Based on the above deductions, I would like to make a guess about the murderer—
Theodore took the toilet paper out of the paper bag and posted a profile:
"The perpetrator was a Black woman, aged between 30 and 40. She had a sexually exploitative relationship with the victim."
"The murderer had long been engaged in manual labor and was physically strong."
"The murderer and the victim belonged to the same community, and the murderer was a victim of the victim's exploitation."
"The murderer bribed the victim to get her son a chance to be tested and received false promises from the victim, but her child did not make it to the team."
"The killer's children may drop out of school, join gangs, or even die as a result."
"The murderer had recently harassed the victim, staking out places where the victim might appear, such as outside the school and apartment."
"The murderer had a strong sense of morality and was full of moral judgment towards the deceased. Judging from the posture of the deceased when the body was laid out, the murderer may have been keen on participating in religious activities."
"This is all the records related to rugby in the victim's home, and the killer's child should be among them."
After Theodore finished speaking, Bernie, who was standing next to him, had also finished taking notes and they both looked at Wenner.
Wenner took the scrap paper, flipped through two pages, put it down, and asked Theodore why he was sure it was a woman.
The deceased had a prior record of having an affair with a married woman, and it is also possible that a false promise combined with his wife's infidelity angered a husband.
Theodore dismissed this possibility: "This is different from the X manipulation the deceased experienced in his youth."
"The deceased knew how to use a rugby ball as a cover; he didn't want any more accidents to happen. Married women were not among his targets."
"And men tend to choose more direct and positive approaches."
"When the deceased saw that the person following him was a man with whom he had a grudge, he would be more vigilant and would not let the murderer get behind him."
Wenner's explanation of Theodore was as sensory as ever; it sounded plausible, but upon closer inspection, it seemed like pure guesswork.
He was used to this feeling, and raising questions wasn't a challenge to Theodore, but rather a genuine questioning of the matter.
Wenner no longer demanded that they provide direct evidence as he had initially had.
Theodore's performance over the past few months has been enough to earn his trust.
He summoned two groups of people and had them compile a list of the players on the scrap paper, then took Theodore and Bernie to report to Chief Widke.
Chief Widke showed extraordinary concern for the case, frequently inquiring about the progress of the investigation, which put immense pressure on the homicide unit.
The senior police inspector was also in the chief's office.
He appears to be living at the West Precinct.
After the report was completed, the senior police superintendent praised the two men highly.
Theodore looked at him and asked, "Can you be promoted to sergeant?"
The senior police inspector was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter: "Sure, of course!"
He remarked, "Remember the argument I mentioned? If your guesses are correct, it will end this argument."
After Theodore and Bernie left, the senior superintendent's expression turned serious. He hesitated and looked at Chief Widke: "Grant?"
Chief Widek did not hesitate: "They are the best detectives under my command."
He grabbed the phone: "This is Grant Widek..."
…………
Just before the end of the workday, Kahor's loud voice suddenly rang out from outside:
"You hold this line! Arrest anyone who tries to break in!"
"I don't care about any special comradeships or anything like that! All I know is that this is the West District!"
Then came a series of transfer orders.
Carholm redeployed officers from other patrol areas to gather near the Black community.
A few minutes later, it became quiet outside.
Before the public could reach a conclusion about what had happened in the Black community, another bombshell was dropped on television.
During a telephone interview on a local Felton television station, the host connected with Councillor Santos's office. The host mentioned the increasingly serious racial tensions in Felton and, citing the riots that occurred two days prior at Oak Estate Secondary School, asked Councillor Santos for his opinion.
Santos lawmakers pointed the finger at the mayor.
"The mayor has a deep distrust of the Felton Police Department and always likes to make a fuss."
"He was dissatisfied with the Felton Police Department's handling of the incident, especially after hearing the news of the death of football coach Emos Williams, our mayor panicked. He hastily dispatched a commissioner to the police department to give orders."
"His Excellency the Mayor hopes that Eugene Harper, the commissioner from the City Hall Archives, can investigate this matter thoroughly."
"He probably doesn't know as much about solving cases as I do. After all, you all know I have two amazing detective friends, haha!"
"I believe that professional matters should be left to professionals."
"If it weren't for an outsider like the mayor who likes to criticize professionals, that riot might never have happened, and the black-white divide would never have existed in Felton."
The sudden outburst from Senator Santos against the mayor brought absolute silence to the large office.
The detectives looked at each other, unsure how to react.
Theodore suddenly said, "Now we know who Eugene Harper is."
Everyone looked sideways.
"Just now, over at the patrol station..."
Some people have linked Eugene Harper's status as a commissioner to the 'commissioner' that Kahle previously referred to.
This claim immediately gained widespread support.
They also cited the incident yesterday, in which the commissioner was obstructed by Kahor during his cross-regional enforcement operation, as evidence.
Theodore frowned slightly.
He felt there couldn't be such a foolish commissioner.
But thinking about last night's press conference, he became a little uncertain again.
…………
The toilet paper was quickly organized.
After initial screening, they obtained a list of 147 people.
The next step is to conduct a simple investigation of these 147 people and filter them according to the profiles provided by Theodore to find the murderer.
However, this plan is simply impossible to implement.
Under Eugene Harper's continued provocations, racial tensions spread throughout the city.
From yesterday to today, at least 500 people have been laid off.
More than 50 Black people were attacked on their way home tonight alone.
Some white supremacist groups even went outside black communities to specifically intercept black people returning home.
The situation in the Black community has become particularly tense.
Despite Carhorse's personal presence on the scene and the deployment of a large police force to guard the Black community to ensure no further attacks occur.
However, for various reasons, this arrangement had little effect.
The Black community is organizing its own efforts to protect its members as they return home.
If this situation continues to develop, large-scale riots are only a matter of time.
“But we can’t just make wild guesses about these 147 people, can we?” After listening to the senior police inspector’s explanation of the situation, Bernie, who was usually very proper, couldn’t help but say, “We don’t even know what they look like.”
The senior police inspector remained silent and looked at Theodore.
There's more to come. (This is followed by a concluding section.)
