Chapter 91 The Dark Dream

"You saw me when I was a child? In Dian City? Have you ever been to our village?"

Listening to the man's words, she asked a question.

The man chuckled again: "Still pretending. Qin Leyan, you're twenty-five years old this year, from Jinghai. The year I investigated you, you were only sixteen. Your father is the director of the municipal bureau, your mother is a university professor, and your uncle is the richest man in Jinghai. Do I need to go into more detail?"

"That year, I had just killed my godfather and seized all the power. Thinking back to you, a little kid from many years ago, I thought I'd investigate your background and bring you to my side."

"I didn't expect them to have such a powerful background; they're quite difficult to deal with. But now that they've arrived, it seems it's all fate."

"You must have erased all your information before coming undercover, right? Too bad, it's useless to me now."

She looked at him: "I don't know who you're talking about."

The man nodded: "Okay, that's fine. I'll assume your name is Su Miaoyi. It's just a name, it doesn't matter what it is, as long as I know who you are."

"What I want to say is, don't worry, I won't kill you. I'll make you my person, turn you into a qualified assassin. Then, one day, I'll send you to them and kill them."

Tears streamed down her face as she sobbed, “I don’t want to kill anyone, I’m too scared to kill anyone. I came back with you because I didn’t want to stay in a place like a casino anymore. I just wanted your protection so I wouldn’t be bullied and I could have money to spend. I don’t want to kill anyone, I’m too scared, I really am too scared.”

The man wiped away her tears with his thumb: "Okay, stop crying. As long as you cooperate, the hypnosis won't be too painful. The premise is that you cooperate. Otherwise, it will be much more painful psychologically than being locked up here these past few days."

Su Miaoyi opened her eyes, looked into the darkness of the room, and suddenly sat up.

Shen Yanzhou, sitting on the chair next to her, was startled by her sudden movement: "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Su Miaoyi gasped for breath and hugged herself tightly: "It's so dark."

Shen Yanzhou quickly turned on the light in the ward.

After the lights in the ward came on, Su Miaoyi looked around.

Shen Yanzhou stood by the bed: "Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"

Su Miaoyi looked up at him, stared blankly for a few seconds, then suddenly moved forward and grasped his forearms with both hands.

Shen Yanzhou looked down at her hand, then back at her.

He looked at her red and swollen eyes without saying a word.

Su Miaoyi slowly tightened her grip on his arm.

She slowly lowered her head.

She seemed to have just had a terrible dream. She couldn't remember what she dreamt about, but she felt it was very dark and terrifying.

She misses home.

I feel really bad.

Moreover, this feeling was amplified after seeing Shen Yanzhou.

For a fleeting moment, she felt that Shen Yanzhou would disappear before her eyes, and then the place would plunge into darkness.

She will still experience terrifying things.

So she grabbed his arm, not wanting him to suddenly disappear from her sight.

Shen Yanzhou looked down at her, feeling her hand tightening its grip and sensing her fear.

After a while, he asked, "What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"

Su Miaoyi shook her head: "I'm in the hospital?"

"Yes." Shen Yanzhou didn't pull his hand away, letting her hold it. "I heard from Yan Cheng that you fainted at the Municipal Bureau. The doctor's diagnosis was overwork."

Su Miaoyi thought for a moment: "What are you doing here?"

“I called you to ask if you were going back to the old town for the New Year, or if you wanted them to come here,” Shen Yanzhou said. “Yan Cheng answered the phone and said you were at the hospital, so I came over. The doctor just gave us the test results, and Yan Cheng is in the doctor’s office. He told me to stay here and watch over you.”

Before Su Miaoyi could say anything more, the door to the ward was pushed open.

Shen Yanzhou turned and looked towards the door.

Su Miaoyi looked up.

Zhuang Yanzheng walked in, his gaze falling on Su Miaoyi's hands.

He glanced at Su Miaoyi's eyes, which were as red as a rabbit's, and then at Shen Yanzhou.

"What are you doing?" Su Miaoyi looked at her hand and quickly let go of Shen Yanzhou's arm: "Sorry."

"It's nothing." Shen Yanzhou took a step back and looked at Zhuang Yanzheng. "Why are you here?"

"I came as soon as I finished my work," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "What are you doing here?"

“I’m happy to be here.” Shen Yanzhou suddenly found him somewhat of an eyesore.

Zhuang Yanzheng glanced at him, ignored him, sat down on the chair by the bed, and put the food he had bought on the bedside table.

Once he sat down, Shen Yanzhou had nowhere to sit.

“Stand still,” Zhuang Yanzheng said.

Shen Yanzhou ignored him.

Su Miaoyi moved to the side: "Sit on the bed."

"It's alright, no need." Shen Yanzhou stood by the bed.

"Are you feeling better?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked Su Miaoyi.

"I feel fine." Su Miaoyi genuinely felt that nothing was wrong.

I had a terrible headache for a while.

Just like that time I encountered that man and woman on Xiangyao Street, I had the same headache.

"Did Cao Hong say anything else after that?" Su Miaoyi asked, then glanced at Shen Yanzhou.

Shen Yanzhou looked at her and said, "The doctor said you should rest well."

"I'm fine now." Su Miaoyi met his gaze, and her voice trailed off as she spoke.

Zhuang Yanzheng looked at the two of them.

I felt that something must have happened before I arrived.

Shen Yanzhou seems easy to get along with, but he actually has a lot of flaws.

Normally, if a woman grabbed his arm like that, he'd probably jump up and punch a hole in the roof.

Shen Yanzhou and Su Miaoyi looked at each other for a few seconds, then Shen Yanzhou said, "Okay, you two chat, I'm going out for a walk."

Before leaving, he glared at Zhuang Yanzheng.

Zhuang Yanzheng: "."

"You didn't say anything bad about me to him before I came, did you? Why is he always targeting me?" Zhuang Yanzheng said.

"As expected of Captain Zhuang, you even guessed that," Su Miaoyi said.

Zhuang Yanzheng looked at her: "."

Su Miaoyi sat cross-legged on the bed and looked at the food on the bedside table: "It's not like he's only been targeting you for the first time. It's not surprising."

Zhuang Yanzheng took out the food and opened it: "What? You know us very well?"

Su Miaoyi glanced at him, then looked at the sushi.

She has seen Zhuang Yanzheng many times in the past six months, so it's fair to say she knows him somewhat.

She had only met Shen Yanzhou a few times and couldn't say she knew him well.

"I'm fairly familiar with it," Su Miaoyi said, staring at the sushi.

Zhuang Yanzheng handed her chopsticks: "Eat quickly, your eyes are about to fall off."

Su Miaoyi smiled, took the chopsticks, and tasted one: "Delicious."

Zhuang Yanzheng then opened all the other items he had bought.

"These are all my favorite foods," Su Miaoyi said vaguely.

Zhuang Yanzheng lowered his gaze, paused, and said, "If I had known that these were all your favorite dishes, I should have sprinkled some cilantro on them."

Su Miaoyi glanced at him: "He who eats another's food is bound to do his bidding, I won't hold it against you."

Zhuang Yanzheng didn't say anything.
