Chapter 47 You Can Hold Me

Wen Li frowned. "Zhu Yan, let go of me."

Zhu Yan was completely unaware and continued to stubbornly hold her hand.

He was lost in his own thoughts, not knowing what he was thinking, but he just wouldn't let go of Wen Li.

Wen Li's temper flared up, and she raised her voice, "Zhu Yan!!"

Zhu Yan then came to his senses, staring at her with a complicated expression.

Wen Li clearly saw the seriousness and confusion in his eyes.

"Are you deaf? Can you let me go?" Wen Li said coldly, "I want to go back."

Even after she said that, Zhu Yan still showed no intention of letting go of her.

Instead, he leaned closer to her.

Wen Li instinctively wanted to back away, but quickly realized that one of her feet was injured.

As they got closer, Zhu Yan's aura completely enveloped Wen Li.

Zhu Yan's aura was just like his personality—domineering and fiery, mixed with a faint floral scent.

The scent is familiar; it's the fragrance of the flowers in the wooden vase.

"What are you going to do?" Wen Li asked stiffly.

She wondered if Zhu Yan was so angry that he was going to kill her.

Given Zhu Yan's temperament, he might very well do something like that.

She was too impulsive.

Wen Li felt a pang of regret.

Zhu Yan replied, "Didn't you ask me why I needed to explain?"

"I'll tell you now!" Zhu Yan's words were forceful, but the next second, he turned his face away and said in a low, quick voice, "Because I don't want you to misunderstand..."

"Why don't you want me to misunderstand?" Wen Li asked subconsciously.

Zhu Yan was taken aback, not expecting her to ask further questions.

He glared at Wen Li with a hint of embarrassment and annoyance, then pursed his lips tightly.

"Tell me," Wen Li said, unmoved.

She wanted to see what other tricks he had up his sleeve!
Zhu Yan took a deep breath and said, "Because the thought of you misunderstanding me makes me uncomfortable and upset!"

He explained it very clearly, word by word.

Wen Li, however, doubted that she had misheard.

Why does it feel weird?
She stared blankly at Zhu Yan.

Seeing that she didn't react, Zhu Yan assumed he hadn't heard her and repeated himself.

"I said, I don't want you to misunderstand me, it will make me feel really bad..."

The unexpected direct attack stunned Wen Li.

Wen Li hadn't expected him to say that; Zhu Yan's answer was completely unexpected.

Wen Li was stunned.

She stared blankly into Zhu Yan's eyes, which seemed to contain a vortex that was drawing her in.

She only snapped out of her daze when the cool raindrops fell on her face again.

Wen Li snapped out of her daze and avoided Zhu Yan's gaze.

“Oh,” she said.

"It's probably because of the level of affection," Wen Li thought.

Despite this cold attitude, Zhu Yan still felt uneasy.

"Don't you believe me?" he questioned.

Wen Li said, "I can trust you for now."

"What do you mean by 'temporarily'?" Zhu Yan frowned.

“I can listen to your explanation,” Wen Li said. “I only have two questions: Why are you here? And why were you with An Yuan just now?”

"As long as you can explain everything clearly, this matter will be over."

"Sure!" Zhu Yan agreed readily.

"Let's talk about you and An Yuan first," Wen Li said.

"I don't know what happened myself. An Yuan came over to greet me. By the time I came to my senses, she was already right next to me."

Zhu Yan recalled it carefully, and then said.

I always feel like there's a gap in my memory.

Speaking of which, Zhu Yan had a similar situation before, also when he was facing An Yuan.

It's a feeling of memory loss; no matter how hard I try to recall, I can't remember anything.

Wen Li carefully observed Zhu Yan's expression.

The confusion on his face was genuine; he was no longer lying.

Judging from Zhu Yan's personality, he wasn't the type to lie. "Alright, I'll believe you for now," Wen Li nodded.

"Then the first question is, how did you suddenly end up here?" Wen Li asked.

Upon closer reflection, this matter does indeed seem strange.

Even if Zhu Yan intended to have an affair with An Yuan, he wouldn't have chosen such a rainy day and such a location.

They could easily go to a more secluded place, away from her, and boldly steal from her.

It would be too strange for him to hide behind a tree near Meng Yu's house.

When this question was raised, Zhu Yan immediately fell silent.

He lowered his eyes uncomfortably and said in a low voice, "I...uh...I just happened to be passing by."

Wen Li: "..."

Lying, absolutely lying!
This person is dishonest.

Wen Li silently withdrew her hand, expressing her attitude.

Unfortunately, I couldn't pull it out.

Zhu Yan still held her tightly.

"Since you're not willing to tell me the truth, there's no need for you to explain. I don't want to waste my time with you."

Wen Li was extremely impatient.

"I understand, I'll tell her." Xiang pursed her lips, feeling a little awkward, and said, "I was worried about you, so I came along."

The phrase "I'm worried about you" was extremely vague, but Wen Li still understood it.

She felt a sudden pang in her heart, and instead felt uneasy.

"So you do care about me after all..." Wen Li muttered.

Is this the power of resetting favorability to zero?

To be honest, Zhu Yan was a kind-hearted person. Before the original owner made any mistakes, his relationship with the original owner was quite good.

This explanation is quite reasonable.

"Is that not allowed? Do you have a problem with that?!" Zhu Yan suddenly exploded, "If you die, I'll die too. What's wrong with caring about you?!"

Wen Li was startled. "Okay, okay, is it really necessary to get so worked up?"

She looked up at the sky and noticed that the rain was about to get heavier, so she reminded them, "It's raining."

Zhu Yan said, "Can I carry you back now?"

"Oh." Wen Li felt a little awkward.

Zhu Yan didn't understand her attitude and didn't take any further action.

Wen Li shouted, "Okay, hurry up!"

If they lingered any longer, the two of them would be soaked to the bone.

Upon hearing this, Zhu Yan easily picked her up.

Wen Li felt her body suddenly lift into the air, and felt very uneasy. She subconsciously hugged Zhu Yan's neck.

Zhu Yan's cheeks flushed, and she stepped back.

Wen Li noticed his movement and thought he was disgusted with her, so she awkwardly withdrew her hand.

Zhu Yan waited for a while, but did not receive the response he wanted.

Zhu Yan said, "I'm going to run back now."

Wen Li: "Mm."

Zhu Yan added, "It will be soon."

Wen Li: "Okay, hurry up, or we'll all get soaked."

Zhu Yan paused for a moment, then said, "You can hug me like you did just now."

Wen Li: "..."

Wen Li's cheeks involuntarily flushed.

"Oh."

She stiffly hugged Zhu Yan's neck again.

Suddenly, my vision blurred.

That's really fast.

Before the rain had even started to get heavy, Zhu Yan had already carried her back to the cave entrance.

"Alright, we've arrived," Wen Li said.

Zhu Yan said, "I'll take you back to the cave."

Wen Li: "That works too."

Xin Yuan must have heard the commotion and came out of the cave.

He was stunned when he saw Wen Li in Zhu Yan's arms.
