Chapter 27 My name is Su Ruoyun

Chapter 27 My name is Su Ruoyun

Seeing Su Ruoyun's undisguised surprise, Huo Jingcheng hesitated before speaking, then changed his mind and told a small lie. He raised an eyebrow, his tone equally filled with doubt, "Ms. Yun?"

Su Ruoyun stood still, not venturing any further inside. Her eyes swept over the surroundings. The private room was simply furnished and easily visible. She didn't find a third person in the vast space, a fact that forced her to steel herself and continue forward.

Walking to the round table, Huo Jingcheng stood up unhurriedly, his posture upright. He wore a simple, close-fitting white shirt, and a leather belt around his waist that easily outlined his perfect figure with broad shoulders and a narrow waist. He spoke slowly: "Is Boss Yun here for a blind date?"

Su Ruoyun's mind was still a mess, completely confused and unable to figure out what was going on. The person in the private room shouldn't be Chen Zheyan, the second young master of the Chen family, but Huo Jingcheng.

When Huo Jingcheng asked her question, she shook her head and answered honestly, "No, I just wanted to have a meal and then make things clear."

Today, Su Ruoyun was just going through the motions with this meal, so she didn't put much effort into her outfit.

Her outfit was simple: a white T-shirt, a well-tailored apricot-colored suit, light blue jeans, and sneakers. It was clean, refreshing, and added a touch of competence. Her thick, black hair was casually tied into a low bun, with a few playful strands of hair falling around her ears.

Compared to her simple attire, Huo Jingcheng...

Su Ruoyun pondered, glancing at him casually from head to toe, and thought he seemed a bit... showy.

She couldn't help but ask again, "Why... are you here?"

Huo Jingcheng didn't rush to answer her question. Instead, he considerately reached out and pulled out a chair for Su Ruoyun. "Zheyan said he had something come up tonight and couldn't get away, so he asked me to come over."

Su Ruoyun nodded, her fingers tightening slightly as she gripped her phone, and tentatively asked, "Then... how about we... go home separately?"
Before she could utter the last four words, Huo Jingcheng had already pressed the bell and summoned a waiter.

The waiter was waiting at the door. Because of her entry, Su Ruoyun missed the best opportunity to speak, and was forced to sit down.

Huo Jingcheng gestured for the waiter to go to Su Ruoyun's side so that she could order first.

Su Ruoyun glanced at the menu, ordered a few dishes as a token gesture, and pushed the menu in front of Huo Jingcheng. After Huo Jingcheng ordered a few more dishes, the waiter took the menu and the ordering machine and left.

Perhaps because they knew the two people's identities, the restaurant served the food quickly. After ordering, bread was served as a pre-meal bread, and a waiter came in with a food cart shortly after.

We ordered all the signature Spanish dishes—paella, Madrid-style fried mushrooms, Madrid-style stewed tripe, and shrimp in olive oil…

The signature seafood rice, garnished with Argentine red shrimp and mussels, was served with disposable gloves on, and the server helped peel the shrimp shells.

The two ate with grace and elegance.

Halfway through the meal, Su Ruoyun poked at the peeled shrimp on her plate with a silver fork. They were so tender and bouncy. She casually asked, "Aren't you curious about me?"

"curious."

After saying that, Huo Jingcheng picked up the towel beside him and slowly wiped his fingers, which were stained with sauce, before adding, "But it's your freedom to say whether you want to or not."

Actually, there's nothing wrong with talking about this.

After poking the shrimp with the silver fork until it was a mess, Su Ruoyun slowly said, "My name is Su Ruoyun, and I am a member of the Su family."

Just one sentence, nothing more, was enough to reveal his identity. "Ruoyun?" Huo Jingcheng silently repeated, then raised an eyebrow, immediately realizing what was going on. His long eyelashes cast a deep shadow on his eyelids, and his voice was low, carrying a hint of uncertainty: "Little Bamboo?"

The two sat close together, and that casual male voice with a Beijing accent drifted into Su Ruoyun's ears.

The nickname was suddenly on the lips of a stranger, and a silver fork lightly scraped across the plate, making a harsh scraping sound.

Whether he truly knew her nickname or was simply referring to the character "筠" (yun), which means bamboo, Su Ruoyun couldn't help but blush.

She picked up the glass of red wine beside her and took a small sip. Fortunately, the waiter brought the dessert into the private room in time, which eased Su Ruoyun's embarrassment.

The dessert was a grapefruit cheesecake. The cheesecake melted in your mouth with a lingering, creamy texture, and the grapefruit flavor was refreshing and unique. Paired with a silky scoop of vanilla ice cream, it was absolutely delicious.

Sweets help release dopamine, making people feel happy. After eating a cake, Su Ruoyun felt much happier.

Night fell softly, and the city lights began to twinkle.

Sorry, we're leaving right after we finish eating. Su Ruoyun accompanied Huo Jingcheng for a stroll in the courtyard, ostensibly to "disperse the smell of alcohol," and the two walked side by side.

The surrounding wall lights lit up, casting a bright, warm glow that was enough to make one see the path beneath one's feet. The dim, yellow light poured down on people as if they were draped in a thin veil of pale gold, creating a halo of light.

Su Ruoyun was focused on the cobblestone path beneath her feet when she suddenly looked up listlessly and glanced around. The next second, she abruptly stopped in her tracks.

Beyond the swaying bamboo shadows, she suddenly spotted two people standing in the pavilion not far away. She recognized the woman, and she also recognized the man.

Su Ruoyun quickly reached forward and grabbed Huo Jingcheng's forearm.

She had a strong grip and pulled the person back in one go, and then...

The two people bumped into each other.

Huo Jingcheng was caught off guard and pulled from behind. He turned around and Su Ruoyun fell into his arms.

The toes of the sneakers bumped into the leather shoes, and the jeans brushed against the cool, silky fabric of the suit pants, making a rustling sound.

Her nose touched the man's strong shoulder, and a wave of soreness washed over her, bringing tears to her eyes.
Once she regained her senses and realized that she and Huo Jingcheng were too close, Su Ruoyun hastily wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with her thumb and subconsciously took a step back.

Perhaps misfortune never comes singly, her heel stepped on a pebble, her right foot slipped, she lost her balance, her body swayed back and forth, and just as she was about to fall again, a long arm stretched out in mid-air.

The man's large, well-defined hand easily gripped Su Ruoyun's wrist.

His warm palms gripped her slender inner wrists, his long fingers fitting perfectly against her delicate skin, his calloused fingertips seemingly grazing the bulging pale blue veins.

The touch was like a feather brushing against her skin, and a tingling sensation spread from the point of contact, causing Su Ruoyun's heart to race.

The results will be out tomorrow, so the update will be a little late. Both updates should be in the evening.
