Battlefield Priest's Diary
Chapter 6 Test
Chapter 6 Test
Qin Hao believes he has many shortcomings, but a lack of initiative is not one of them.
When faced with trouble, or even supernatural events, avoidance is pointless; the priority is to resolve them as quickly as possible, or at least to gather more information.
He was just doing a test.
Disassembling and reassembling weapons is a basic skill for soldiers, and there are specific activities related to it in Russia. In some places, secondary schools even organize students to participate in related competitions.
Taking the AK47 as an example, a skilled user can completely disassemble it within 2 minutes, and even have time to do a simple cleaning of the chamber.
However, Qin Hao was certain that he had never received any relevant training, and he could count on one hand the number of times he had handled a real firearm. But now, he could quickly turn an unfamiliar handgun into parts in a very short time.
Such a gun disassembly speed is considered excellent even in the military.
Moreover, in the dream, his running speed was clearly different from his usual athletic performance. Although he wasn't exactly thin, his athletic achievements were only average. Not only did he dodge the heavy machine gun fire at the first moment, but he also led the charge in the mass retreat of hundreds of people, being the first to jump into the trenches.
Of course, this can be explained by theories such as adrenaline or the burst of ability in a crisis, but hormones cannot improve the body's shooting ability.
But now his feeling of disassembling a pistol is more like muscle memory, as if he had received this kind of training before.
After repeatedly disassembling and reassembling the Tokarev pistol in a short period of time, he finally realized that he had acquired some skills that he had never encountered before.
He recalled the newly added word engraved on the base of the chess piece.
[Mechanical Operation]
"You can become more proficient with firearms," the diary reads.
Has the piece been upgraded after the previous battle?
Qin Hao gently fiddled with the chess pieces in his hands, muttering to himself, "It's like throwing myself onto the chessboard to fight."
After thinking for a moment, Qin Hao went to verify the next thing.
He took his phone out of his pocket, took a picture of the evidence that he had returned to World War I—the wild grass he had casually plucked—and emailed it to a friend who studied biology during his university days, along with a message.
I know you're busy, but could you please take a look at this for me?
Then Qin Hao took out his coat and walked straight out.
First, he needs to go shopping.
There are no large supermarkets in this small town; the only place to buy things is a shop in the center of town that is located next to a gas station.
"What would you like?" A clerk wearing denim overalls greeted him at the counter.
"I want some cookies," Qin Hao stated his request directly.
"Yes," the clerk said, taking out several bags from behind the counter. "There are several kinds here. I recommend this flavor; it's sprinkled with almonds and tastes great."
“Not this kind.” Qin Hao shook his head. “I want compressed biscuits, or small-sized energy bars, the smaller the better.”
"Want to go hiking?" the shop assistant asked casually as she looked through the order slip.
"I guess so," Qin Hao said noncommittally.
"Those kinds of things don't sell very well. If you want them, I'll have to go to the warehouse to get them." The shop assistant looked a little reluctant.
"Please help me out." Qin Hao casually slipped a bill into his hand as a tip.
A few dozen meters away from the gas station, in front of a small warehouse, the clerk led the way. When he opened the door with his key, a burst of fierce barking came from inside.
A Caucasian Shepherd Dog, nearly a meter tall, was barking loudly at the door. "It's the owner's dog," the clerk explained in a low voice, then added, "Don't worry, it's locked."
The two people walked in one after the other. The Caucasian Shepherd became very agitated when it saw people coming in, struggling against the chain around its neck and even making a biting motion.
However, when Qin Hao passed by it, the situation of the Caucasus changed.
It first sniffed the air with suspicion, then its whole body suddenly tensed up, lowered its body and stared at Qin Hao warily, emitting low growls. When the two got closer, the low growls turned into soft whimpers.
Waaaaah~~ Waaaah~~~
Finally, the Caucasian let out a mournful cry, turned around, and ran into its doghouse to hide.
"That's strange, it's never looked like this before. Every time I come, it takes me ages to call out to it." The shop assistant scratched his head in confusion and then opened the warehouse door.
He took out a package of compressed biscuits wrapped in oil paper and handed it to Qin Hao.
"Let me make this clear first, this tastes terrible. It's like chewing on wood chips," the staff member kindly warned.
"It's okay, I just like this kind of thing." Qin Hao replied casually, then handed over a banknote.
When Qin Hao returned to his room at night, he was carrying a bag in each hand.
One contained compressed biscuits, and the other contained anti-inflammatory medicine.
He took out the biscuits and pills, then took the Tokarev pistol from the drawer and put it aside, before putting the chess pieces and diary into his pocket.
Food, medicine, weapons
This was the most difficult resource for him to collect in his "dream".
Looking at his watch, Qin Hao realized it was about the same time as yesterday. He carefully laid himself out on the bed and waited quietly for the event to unfold.
Somewhat strangely, until the clock struck midnight, everything remained peaceful and unchanged.
"Hmm? Is something wrong?" Qin Hao looked around at the perfectly normal scene and became somewhat puzzled.
The same thing happened on the second and third days.
Qin Hao would always pack his things and lie down on the bed on time, but nothing ever happened that night.
Was it really just a dream?
Ten days later, Qin Hao himself began to have doubts.
On the last night of the second week, after putting his things away, Qin Hao looked around at the messy surroundings and muttered to himself, "If there's still no response this time, I might as well just go back."
At that moment, the full moon outside the window was at its highest point in the sky.
An unidentified mist rose around the house, blurring Qin Hao's vision once again. He felt as if he were drunk, his body limp as if he were about to fly away.
I don't know how much time passed, but the sound of gunfire rang in my ears, and the smell of blood and gunpowder mingled together again.
Qin Hao tried to open his eyes to see his surroundings, but another military boot stepped on his backside.
"Idiot! Why aren't we charging! The supervisory team is already looking this way!"
Looking at the officer standing before me with furrowed brows, smelling the acrid gunpowder all around, and hearing the hysterical shouts of "Hurrah!" from the distant, ragged soldiers...
Qin Hao knew.
He's back again!
