cat three pieces of oil." (Thank you very much)
