Ling Cage: I come from Hisakawa
Chapter 2 Passing by
Chapter 2 Passing by
This joke isn't funny.
When Bai Jingyu saw the words on the road sign, a huge wave of emotion surged within him.
It really is Hisakawa City!
As the mayor of Jiuchuan City, Bai Jingyu knew every street in Jiuchuan City like the back of his hand.
The familiar street names, coupled with the pointed insults on the street signs, made it clear that this was undoubtedly his Hisakawa City!
But how did Hisakawa City become like this?
Is there a war?
Bai Jingyu was completely baffled.
“Take me to higher ground,” he commanded.
He followed the security robot into the ruins of a building that had not yet completely collapsed.
There was a notice posted on the wall.
[Recovering spore virus inhibitors!]
[Infected individuals are prohibited from entering!]
They abandoned everyone!
[A mere shell! All we have are shells!]
Sporovirus? Infected person?
Has a biohazard outbreak occurred in Hisakawa City?
Bai Jingyu frowned.
Wait, what is that?
He noticed something unusual.
It was an incredibly thick vine, as large as a truck, that pierced through the floor and then through the ceiling.
A sense of vigilance arose in Bai Jingyu's heart.
“Go and take a look,” he said to a security robot.
The security robot quickly stepped forward and reached out to touch the surface of the vines.
Glazed fingertips glide across the surface of the vines, easily rubbing off many fragments.
Judging from its appearance, this vine has been dead for a long time.
Bai Jingyu frowned deeply.
Where did this vine come from?
Was the damage it caused accumulated over time, or was it completed when the ground was broken?
if the latter one.
Bai Jingyu gave the vines a deep look before continuing to climb the building.
The higher he went, the more surprised he became.
Because that vine didn't just run through one floor, it ran through the entire building!
This is a reinforced concrete building; even artillery shells couldn't blast through so many layers at once!
What on earth is this?
"We can't go any higher."
When he reached the seventh floor, a security robot stopped him: "The structure of this building is unstable. There is a possibility of secondary collapse above the seventh floor. Although the possibility is small, you cannot take any risks."
Bai Jingyu nodded slowly.
He walked to the edge of the seventh floor and looked out through the broken window.
Countless enormous cracks tore open the entire Jiuchuan, and vines were everywhere, some even reaching into the clouds.
All signs of human activity have vanished; only ruins prove that a once-thriving city once existed here.
What is going on here?
At this moment, Bai Jingyu's feelings were beyond words.
In his world, he used ASH to completely transform Hisakawa City, turning the poor and backward city into a smart, high-end metropolis with a thriving economy and people living in peace and contentment.
Hisakawa City is the culmination of his life's work.
Although what he was seeing was the destruction of another Hisakawa City, he felt deeply for it.
He couldn't help but wonder if the same disaster would happen to his Jiuchuan City, and if so, how he should deal with it.
"We must find out what happened!"
"And these vines, could the destruction of Hisakawa City be related to these vines?"
Bai Jingyu muttered to himself.
Suddenly, a flash of light in the distance caught his eye.
He looked over instinctively.
That is
Someone stood on a tall building in the distance, her back to Bai Jingyu, all alone. Her short silver hair flew up and down, and her clothes fluttered in the wind, but her body was as firm as a pine tree. She raised her head slightly and looked into the distance.
Bai Jingyu looked at the man's back and felt a strange sense of familiarity.
"Take a picture of that person," he commanded.
The security robot quickly stepped forward.
Click!
It extends its palm, and light and shadow intertwine in its palm, forming a delicate photograph.
Bai Jingyu glanced at the photo, and when he looked up again, the person was gone, leaving only the photo as proof that she had indeed existed.
"A survivor?" Bai Jingyu was surprised.
Hisakawa City is clearly no longer suitable for human habitation, yet you can still find living people here.
He must be someone who cherishes Hisakawa City. It's hard to leave one's homeland, which is why he stayed in Hisakawa City even after the disaster.
This person is very important. If we can communicate with this person, we might be able to find out what happened in Hisakawa City.
"Go take a look there," Bai Jingyu ordered.
He was eager to know what had happened in Hisakawa City so that he could take targeted preventative measures.
He would never allow the same disaster to happen in Jiuchuan City, which he had built with his own hands, and he would never allow Yue Kui and Yue Tian to fall into such a world!
“Mr. Bai Jingyu, we do not yet know whether the passage to the parallel universe is stable. I suggest you return first and send a robot to explore this place.”
Instead of immediately carrying out Bai Jingyu's orders, the security robot made a suggestion.
Bai Jingyu was slightly taken aback.
If the passage between parallel universes were to suddenly close, he would be forcibly left behind, and Yue Kui and Yue Tian would be without a father.
"Let's go back first." Bai Jingyu calmed down.
He couldn't take such a big risk; his life didn't belong to just him.
"Okay." The security robot escorted Bai Jingyu downstairs and back to the entrance of the parallel universe.
Standing at the door, Bai Jingyu thought again of the mysterious survivor he had seen.
That back view looks so familiar, like I've seen it somewhere before.
It must be a coincidence.
Bai Jingyu stepped across the threshold and returned to the living room, followed closely by two security robots.
ASH reads the robot's data, and blue light shines from the back of its eyes.
"It really is Hisakawa City."
"From an environmental perspective, that parallel universe is at least several decades away from us."
"But based on the dates of those notices, the disaster that led to the destruction of Hisakawa City in the parallel universe may only be one or two years away from us."
"Like divine revelation, this should come from a warning and assistance from higher-dimensional beings."
"ASH said softly."
Bai Jingyu closed the balcony door and said in a deep voice, "Ask the city hall for leave for me. I will complete the important work at home, and leave the unimportant work to Deputy Mayor Camilla."
“Okay,” Ash replied.
Just then, Bai Jingyu felt a burst of light fall on him.
The wasteland scene outside the balcony is gone.
Cars honked their horns, commuters weaved through the gaps in traffic, and an old man walked his dog on the lawn. Everything was incredibly peaceful, as if the wasteland scene from just moments ago was merely an illusion.
Bai Jingyu paused for a moment: "Things outside have returned to normal."
Thankfully he came back in time, otherwise he really would have been stuck in a parallel universe!
Bai Jingyu felt a lingering fear and regret.
The parallel universe was shut down, which meant he had no way of figuring out what had happened in the other Hisakawa City.
He and Ash could only make inferences based on the information they had just obtained from the exploration, and their conclusions were bound to be very one-sided.
"You have been exposed to an environment where a biohazard has occurred. I have scheduled a disinfection check for you at Jingyu Hospital. Please go there as soon as possible."
ASH said softly, "This room also needs to be sealed off for a while to check for any pathogens from parallel universes that may have invaded."
Bai Jingyu snapped out of his reverie and sighed softly, "What is Yue Kui doing?"
Amidst howling winds and swirling yellow sand, a woman walks into the dilapidated Ant Street.
She held a Tang sword that was not yet drawn, her eyes were sharp, and her steps were steady.
"right here."
Bai Yuekui looked down at the footprints on the ground, his brows furrowing slightly.
She was standing on the rooftop, gazing in the direction of her home, reminiscing about the past, when she suddenly caught a glimpse of a flash of light.
She thought it was a Devouring Beast, but when she turned her head, she saw three figures.
They were too far apart; she could only make out their outlines.
It appears to be a man and two robots, a configuration that is extremely rare in the post-apocalyptic world.
Bai Yuekui looked up.
Yongxin Supermarket
The footprints on the ground are interesting. Whether they go outward or inward, they stop abruptly at the doorway, as if people appear out of thin air and then disappear just as suddenly.
Bai Yuekui pondered for two seconds, then followed the footprints outwards.
She walked to the road sign.
【Ants Street】
[ASH and dogs not allowed]
[May the entire Bai family die!]
The wiping marks are clearly visible.
Bai Yuekui frowned even more deeply. She could imagine a robot standing in her place, raising its hand to wipe the road sign.
