Chapter 80: Did you see the murderer?
"What did you see?" Yan Cheng asked in a low voice.

Su Miaoyi nodded.

Yan Cheng didn't ask any more questions.

Su Miaoyi went to the inner room to look at another corpse.

It's a girl.

She looks to be only fifteen or sixteen years old.

Yan Cheng also came over.

The body was covered with a white sheet.

Su Miaoyi lifted it up a bit and found that her pajamas had been torn.

She didn't lift it any further, but covered her up a little more with the white cloth, leaving only her face and neck exposed.

There were bluish-purple marks on his neck, like fingerprints.

I was choked.

"Death by suffocation?" Su Miaoyi asked.

Yan Cheng nodded.

Su Miaoyi touched the spots on the deceased's neck but didn't see anything.

She determined the time of death by rigor mortis, and the incident occurred between 11 p.m. and midnight last night.

“He was assaulted before his death,” Yan Cheng said. “We’ve already collected a swab; we should be able to find his DNA.”

Su Miaoyi frowned, opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end she said nothing.

She covered the girl's head with a white cloth and gently touched it through the cloth.

"Is it on the stairs outside?" Su Miaoyi asked.

“My upstairs neighbor,” Zhuang Yanzheng said as he walked over. “His surname is Zhong, and he’s seventy-seven years old.”

"The time of death was also last night," Yan Cheng said. "The girl's throat was slit about half an hour after she died."

"Only the grandfather and grandson lived on the sixth floor. The deceased from outside and his wife lived upstairs," Zhuang Yanzheng said.

"How did you find out?" Su Miaoyi asked, a little puzzled. It was almost noon.

Logically speaking, people their age should get up very early.

They should have called the police much earlier.

"And what happened last night, didn't the old lady on the seventh floor notice that her husband hadn't come home?" Su Miaoyi asked.

“The old man has a habit of going out to play cards at night and staying at his card-playing friends’ houses,” Zhuang Yanzheng said. “I heard from the neighbors that the old lady upstairs is a homebody and may not come out even once a month.”

"It was the neighbor from the fifth floor who came up to borrow something from the old lady on the seventh floor. When she got to the sixth floor, she found the body and called the police," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "The old lady on the seventh floor came out, saw the body, had a heart attack, and was taken to the hospital."

“Some tenants have moved out here, mostly elderly people, whose daughters and sons mostly work in other cities. We have already notified them, and they are on their way back.”

Su Miaoyi got up and looked around.

There were signs of it being ransacked everywhere.

very messy.

"Breakthrough?" Su Miaoyi asked.

"The door lock was pried open with a wire," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "They also hid all the knives in the kitchen. They searched places where the elderly habitually hide money."

"An experienced thief?" Su Miaoyi asked.

For most people, if a thief breaks into their home, their first instinct is to look for a knife in the kitchen.

Therefore, experienced thieves will hide knives in the kitchen after entering a room to avoid being slashed.

Su Miaoyi looked to the side and, seeing that no one else was there, said, "I did hear the old man in the living room say in what I saw that he should give all the money to him and not to touch his granddaughter."

"Did you see the killer's face?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked.

“No,” Su Miaoyi said. “The murderer was wearing a hood and did look like a habitual thief.”

Zhuang Yanzheng nodded, paused for two seconds, and said, "Let's take the body back first. We'll discuss whether to do an autopsy when the family arrives."

“Okay,” Yan Cheng said.

When Shen Yanzhou came out of the apartment building, he was still waiting outside.

The car was already covered with a layer of snow.

Because there was a case going on here, his car didn't approach the building.

Su Miaoyi trotted through the snow to the car.

Despite the heavy snow, there were still quite a few people outside watching. They were all covered in snow.

Shen Yanzhou rolled down the car window: "Going to the Municipal Bureau or back? I'll give you a ride?"

I, Su Miaoyi, didn't want to trouble him anymore, but it seemed there were no extra seats available over there.

The Lunar New Year is just around the corner, and a murder has occurred in a residential building.

Three lives lost.

Many people from the Municipal Bureau came.

"What are you standing outside for? Get in the car." Zhuang Yanzheng walked over, not being polite at all. "Have him take you to the Municipal Bureau."

Shen Yanzhou looked at him.

Zhuang Yanzheng opened the car door directly: "Let's go to the Municipal Bureau first. Qi Feng is leading a group to conduct interviews in the area; I'll go check it out."

"Okay." Su Miaoyi patted the snow off her clothes and got into the car.

Zhuang Yanzheng said, "On the way back, contact Lu Zhishen and draw a sketch of the murderer."

Su Miaoyi looked up at him and asked, "Is it alright?"

As she spoke, she glanced sideways at Shen Yanzhou.

“It’s alright, I trust him. The sketch won’t have any impact. It’s almost Chinese New Year, we need to hurry up and solve the case,” Zhuang Yanzheng said. “If you don’t believe me, confiscate his phone and then take him to the city police station.”

“Then I went and filed a complaint against you two,” Shen Yanzhou said.

"Just complain about him, it has nothing to do with me," Su Miaoyi immediately distanced herself from the matter.

Zhuang Yanzheng glanced at her, then closed the car door.

Shen Yanzhou rolled down the car window again and said to Zhuang Yanzheng, "There are drinks in the back."

As he spoke, he handed the coffee from the armrest box to Su Miaoyi and turned up the air conditioning temperature.

Su Miaoyi took it, held it in her hand, and warmed her hands.

Zhuang Yanzheng said, "Take them back to the Municipal Bureau and let them drink them."

Shen Yanzhou didn't say anything more, started the car and drove away.

"A murder case?" Shen Yanzhou asked.

He was waiting outside when he saw the body bag being carried out.

more than one.

"Hmm." Su Miaoyi sighed, "The New Year is coming soon, a rare time for family reunion, but we can't be together."

After saying that, she suddenly swayed.

Shen Yanzhou's car skidded, and he quickly grabbed the steering wheel.

Su Miaoyi turned her head and looked at him in shock.

Shen Yanzhou coughed lightly.

"Should I drive?" Su Miaoyi felt her safety was threatened.

Shen Yanzhou glanced at her.

Su Miaoyi smiled and took out her phone: "I haven't touched a car since I got my driver's license. If you let me drive, we'll probably have to experience snow driving."

"How about we give it a try?" Shen Yanzhou suddenly suggested.

Su Miaoyi looked at him, paused, and said, "I have something to do today, let's do it another day."

“Okay.” Shen Yanzhou replied in a very agreeable tone.

Su Miaoyi contacted Lu Zhishen's portrait.

She described the killer's appearance from inside the car.

Shen Yanzhou listened quietly from the side.

Before even reaching the Municipal Bureau, Lu Zhishen had already drawn the portrait.

Because the murderer was wearing a hood, only his eyes were visible.

Therefore, the first portrait Lu Zhishen drew was of someone wearing a hood.

Then the hood was removed, and based on Su Miaoyi's description of the face shape, only a pair of eyes were drawn on the face, without any other facial features.

Su Miaoyi looked at the portrait, sent it to Zhuang Yanzheng, chatted casually with Lu Zhishen for a few minutes, and then hung up the phone.

Seeing that she had finished her work, Shen Yanzhou asked, "Did you see the murderer?"
