Chapter 88 "Go, go! Go!!"

A group of five people walked through the misty mountains.

There are many buildings around, but they are all in a dilapidated state, and many of them are ruins.

These things are common in the secret realm. From a distance, they look like ancient houses with flying eaves and brackets, but upon closer inspection, they are all stacked products, like erroneously generated models randomly placed together, like monsters pieced together from various animal limbs, exuding a dizzying sense of distortion.

It was said to be five people, but to be precise, three people were walking. One person was injured and was being carried, and another child was being held.

They had been trapped in this strange place for who knows how long. None of them had watches, and there was no sunrise or sunset here. Although it seemed like they didn't need to sleep here, enduring this for so long was pushing them to the brink of mental collapse.

"Brother Xu? Brother Xu, don't sleep!"

Seeing that the injured person on Sun Qi's back seemed to be in bad shape, He Xiaoyu quickly patted the person's shoulder.

After observing their surroundings, the group found a dilapidated hut that they could barely stand in, and they went inside.

The room was empty, not even a speck of dust could be seen. Yang Kun put down the child he was holding and went to the door to stand guard.

The soldier called Brother Xu struggled to open his eyes. The figures in front of him were already starting to blur. He grinned and asked, "Did we shake off that guy behind us?"

"It won't be available for the time being."

"You can't get rid of me so easily. Leave me here and go on your way."

"no!"

He Xiaoyu immediately retorted, "How could we leave you here alone? You're here because..."

We're the ones who got hurt.

She didn't say it aloud, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Xu Changwen smiled and shook his head, feeling as if he was somewhat out of his mind.

"That guy is playing us. We need to make him feel the pain so he won't dare to keep chasing us." Xu Changwen forced himself to sit up a little higher. He had a deep wound on his leg that exposed the bone, and the intense pain made him more alert.

"Xiao Sun, give me the grenade."

Sun Qi paused for a moment, then unbuckled his belt.

"What are you going to do?"

He Xiaoyu grabbed Xu Changwen's hand.

Xu Changwen paused for a moment, not answering the question, but instead used his other hand to untie the bandage on his leg.

It was a piece of white cloth that had been cut from He Xiaoyu's skirt with a knife.

"Look, there's not much blood."

He Xiaoyu was stunned. Just as Xu Changwen had said, there were only some red spots on that strip of cloth.

"I've bled to death long ago. If it weren't for this godforsaken place, I'd probably be dead by now."

Xu Changwen calmly said to He Xiaoyu, "So don't be sad for me. Keep me here so you can live a better life."

"I……"

He Xiaoyu looked somewhat bewildered. She turned to look at Sun Qi, as if hoping he would say something, but Sun Qi simply lowered his head and looked at the belt with several grenades hanging from it.

"Moreover, you also need to protect him."

Xu Changwen smiled and waved to the bewildered child standing in the room. The child was only four or five years old and still somewhat unaware of what was happening. "Child, if you call me Uncle Xu, then I'm your uncle. Here, I'll give you this."

He laboriously draped the strip of cloth around the child's neck and awkwardly tied a knot.

"You haven't started elementary school yet, have you? Now you have a red scarf, a real red scarf."

The little boy looked at the man's pale face and suddenly burst into tears.

"Why are you crying? Wearing the red scarf makes you a man, you're not allowed to cry."

"I don't have a mom and dad anymore, I don't want to lose an uncle too..."

The childish voice sent a chill down the spines of everyone present. He Xiaoyu turned her face away, unable to bear to look, but Yang Kun at the door suddenly shouted in fear, "It's here!"

Everyone felt a chill in their hearts. Even the crying child dared not utter a sound, only tears streaming down their face.

Xu Changwen wiped away the tears on his face and said in a deep voice to the others, "Hurry up and leave. If you don't leave, you'll all die here. Do you want this child to die here too?"

"Xiao Sun, give me the grenade!"

Sun Qi seemed startled and shuddered. He instinctively handed over the weapon belt covered with grenades, which Xu Changwen took in one swift motion.

In the distant mist, the figure of a giant beast had already appeared. It was pig-like in shape but had six hooves, two sharp bull horns on its head, and was more than four meters long. When it stood up, its huge body was taller than a person.

Most of the strange creatures in the secret realm are like this, seemingly cobbled together from various animals in a strange way. At this moment, it is leisurely strolling towards this side, seemingly in no hurry at all, with bright red blood dripping from its sharp horns.

Yang Kun was terrified and began to retreat step by step. It was this monster that had been chasing them, or rather, driving them like sheep. If any of them fell behind, they would be cruelly killed by this monster.

In the end, only these people remained in their group.

The wound on Xu Changwen's leg was caused by its horn. Seeing that someone was carrying him away, the monster was no longer in a hurry to kill Xu Changwen.

"No time left. This is where I will be buried. See you all in the next life!"

Sun Qi had already picked up the child from the ground and grabbed He Xiaoyu's hand. When the two heard this, they felt a pang of pain in their hearts and took a deep look at Xu Changwen, who was sitting on the spot, as if they wanted to imprint his appearance in their minds.

"Go, go! Go!!"

Urged on by Xu Changwen's almost shouting, the two ran out of the ruins. Yang Kun had already walked a distance, but not far. The group rushed down the mountain path, their uncontrollable emotions making their hands and feet almost numb. They didn't know how long they had been running, it seemed like they hadn't gone far, and it seemed like they had lost half their lives.

The monster was left behind, and they didn't dare to look back, afraid of seeing the scene they dreaded most.

However, soon, Yang Kun, who was walking at the front, suddenly slowed down. Sun Qi and He Xiaoyu caught up with him in a daze and looked ahead in the same direction.

The next moment, a huge surprise appeared in their hearts as two tanks with red flags appeared in the distance.

Yang Kun was the first to shout in that direction. The two cars in the distance had already spotted them and sped up, arriving in front of them in just a moment.

Several soldiers on the vehicle smiled at them.

"Comrades, you are safe!"

"Quick, there's someone else over there! There's a soldier behind him, he..."

"Boom!"

He Xiaoyu's words were interrupted by an explosion that came from afar, and she turned around in a daze.

The soldiers who arrived by car seemed to have guessed what had happened. They didn't say much, but simply walked silently in that direction.
