Chapter 240: The Grand Finale (Part Two)

Yu Sijia took a small tin box out of her skirt pocket and showed it to Yu Kuiqing. "Look." She opened it and showed it to Yu Kuiqing; there were a few hard candies inside.

"What's this?"

Yusjia said proudly, "This is a thirst-quenching candy that Aunt Feng prepared for me! It contains lemon and orange juice and other things. She made it herself. If you eat one and hold it on the back of your tongue, you won't feel like throwing up. Do you want one? Apart from being a little sour, it's actually quite delicious."

Yu Sijia didn't find it too sour; she fed Meng Weiyuan one that day. Meng Weiyuan didn't care what she brought him, he just opened his mouth. As a result, after eating the saliva-stimulating candy that Aunt Feng made for him that day, Meng Weiyuan almost vomited it up.

If Yuska hadn't seriously told him it was delicious, he would have almost wondered if he had accidentally offended Yuska at some point and was now being deliberately pranked by her.

Meng Weiyuan was caught off guard by You Sijia's unexpected feeding, but You Kuiqing was not so foolish as to "steal" food from a pregnant woman.

“Not interested,” You Kuiqing said.

Chairman You and his group arrived in Beijing a little early, but she was a step late because she still had some work to do and hadn't had a chance to really get a good look at You Sijia.

Now that they were sitting together eating, You Kuiqing glanced at You Sijia. Tonight, You Sijia was wearing a bright red velvet dress with layers of organza sleeves. The house was very warm, so she didn't feel cold dressed like that.

Through the organza sleeves, one could vaguely see Yustia's fair arms.

You Kuiqing couldn't resist and reached out to pinch You Sijia's arm.

"What are you doing!" Yuska exclaimed in surprise.

Yu Kuiqing: "Look at you, have you gained weight? Aren't you pregnant? How come you're still so thin?"

Moreover, even looking at her like this, it was hard for her to tell that You Sijia was pregnant. Her limbs were slender, and she looked no different from before. Because of this, You Kuiqing couldn't help but wonder if Meng Weiyuan hadn't taken good care of You Sijia. After all, many pregnant women looked plump and healthy, but her young lady was still incredibly slender.

Upon hearing this, You Sijia couldn't help but feel happy and kept asking You Kuiqing to confirm, "Really? Is she very thin?"

Yu Kuiqing had no idea what she was so happy about. She rolled her eyes at Yu Sijia without any politeness and said, "Do you think this is a good thing? Why are you so happy? Eat more and gain some weight. You'll suffer when you give birth."

Yu Sijia rested her head on her shoulder, looking like a cute little kitten, so soft and cuddly that Yu Kuiqing wanted to push her away but was also reluctant.

"I threw up so badly before, and I couldn't eat anything!" Yusjia said coquettishly.

Yu Kui-ching: "And now?"

"A little better."

"Didn't your brother-in-law do anything?" You Kuiqing frowned. "How exactly did he take care of you?"

Yusjia: "It has nothing to do with him. He wanted me to eat more, but I really couldn't eat much. But it's okay, I feel much better now."

As You Kuiqing heard You Sijia's voice, she wondered if this counted as "reporting good news but not bad news" to her family.

She squeezed Yusjia's hand tightly. "You didn't mention this when we video chatted before."

"What's there to tell you? If I can't eat, are you going to eat for me?" Yusjia said with a smile.

Yu Kuiqing: "..."

Just then, Meng Weiyuan walked over.

Because of her pregnancy, You Sijia didn't need to exchange pleasantries with her family and could simply stay seated. However, Meng Weiyuan was different. With so many elders visiting, as the host, especially on New Year's Eve, he naturally had to entertain all the guests and offer toasts to everyone.

However, considering that Yusijia was pregnant and couldn't stand the smell of alcohol on him, Meng Weiyuan replaced all the wine in his glass with water tonight.

“Come on, I’ll take you out.” Meng Weiyuan’s hand, adorned with his wedding ring, casually rested on the back of You Sijia’s chair. You Sijia: “Where to?”

Meng Weiyuan smiled and said, "Want to watch the fireworks?"

Yusjia raised an eyebrow; she knew perfectly well that fireworks and firecrackers couldn't be set off casually in the city center of Beijing.

But seeing Meng Weiyuan's large hand already outstretched in front of her, You Sijia thought for a moment and then placed her own hand on top of it.

She hadn't forgotten her second son beside her. "Second son, want to come? Let's go together."

Although You Kuiqing had some dissatisfaction with Meng Weiyuan, why would she want to be a third wheel at this time?

Upon hearing this, You Kuiqing waved her hand, "No, no, the winters in Beijing are too cold. I don't want to go out and freeze."

For someone from the southern part of the city, the sub-zero temperatures in Beijing on New Year's Eve were simply unbearable.

After telling the people at the main table, Meng Weiyuan quietly left the dining room with You Sijia.

Before leaving the house, Meng Weiyuan draped Yu Sijia's coat over her shoulders and put a scarf, gloves, earmuffs, and other protective gear on her, making her "fully armed."

Yuska was overjoyed. "The house is only so big. Why don't you bring a blanket too? You can wrap me up in it, okay?"

Meng Weiyuan's slender fingers tucked the twice-wrapped scarf into Yusjia's neck, ensuring that not a single wisp of wind would get in.

Hearing Yusijia's words, Meng Weiyuan smiled and reached out to tap her forehead. "It's not that it's not possible, it's just that I'm afraid you'll think it's ugly."

Yuska: "!"

After helping You Sijia get ready, Meng Weiyuan said, "Alright, go out."

Even if Yusijia wasn't pregnant, Meng Weiyuan wouldn't want her to catch a cold in the winter.

Meng Weiyuan did not take You Sijia too far, but went to You Sijia's study behind the restaurant.

This small courtyard has floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides on the second floor.

During the Lunar New Year, the auntie cleaned the glass inside and out, making it exceptionally clear.

Yuska was a little puzzled, "Fireworks here?"

When Meng Weiyuan pressed her down onto the beanbag chair, she really couldn't see where the fireworks were.

Meng Weiyuan glanced down at his watch. "Wait a minute."

"Shouldn't this be the Spring Festival Gala?" Yusijia asked.

Both Meng Weiyuan and she received invitations to the Spring Festival Gala, but Meng Weiyuan politely declined them.

They weren't very full after eating at the Spring Festival Gala, and the people at the table weren't necessarily acquaintances. Even if they were, there would still be the need for small talk. Meng Weiyuan couldn't bear to have to deal with people from both the political and business worlds during the holidays, so he preferred to stay home with You Sijia and enjoy some peace and quiet.

After all, at home, Yustya, who is now pregnant, is the eldest.

Meng Weiyuan knew what You Sijia meant by that. She guessed that since it was the Spring Festival Gala, and Beijing was the main broadcasting station, and it was being broadcast live, it was impossible to make a big show of it.
