Wizards: Starting with Synthetic Gems
Chapter 6 Talent
Chapter 6 Talent
Dean Tungus turned around and walked to a dead corner of the reception room, a gray brick wall. Logically speaking, there was no way to go and nothing left.
But Dean Tungus murmured a sentence, then reached into a brick wall and pulled out a bottle of emerald green potion in a specially made glass jar.
The potion has a very special color; its overall tone is emerald green, but it contains tiny, sparkling specks, making it incredibly beautiful.
Dean Tungus hesitated for a moment, but still carefully opened the cork on the bottle of medicine.
Elemental Emerald Potions are extremely expensive and rare, making each bottle very precious. This is why the Academy of Aurelian has a rigorous selection process to conserve their use.
Dean Tungus dripped a drop of blood he had taken from Locke's right index finger into the vial, then gently shook it, silently counted to seven, before turning and handing it to Locke. "Drink it immediately. After two hundred breaths, the optimal time for taking the potion will have passed, and the detection accuracy will be greatly reduced."
"In addition, this bottle of Elemental Emerald Potion is worth 5 magic stones."
"You must pay for this test yourself."
"You don't have to pay now. You'll have to repay it when you have magic stones later. In the wizarding world, everything must be an exchange of equal value."
Nothing is free.
Without hesitation, Locke took the Emerald Element Potion and drank it down in one gulp.
Given his current situation, Dean Tunguska had no reason to deceive him.
The next moment, Locke felt a cool sensation in his eyes, as if something was constantly burrowing into his eye sockets, like countless worms scrambling to crawl into his eyes.
He couldn't help but let out a muffled groan.
Within seconds of taking the potion, the scene before Locke's eyes changed drastically.
Dean Tungus's calm voice reached his ears, guiding him to understand the current situation. "Don't be nervous, relax."
"The Elemental Jade Potion will enhance your mental energy fluctuations; in layman's terms, it will make your mental energy more active."
"Therefore, for a very short time, due to the activity of your mental energy, you will activate [Elemental Vision], which means you can see the elements in the air."
"Generally speaking, the more elements you see in the air, and the more obvious the elements are, the higher your wizarding talent is."
"Of course, your body won't be able to adapt to this visual change for a while. Tell me, Locke, what are you seeing right now?"
Locke looked up, trying to make out the materialized elements before him. There were many different colored dots of light, which were not evenly distributed throughout the scene he was seeing.
“There are many points of light. The most numerous points of light are cyan, followed by golden points of light.”
"Then there are translucent light spots, blue light spots, red light spots and yellow light spots, but these colors are relatively weak, few in number, and almost invisible."
Dean Tungus nodded, noting Locke's talent on a piece of paper. "Didn't you see the spot of light?"
Locke shook his head.
Dean Tungus paused on the paper with his quill pen, then continued, "Do these points of light form some kind of shape, or even rotate around you?"
Locke shook his head again. In his eyes, the reception room was just covered with light spots of different colors and brightness, and nothing had happened.
Dean Tungus nodded, a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
"Judging from the current results, you do indeed have wizarding talent, and not at the lowest level."
"It's probably at a slightly below-average level."
"The wizard ranks are divided into 7 levels. The lowest level, level 1, can only see some halos after taking the Elemental Emerald Potion. Only level 3 and above can see points of light."
“Those points of light are actually the elemental entities you see after you take the Elemental Jade Elixir and your vision transforms into [spiritual vision].
Dean Tungus introduced the basics of mysticism, saying, "This world is filled with four elements: wind, water, fire, and earth."
"A wizarding prospect who can see the light spots means that he has at least level 4 wizarding talent, because that means that he can see a high density of some kind of element."
“A level 5 talent user can even see elemental vortexes.”
Dean Tungus said, "So your wizarding talent should be around level 3."
"Hmm, your talent is at level 3, which is quite good on Corfu Island. Most apprentices on Corfu Island have talent levels of 1-2. Most wizarding prospects also have talent levels of 3-4, which is considered average."
“Those with level 6 or 7 talent can almost certainly become formal wizards through hard work and time, as long as they don’t go down the wrong path; while those with level 5 talent also have great potential to become wizards.”
"It is much more difficult for a level 3-4 wizard to become a full-fledged wizard. It requires hard work and a certain amount of luck, but it is very likely that they will never become a full-fledged wizard in their lifetime. As for level 1-2 talents, they have almost no potential to become full-fledged wizards and can only stay as wizard apprentices for their entire lives." "The color you see represents your innate elemental affinity."
"Wind element particles are translucent, water element is blue, fire element is red, and earth element is dark yellow. The color you see most often is cyan, which means you are seeing a composite element."
Dean Tungus spoke softly to Locke. Ever since Locke's wizarding talent was confirmed, his tone towards Locke had changed dramatically, becoming much more amiable.
Locke asked in confusion, "Dean, what is a composite element?"
Dean Tungus explained, "The four elements are just four basic elements, but these four basic elements are inherently intertwined. When two or more basic elements intertwine, they become composite elements with unique properties."
"For example, the blue light spots you see the most are wood elements."
"In other words, you are most compatible with the wood element, which to some extent represents your future development direction."
"You might have an advantage in learning plant magic, because your soul is naturally more compatible with the wood element."
Dean Tungus said, "The second most common color you see is gold. That's the element of gold, a special composite element of earth and fire. This means that you are also skilled in some gold magic and alchemy."
"Based on the experience of the wizarding world, a soul will always have a primary affinity attribute, a secondary affinity attribute, and then a general attribute."
"Therefore, your primary compatible element is wood, your secondary compatible element is metal, and your general compatible elements are wind, water, fire, and earth."
Dean Tungus laughed and said, "Although your wizarding aptitude is only below average, your compatibility with the elements is excellent. Your mental strength has a certain compatibility with all four basic elements, although it is not high. This means that you can learn almost all kinds of magic."
"This will make it easier for you to choose an academy when you leave Aurelian Academy by ship and head to the wizarding world in the future."
"Overall, your magical talent is geared towards white magic. I recommend that you go to the Four Seasons Garden, the Holly Tower, and the Alchemist's Hut in the future. These are all well-known white magic academies in the southeastern corner of the wizarding world."
"It suits you perfectly."
"Similarly, the University of Verdandia, the direct superior of Orlean Academy, is also a good choice. The University of Verdandia is a comprehensive magic academy, which will certainly have botanical wizards, alchemy wizards, and gold magic wizards."
"Of course, the premise is that you can pass the exam."
"If you don't pass the exam, none of this matters. Two years from now, the wizard ship will arrive at Corfu. Before that, you must join my club and study with us."
"If your learning progress is not ideal, then you can only go to some niche or small wizarding organizations and become their students."
Passed the exam?
Locke was about to ask what it meant to pass the exam, and whether it required a certain score.
Suddenly, the scene before him changed inexplicably. The elemental particles in front of him seemed to be screaming loudly, as if they had been frightened away by something.
Wood and metal elemental particles disappeared, followed by a large area of dense black elemental particles, then a relatively dense area of fire elemental particles, while the other three basic particles were almost nonexistent.
Locke frowned. "Dean, is it possible for a person to have a second primary affinity attribute?"
Dean Tungus said, "The compatibility attribute is merely a person's degree of compatibility with the elements at a given moment."
"These things can change as people grow and their environment changes. There are even specialized, advanced potions that can enhance your compatibility with a particular element."
Dean Tungus said, "So there's no need to worry too much about this issue."
"However, under normal circumstances, it is unlikely that a person—a soul—will have two main compatible attributes."
Locke immediately understood that his soul had probably merged with the original owner's, which not only enhanced his spiritual power but also granted him wizarding aptitude.
At the same time, he also acquired two main compatibility attributes.
Locke asked, "Then, Dean, what elements do the black elemental dots represent? I feel they are very negative."
Tungus said, "Oh, so you also saw a little bit of dark energy element. This means you have some talent for necromancer or curse magic, but I think you probably didn't see much, so it's not that important."
"I think I'd better not record it."
Tungus explained to Locke, "These are the talents of dark wizards. If you want to join the white wizarding organization in the future, these minor talents will actually be an unnecessary obstacle."
"Since your primary attribute is wood and your secondary attribute is metal, there's no need to record your low soul compatibility with the dark element."
"Conversely, if a student's future goal is to join a dark wizard's organization, I would also advise him not to record some low light element compatibility."
