Chapter 23 The Xu Family's Fangs

Xu Mao glanced sideways and scanned Bai Jing up and down.

Seeing her plump, fleshy body like a freshly peeled lychee, and her swaying waist like a willow swaying in the wind, I felt a surge of lust in my lower abdomen, and those vulgar, frivolous words were already swirling on my tongue.

But the middle-aged manager had sharp eyes and saw through his scheme at a glance. He clasped his hands in greeting and said, "Please forgive me, Madam Xu. My young master is just outspoken and was simply curious about the white cat."

Xu Mao glanced at his steward, saw the man's winking, and then pursed his lips and gave up.

"Coming from a powerful family, yet lacking any discernment." Xu Mingxian's lips curled into a mocking smile.

"What did you say, little brat!"

Seeing that even a child dared to mock him, Xu Mao immediately roared and stood up abruptly.

"You, an adult, are not going to argue with a six-year-old child like me."

After Xu Mingxian and Xu Mingshu were born, the Xu family's financial situation was no longer as poor as it had been initially.

Xu Chuan and his wife, along with his older brothers, were all pampered, which made him a bit mischievous and always outspoken.

The middle-aged manager asked with a smile, "Young master previously said that we lack discernment, what made you say that?"

“My sister has a tiger cub in her hand. You’re calling it a white cat? You’re blind.”

The middle-aged manager was taken aback.

Xu Maoze burst into laughter, "Tiger cub? Do you think I've never seen a tiger before? There's no such thing as a white-furred one."

"Treating a white cat as a tiger, no wonder he's a child raised by Xu Chuan."

Xu Mingshu was also furious, pointing her finger at Xu Mao, "Xiaobai, bite it."

Xiao Bai seemed to understand Xu Mingshu's words, and looked at Xu Mao with a fierce glint in its crimson eyes.

And it opened its mouth, revealing its fangs that hadn't fully grown in yet.

"Xueji, who are you going to bite!"

"I told you not to let Xiaobai bite people randomly!"

A friendly voice came from outside the door.

Then Xu Chuan, Xu Mingwei, Sun Fugui, and Qian Youcai walked into the courtyard.

Seven or eight burly men dressed simply stood in front of several handcarts outside the door.

The cart was loaded with baskets of green jade pears.

"Father, you're back."

Xu Mingxian and Xu Mingshu ran towards Xu Chuan, shouting.

Bai Jing breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "My husband is back. Young Master Xu and the others have been waiting for a while."

Xu Chuan nodded, looked at Xu Mao, and said with a smile, "Brother Xu, it's been a long time."

"Father, this person just insulted you."

Xu Mingshu flashed her little tiger teeth and started tattling to Xu Chuan.

"You little brat!" Xu Mao glared at Xu Mingshu, his face full of anger.

“Master Xu, my young master was just joking. Please don’t take it to heart.”

The middle-aged manager tried to smooth things over with a forced smile.

"For the sake of Third Master, I will naturally not hold it against you. However, my Xu family has many things to attend to today, so we will not entertain you."

The middle-aged manager frowned slightly.

Xu Mao seemed not to understand, and continued to spout nonsense with a cold laugh: "I knew you wouldn't dare!"

"These are this year's Qingyu pears, right? Hand over the pears to us, and I'll let bygones be bygones for what your daughter did to me. My Xu family isn't stingy either; we won't skimp on the money for you."

"Brother Xu, are you talking nonsense?" Xu Chuan chuckled, stroking Xu Mingshu's head. "Why would I give my family's pears to you?"

“My family runs a fruit shop in the county town, and these green jade pears will all be sent there for our opening tomorrow.”

The middle-aged manager understood perfectly.

I knew I would have to go home empty-handed today.

The Xu family had been handing over the jade pears to the Xu family every year, simply because they saw the Xu family's strength and were biding their time.

"Xu Chuan, how dare you refuse to hand him over to me? Do you intend to offend the Xu family?!"

"What kind of talk is this? If I don't sell you my things, it's an offense. Would you, Xu family, be willing to sell me your twenty acres of medicinal herbs at 30% below market price?"

"If possible, it's not that we can't do this deal."

"What a joke!" Xu Mao laughed in extreme anger.

The middle-aged steward, not wanting the relationship between the two families to become increasingly strained, quickly cupped his hands to Xu Chuan and said, "Since Patriarch Xu already has plans for those jade pears, then we will not disturb you any longer." With that, he forcefully pulled Xu Mao away.

Xu Mao still looked reluctant.

"Manager Wang, why are you pulling me away? This Xu Chuan is ungrateful; I was just about to teach him a lesson."

"With the men we brought?" the middle-aged manager retorted. "Even if we could teach him a lesson, if he doesn't sell, can we just forcibly take it from him? Aren't we afraid he'll file a complaint with the county government, saying we forcibly stole his jade pear?"

"At that time, our Xu family will not only suffer a great loss, but also lose our good reputation in the surrounding area."

"We should go back and tell Third Master about this, and let Third Master, Second Master, and the head of the family make a decision."

"Humph!"

After being told this by the middle-aged manager, Xu Mao had no choice but to reluctantly return home.

Xu Family Compound.

"Did Xu Chuan really say that?"

Master Xu sat at the head of the hall. After listening to the middle-aged steward's words, he stroked his beard and said, "That's enough. Things have come to this point, there's no need to hope anymore."

"I really underestimated Xu Chuan. I thought he was just an honest, timid farmer."

"However, as long as my Xu family manages its other businesses well, it will still prosper."

He paused for a moment, then added, "By the way, Steward Wang, did you say that the Xu family's fruit shop in the county town would open tomorrow?"

"Yes."

"Go and find out, and when you open tomorrow, go and give them a congratulatory gift."

"Even though we're all in Dongxi Village, we still have to maintain appearances."

"Yes, Third Master," the middle-aged steward replied and then withdrew.

"As for you, stay home these days and don't go out and cause trouble. Sigh, our lineage still depends on our godson."

"Yes, father."

Xu Mao was still very angry.

Xu Chuan used to bow down to him like a wilted weed, bend over like a tattered rag doll. How dare he treat him like this after only a few years?!

This stale air stuck in his throat, burning him more than if he had swallowed a hot coal!
"Hmph, I may not be able to deal with you, but I have a fine son."

"Qian'er is learning martial arts from his second uncle at the Black Wind Martial Arts School. He is the most promising person in the Xu family to become a first-class martial artist."

"Xu Chuan, isn't your fruit shop opening tomorrow? I want to see how you'll manage if things go wrong."

Xu Mao ignored his father's words and rode off to Qingjiang County.

Upon learning that Xu Mao had left the Xu residence, the middle-aged steward immediately reported it to Master Xu.

Master Xu waved his hand and said, "It's good for him to go to the county town to relax, as long as he doesn't provoke the Xu family."

"I only ask that the two families keep to themselves and not interfere with each other."

--------

Xu family.

"Shi Tou, you, Sun Fugui, and Qian Youcai deliver the jade pears to A Yuan. Go now."

“Yes, Father.” Xu Mingwei nodded.
Xu Mingxian looked at Xu Chuan and asked curiously, "Father, why didn't you teach that Xu fellow a lesson just now?"

"Yes, Xueji dislikes him too, and so does Xiaobai."

"Awoo~" The little white tiger was patted on the head and echoed in agreement.

"A person like him is a parasite on the Xu family. Wouldn't it be more useful to keep him around to hollow out and destroy the Xu family?"

Xu Chuan smiled confidently, "Besides, Father has his own uses for him. Tomorrow I'll take you to the county town to see a good show, and if possible, we can also vent our anger."

Xu Chuan patted their heads and said, "It's not noon yet, let's practice some more boxing."

"Father, didn't we practice this morning?" Xu Mingshu pouted unhappily.

Xu Chuan kept a straight face and remained silent.

Seeing this, the two had no choice but to obediently start practicing their boxing in the yard.

The white tiger cub escaped from Xu Mingshu's clutches.

He lay on the corridor floor, yawned, and leisurely basked in the sun.

In just half a month, it has gotten used to its current life and listens to Xu Mingshu very well.
