Chapter 102: Messy
When Chu Qingyang saw the aircraft, the wariness in his eyes suddenly disappeared.

The aircraft flew onto the road, and Ye Qiumian jumped off.

"How has everything been going lately?" Ye Qiumian asked as she put away the aircraft.

Chu Qingyang stepped forward and reported, "It went very smoothly."

Nan Shaohua asked curiously, "Sister Ye, where did you go all day?"

"I went for a stroll," Ye Qiumian said casually.

Nan Shaohua responded with an "oh," knowing that Sister Ye was just being perfunctory.

However, since she didn't want to tell him, Nan Shaohua tactfully changed the subject.

"Sister Ye, we cleaned ten kilometers today. There were far fewer abandoned cars on the highway later on, so the cleanup went much faster..."

Under Nan Shaohua's eloquent narration, Ye Qiumian learned exactly what they had done that day, and even what they had eaten.

"Okay, I understand." Ye Qiumian spoke up, stopping Nan Shaohua from continuing.

Then he took out his flying machine and flew away in a flash.

She went to the location of the abandoned car that hadn't been burned yet, conjured flames at her fingertips, and flicked them onto the car.

After a busy day, the progress of burning the abandoned cars finally caught up with Chu Qingyang's location.

It was already late, the sky was gradually darkening, and twilight was quietly descending.

The dim, yellowish light on the horizon cast long shadows of everyone on the highway.

Ye Qiu Mian had just finished a long day of running around, and her stomach was growling with hunger.

A large pot was set up by the roadside, filled with a fragrant beef soup.

The large iron basin next to it contained the baked flatbreads that the team members had made themselves that afternoon.

A simple table was placed in front of Ye Qiumian, on which sat a bowl of steaming beef soup.

Two freshly baked flatbreads were placed next to it, their sesame seeds glistening under the light.

She picked up a baked bun, about to break it open and put it into the beef soup.

A smoky aroma of wheat mingled with the fragrance of beef broth wafted up, intensifying the emptiness in my stomach.

She picked up a piece of softened flatbread and put it in her mouth; the soft flatbread was soaked in beef broth.

With a gentle sip, the juice flowed out, its aroma instantly whetting her appetite.

Just then, a series of hurried footsteps sounded, and a little boy of about five or six years old ran up to her.

His dirty fingers almost poked into the beef in her bowl.

His voice, though childish, carried an undeniable air of arrogance: "Give it to me! I want to eat that!"

Behind the boy was a woman in her thirties, with messy hair plastered to her forehead and a wrinkled T-shirt.

The woman caught up with the boy in a few steps, grabbed his arm, and put on a deliberately feigned look of weakness.

She spoke in a low voice, just enough for a few passersby to hear: "Hey girl, look at this child, he hasn't eaten anything properly all day, he's really craving it. Your soup looks really delicious, could... could you spare him a little bit? Just a little bit, it won't take up much of your time."

The woman's eyes were glued to the bowl of beef soup, and she kept swallowing as she spoke.

Ye Qiumian frowned and glanced at the woman.

The calculation in a woman's eyes is impossible to hide. Ye Qiu Mian didn't speak, but frowned and moved the bowl closer to herself.

The woman, however, pressed her advantage, moving closer and saying, "Please, sister, have mercy on him, look how skinny he is..."

"Get out." Ye Qiumian's voice carried a hint of coldness.

The little boy was stunned for two seconds, probably because he had never been yelled at like that before. The next second, he burst into tears, plopped down on the ground, and started throwing a tantrum.

She kicked her legs hard against the ground, one of her sandals flying off, and cried out in a heart-wrenching voice, "I want to eat! I want hers! She won't give it to me! You bad woman! I want to eat!" Her tears mixed with the ash on her face, making her look like a little kitten.

Seeing this, the woman immediately changed her expression, squatted down, and patted the boy's back to comfort him: "Don't cry, sweetie, don't cry, Mommy will talk to her..."

After a few words of coaxing, the woman suddenly turned and glared at her, her voice rising sharply, and she shouted to the surroundings in a tearful voice, "Girl, why are you like this? It's just a bite to eat! Why are you getting so angry with a child? It's such a small thing, why say such hurtful things? How can you be so heartless?"

As soon as she finished speaking, several passersby who had initially just been watching the commotion suddenly changed their expressions.

Someone recognized Ye Qiumian. Wasn't she the one who killed a group of strong men the night before last?

They even witnessed her kill those people and destroy the evidence, after which no one dared to provoke this group again.

Seeing this woman dare to morally blackmail her by pointing her finger at her, they couldn't help but whisper among themselves.

"Is this woman crazy? How dare you mess with her?"

"They're probably used to taking advantage of others, and they actually dare to try and take advantage of her."

Seeing this, Nan Shaohua, who was not far away, quickly walked over.

His tone was icy: "What do you mean 'just one bite to eat'? That was also something we searched for with great effort. How dare you? You think you can just take it whenever you want? If you haven't taught your child well, take him home and teach him. What are you doing here causing trouble?"

Chu Qingyang stood coldly behind Ye Qiumian, and the others also gathered around.

They looked at the woman with utter indifference, as if she were a dead person.

The woman was startled by the commotion; her face turned pale instantly, and she shrank back, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes.

But she was clearly not one to give up easily. Seeing that she couldn't win the argument and was surrounded and criticized, she suddenly cried out "Ouch!" and lay down on the ground, her limbs flailing wildly.

"This is bullying! Is there no justice in this world? Not only do they not give us food, but they also bully us orphans and widows because they outnumber us! Why is my life so miserable!" she shouted as she slid on the ground. Her already dirty clothes were covered in dust, and her hair was disheveled, making her look like an unreasonable shrew.

Ye Qiumian sat on a small stool, watching the farce unfold before her, her brows furrowing even more deeply.

At first, I was just impatient with being disturbed, but later I became annoyed by being morally coerced.

But seeing the woman lying on the ground throwing a tantrum and acting unreasonably, a surge of anger welled up from the bottom of his heart.

She was still clutching the baked bun in her hand, the warmth seeping through her fingertips, but she had no appetite at all.

She'd seen people cheat before, but never one so brazenly self-righteous.

It's as if not giving her anything is a huge sin.

The surrounding chatter, the woman's cries, and the boy's still-sob complaints swirled around her like a tangled mess, making her temples throb.

Ye Qiumian slowly put down the fire-roasted bun in her hand, her eyes gradually turning cold.

Her eyes, which had just been showing signs of weariness, now looked as if they were covered with a thin layer of ice.

She stood up, looking down at the woman throwing a tantrum on the ground. The "slight anger" she felt had already turned into real murderous intent.

It wasn't because I was disturbed, but because this blatant shamelessness was utterly annoying.
