At noon, Congressman Santos, accompanied by his staff and personal assistant, found the four people who were having lunch.

This greatly surprised Theodore.

Senator Santos looked very haggard.

Because of these people, Bernie even started to worry about Sullivan Jr.

According to their investigation, Emily Grant had already secretly accepted James Carter's advances, but at Emily's request not to hurt others, their relationship was not made public.

Emily Grant doesn't like James Carter. She claims to like John Davis, Howard Jr.'s sidekick.

The reason she agreed to become James Carter's girlfriend was because of Helen Bennett, who had run away from home.

John Davis has been fawning over Helen Bennett, while everyone has always believed that Helen Bennett is in love with James Carter.

Emily Grant plans to announce her engagement on her birthday, followed by James Carter proposing to her in public.

John Davis's motives in helping Howard Jr. pursue Emily were not entirely innocent.

He hoped to bring Howard Jr. and Emily together so that Emily would let go of James Carter and Helen Bennett could be with James Carter.

He was the one who leaked the news that Howard Jr. was going to confess his feelings to Emily on her birthday, with the aim of breaking up Emily and James Carter.

He was also one of the few people who knew that Emily and James Carter were together.

The reason James Carter rushed to the attic was quite simple.

The honest school football player was harassed by his suitor Helen Bennett throughout the entire party, which annoyed him terribly.

With midnight fast approaching, he had to sneak into the bathroom to nervously practice his proposal lines when he heard someone outside say that Howard Jr. had gone up to the attic.

Theodore thought to himself, "No wonder he's a World War II veteran; he has such a far-sighted perspective."

Sullivan Jr. happened to live during the rise of the far-reaching hippie culture.

He seemed to foresee young Sullivan turning into a will-o'-the-wisp, kicking over the elderly Bernie, and insisting on running off to the woods to live, coexist, co-parent, and share the same nature with someone… He immediately agreed with Bernie's concerns: "You're right, we should first forbid young Sullivan from being exposed to jazz."

"jazz?"

Bernie was stunned. What did this have to do with jazz?
Theodore didn't give him an answer; the car was already parked in the West Precinct parking lot.

Bernie got out of the car and caught up with Theodore, still asking, "What does this have to do with jazz?"

Theodore pointed ahead.

The West District Police Station is a little different today.

The entire precinct was brightly lit, detectives were busy at work, and the entire homicide squad was working overtime.

There is clearly a case under investigation.

Not only was the homicide squad working through the night, but other departments such as the patrol department were also helping out.

Even the deputy police commissioner is working overtime.

Wenner was on the phone in his office when he saw the two return and simply nodded slightly.

Bernie offered to help, but Wenner refused. He told them to focus on their current case; the homicide unit had over a dozen officers, they didn't need the two of them.

He didn't even reveal who died or what happened before sending the two of them home.

The next day, Bernie no longer had to worry about Sullivan's education.

Theodore wasn't thinking as much as Bernie; he was currently extremely enthusiastic about the case at hand.

The investigation of the guest list for the birthday party by the East District Police Station is nearing completion.

Based on the profile he provided, one person was selected from 147 applicants.

Helen Bennett was a medical student with excellent grades.

The detectives spoke with university professors who said Helen Bennett showed an extraordinary interest in anatomy and that she was ranked first by a wide margin.

She also frequently asked the professor questions outside of class.

The professor commented that many of her questions were things that could only be encountered through hands-on practice. The professor assumed she had found an internship at a hospital or elsewhere.

Among the drafts of the professor's conversation with Helen Bennett, police found a draft discussing heart damage.

They were discussing how long it would take for a person with a heart injury to lose consciousness, how much time they had to resuscitate, and how to resuscitate them.

Helen Bennett suddenly became the police's prime suspect.

Ricky has deployed detectives to conduct a full-scale search.

The profile was consistent with the description, and the suspect also inquired about the victim's medical condition before the incident.

After the incident, he refused to cooperate with the investigation and even went missing.

Anyone in her position would assume she is the murderer.

Theodore had to admit that Helen Bennett was a prime suspect.

His perspective was different from Ricky's.

Helen Bennett is a smart woman. This aligns with his profile of the killer and, more importantly, with his expectations.
