Chapter 105 might still be useful.

Zhong Yuan remained silent for a while before slowly saying, "Secretary Pan, I don't think we need to be so extreme."

"The most important thing now is to send special envoys and provide medicine to support the new army."

"I think we can use this traitor to our advantage."

Secretary Pan quickly understood Zhong Yuan's meaning: "Old Zhong, you mean to give this traitor false information, use him to lure the Japanese away, and use a feint to the east while attacking the west."

Zhong Yuan nodded slowly and said, "That's right, that's exactly what I mean."

"If this works out, the Japanese won't even spare him without us lifting a finger."

Secretary Pan's eyes lit up, and he nodded repeatedly, but soon he said with concern, "This method is good, but there are also risks."

"I'm afraid this traitor will find out, and then all our efforts will be in vain."

After a moment's thought, Zhong Yuan insisted, "I think this plan is highly feasible. If you have any questions, we can design a remedial plan."

"If anything unexpected happens, we will have time to react."

Secretary Pan tapped his fingers lightly on the table. After a while, he nodded and said, "It's decided then. The most urgent thing is to catch this rat."

Shanghai, HK District, 1258 North Sichuan Road.

The day after returning from the meeting at the Expeditionary Army Headquarters, Chen Yang received a transfer order from Nanjing.

The transfer order stated that he was relieved of his post as Director of the Economic Department and reassigned as an Economic Advisor to the Economic Department, while also being given the position of Commissioner of the General Administration of Customs.

This position is primarily for docks in Shanghai.

The Japanese wanted him to be in charge of short-distance transportation around Shanghai.

These include the Nan-Hu line (from Nanchang to Shanghai), the Hu-Nan line, the Shanghai-Jinling line, the Ning-Hang line, the Jinling-Hangzhou line, and the Xu-Hu line (from Xuzhou to Shanghai).

If you had a map, you would easily see that these routes have crossed four provinces: Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, and Anhui.

Therefore, Chen Yang now wields power equal to that of the Minister of Transportation in the new Nanjing government.

However, his position was only the head of the third section of the Southern Transportation Department.

A black sedan, bearing the Japanese Rising Sun Flag, drove into North Sichuan Road in the Japanese-occupied area.

After driving along North Sichuan Road for a long time, we stopped in front of a Western-style building.

Chen Yang got out of the car, looked up at the building in front of him, and felt a strange sense of familiarity.

When he saw the house number hanging above the Western-style building, Chen Yang suddenly realized what was going on.

This place is the future Chongguang Building, no wonder it feels so familiar.

Most people probably don't know what the name Chongguang Building means, but it would be much more memorable if it were given a different name.

Shanghai, Plum Blossom Tower.

Indeed, this Western-style building is the location of the Plum Blossom Building, the future headquarters of the Plum Agency founded by Kagesa Masaki.

Many people are misled into thinking that the Plum Blossom Tower is located in some Plum Blossom Alley.

In fact, Plum Blossom Building is a Western-style building because the surname of its founder, Kageyama Masaaki, is pronounced the same as the character for plum.

That's why it's called the Plum Blossom Agency.

It's actually the same idea as the Iwai Agency founded by Consul Hiroichi Iwai.

Of course, the Southern Transportation Department just happened to be opposite the Mei Agency, not in the same location.

"Hey, aren't you Chen Sang?" Chen Yang stood there for a long time, looking around, when a voice suddenly sounded beside him.

Chen Yang turned around and saw a figure getting out of a car. The person was dressed in a well-tailored Western suit. Chen Yang frowned, as if he vaguely remembered him. "You are Mr. Kobayashi."

The newcomer smiled and said, "Mr. Chen, you have a good memory. I am none other than Kobayashi Shuzo, formerly of the Ministry of Railway Construction."

"Why didn't you go in now that you're here, Mr. Chen?"

Chen Yang smiled and said, "It's nothing. It's my first time here, so I'm just standing here and looking around."

Kobayashi Shuzo glanced at his watch and said, "It's getting late, Chen-san, you'll be late if you don't go in soon."

"I heard that Minister Oshima is a very serious person who hates subordinates who are not punctual."

"Come on, let's go in together."

"Kobayashi-kun, please."

The two walked into the building with the words "Southern Transportation Department" hanging on it as they talked.

Like the Plum Blossom Building, this building is a Western-style structure.

The beige pebble-dash exterior wall has been weathered and mottled with varying shades of color by the passage of time and the damp air.
A few brown vines tightly entwined the two simplified Corinthian pilasters beside the porch.

Above the porch, a small, semi-circular cast iron balcony juts out, its delicate openwork vine-patterned railings swaying gently in the morning breeze.

The building has four floors. The ground floor has regular offices, and the second floor has offices for middle-level leaders. Chen Yang's office is on the second floor.

The two walked through the hall and went up the stairs together. The stairs were made of teak, and the handrails were polished to a smooth, jade-like finish. At the corner was a long, narrow stained-glass window with an abstract iris pattern.

This also proves that the previous owner must have been British.

"Mr. Chen, my office is here. Come over for tea sometime." Kobayashi Shuzo belongs to the General Affairs Department, which is the first office on the right-hand side of the second floor.

"Okay, Kobayashi-kun, I'll go find my office too." Chen Yang replied politely, bowed slightly to Kobayashi Shuzo, and walked inside.

Soon, he saw the office with the words "Third Section of the Southern Transportation Department" hanging on it.

Pushing open the office door, a familiar figure appeared inside.

Wearing a gray work uniform, sporting permed curly hair, with a slender figure and delicate features, she was none other than Li Ningyu, the former secretary of the Economic Department.

“Sir,” Li Ningyu turned around when she heard the voice and immediately saluted when she saw Chen Yang at the office door.

Seeing the surprised look in Chen Yang's eyes, Li Ningyu quickly explained, "Consul Iwai was afraid that you were unfamiliar with the situation since you had just arrived, so he sent me to assist you."

Chen Yang nodded slowly: "I see. Then I'll have to trouble Secretary Li."

Li Ningyu repeatedly said he dared not, then bowed slightly and said, "Sir, the cleaning here has been completed. Please sit for a while, and I will go and get the documents for you."

Chen Yang nodded, and Li Ningyu bowed and withdrew.

As the figure disappeared, Chen Yang's expression gradually became serious. Now, he was certain that Iwai Hiroichi was behind Li Ningyu.

Based on Li Ningyu's performance over the past few months, Chen Yang was even certain that Li Ningyu's job was definitely not as simple as being a secretary.

This person should be one of the special agents trained by the Iwai organization.

But why did Hiroichi Iwai send an agent to follow him? Did he suspect his identity?

It didn't seem like it; Chen Yang was more inclined to believe that Li Ningyu was planted by his side as a recorder.

The purpose is still to record one's usual work performance.

Chen Yang thought to himself, "Iwai Hiroichi probably isn't that interested in me."

The only person in all of Japan who was interested in him was his teacher, Tomoo Fujiwara. Could it be that all of this was his arrangement?

Why would he plant a secret agent next to him to record his performance?
