Chapter 32 Mr. Huo, please have some self-respect
Su Ruoyun's brain went blank for a couple of seconds. Before she could pretend to be clueless and figure out how to get out of it, Huo Jingcheng turned to look at her, a lazy smile in his eyes, and changed the subject, "Mind the smell of smoke?"
Su Ruoyun shook her head. "Please do as you please."
Huo Jingcheng took out a cigarette from his suit pocket, shook it out of the cigarette case, leaving half of the cigarette sticking out. He then took the cigarette out with his long, well-defined fingers and put it to his lips.
His features were distinct and well-proportioned, and his eyes were habitually slightly narrowed, with a hint of a half-smile, adding to his frivolous air.
He leaned back lazily in his chair, his shirt clinging to his abdomen, subtly outlining the lines of his abdominal muscles, exuding a captivating masculine charm.
Su Ruoyun cupped the teacup in both hands, her smooth fingertips leaving a pale pink tinge on the porcelain white cup. She gently raised the cup to her lips, tilted her head back slightly, and let the warm water flow down her throat, as if to push down the thoughts hidden in her heart along with the water.
With a "clang," his thumb struck the lighter, and the pale blue flame of the lighter flickered across his handsome face for a moment. After lighting it, Huo Jingcheng casually took the cigarette from his lips, slowly exhaled, and the bluish-white smoke rose slowly, vaguely blurring his facial features.
Su Ruoyun casually placed the cup back on the low table, biting her lip lightly. Her thoughts drifted back to the scene at the Spanish restaurant a couple of days ago, where his attire was particularly eye-catching...
He was wearing a well-tailored white shirt with a pair of platinum cufflinks adorning the cuffs.
That seemed to be the first time she had ever seen Huo Jingcheng wearing a tie.
A black checkerboard pattern, with a silver tie clip neatly attached, featuring simple and smooth lines and a cool metallic sheen.
She was both noble and abstinent.
Su Ruoyun shook her head, trying to forcefully banish the romantic thoughts from her mind. She sighed softly and muttered to herself, "Male beauty is a trap."
The man's gaze swept over her casually, taking in the sight of her shaking her head to herself, but he didn't hear what she was muttering.
A cigarette dangled lightly from his thin lips, the crimson flame flickering with his breath. His voice was indistinct and languid as he slowly asked, "Does the teahouse offer door-to-door service?"
In this society, door-to-door services seem to be shrouded in a somewhat obscure connotation.
Upon hearing this, Su Ruoyun frowned slightly, her beautiful eyes fixed on Huo Jingcheng, without answering him.
Huo Jingcheng's expression was open and natural, seemingly without any ambiguity. Su Ruoyun wondered if she had misunderstood.
After watching for about ten seconds, Huo Jingcheng calmly explained, "There are elderly people in my family who like to drink tea."
When the Huo family elders were mentioned, Su Ruoyun's expression relaxed. "If your elders need this service, the teahouse can provide it. However, the cost may be a bit higher because preparing tea sets can be quite troublesome."
"Older adults should drink teas such as ripe Pu-erh, black tea, dark tea, and aged white tea. Drinking tea can lower cholesterol, prevent cardiovascular disease, and improve metabolism."
"The most important thing is moderation."
"A suitable amount?" Huo Jingcheng's lips moved slightly as he silently repeated her words. His gaze fell on the cups and saucers, and he raised an eyebrow, seemingly asking casually, "You're not happy that I came to the teahouse?"
"..." Su Ruoyun.
Is that what she meant?
Her dark almond-shaped eyes blinked, her thick, curled eyelashes casting a soft shadow on her eyelids. As her gaze shifted, her eyes shimmered with a captivating light. She didn't know how the topic had suddenly veered off course, but she asked, "Tell me the truth?"
Huo Jingcheng was amused by her words. He looked at her with interest, a slight smile curving his lips, and said in a teasing tone, "Otherwise, do I want to hear lies?" Su Ruoyun gently held the cup with both hands, nodding her head incessantly like a chicken pecking at rice. "I'm very happy."
As if afraid that Huo Jingcheng would misunderstand, she quickly explained, "I am very happy that you are willing to spend money to buy my tea and my service."
These words clearly indicated that Huo Jingcheng was simply a customer of the teahouse.
Then, she subtly began promoting the tea, “The teahouse has more than just the Lion Peak Longjing you bought a few days ago, there are also Taiping Houkui, Jin Jun Mei and so on,” Su Ruoyun said, her words more melodious than a song, “Of course, I’m not forcing you to buy, I just want to share these good teas with you.”
"I remember that Boss Yun has a copy of the 'Classic of Tea' from the Hundred Rivers and Seas of Learning?" Huo Jingcheng said leisurely.
The topic of conversation was quite broad, and Su Ruoyun raised an eyebrow slightly, "The Classic of Tea?"
"Yes, I spent some time at Boss Yun's place last time and found myself very interested in Lu Yu's 'The Classic of Tea'."
"..." Su Ruoyun.
She forced a polite smile, but felt somewhat helpless inside. She replied, "It seems to be around here. I'll go look for it for you."
She always left things lying around, and didn't know where she had put the "Classic of Tea." She used her right hand to support herself on the tea table to get up and walked to the rosewood table next to her.
A blue-and-white porcelain vase sits casually on top, its body as white as jade, adorned with blue-and-white patterns. Papers are scattered haphazardly beside it, making the entire tabletop appear cluttered and disorderly.
Various blueprints were spread out on the table. The footsteps behind her gradually approached. Su Ruoyun carefully sorted through the architectural drawings, her movements gentle as she flipped through them, her eyes glancing at the heavy shadow on the rosewood table.
She realized that Huo Jingcheng was standing behind her, her heart tightened, and she unconsciously clenched her fists, her searching movements quickening.
In an instant, a large hand wearing an expensive steel watch rested on the edge of the table.
Su Ruoyun searched high and low, but couldn't find the "Classic of Tea." She could also feel eyes on her, and a sense of unease crept in. She couldn't help but turn around, blurting out, "Maybe I should go back and try again later—"
In an instant, the girl's voice vanished, as if a mute button had been pressed, and the surroundings fell into a deathly silence, so quiet that one could hear each other's disordered breathing.
Her heart trembled violently, like a boulder thrown into a calm lake, causing ripples to spread wildly throughout her heart.
Rose-colored lips collided with Huo Jingcheng's thin lips, which carried a faint scent of wood and tobacco as he lowered his head.
A fleeting kiss.
She blinked, and a burning blush instantly spread across her face, as if she had been burned. She seemed to wake from a dream, and in a panic, she raised her hand and pushed Huo Jingcheng away with all her might.
This was her first time having close contact with a man. She stood there stunned, bewildered, a hint of shyness spreading across her face, and her bright eyes becoming more evasive.
Time seemed to freeze, an awkward silence hanging in the air. After a long while, Su Ruoyun finally managed to stammer out a sentence:
"Mr. Huo, please have some self-respect."
