Chapter 4 The Phenomenon

Chapter 4 The Phenomenon
"Who is it?" Sayaka stood up angrily.

"I know, you guys must have teamed up to mess with me. Is it fun to bully a country bumpkin from Aomori? It's just a pre-sent text message and a recorder. I've seen Master Tiangong's magic analysis program!"

After venting her anger, Sayaka, who had burst into the Tsugaru dialect unique to the Aomori region, suddenly froze, only then realizing that no one was looking at her.

"It's...it's a prank, isn't it?"

"Shh." Aizen Yurika raised her index finger to signal Sayaka to be quiet.

Realizing that it was pointless to continue observing the taboo, Yuriko immediately removed her hand from the coin.

He carefully surveyed his surroundings. Although the incident seemed like a supernatural event, the possibility of human intervention could not be ruled out. The most suspicious person present was Nogizaka Ruka, who was most familiar with the classroom and had ample time to arrange everything.

But to everyone's surprise, Yuriko only glanced at him and then stopped doubting him, as if a single glance was enough to see through people's hearts.

"Does anyone know where that sound came from?"

Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment. Suddenly, Yu Jian stepped forward, took Bai He Xiang's hand, and pulled her away from the desk. He then whispered:

"...right beside you."

Upon hearing this, Nogizaka and Sayaka both felt a chill run down their spines and immediately moved away from the desk where the ceremony was being held.

click!
A strange noise suddenly came from the pile of clutter in the corner. Sayaka, who was on edge, almost screamed. At the last moment, she bit her hand hard to force herself to be quiet, but she still made a little noise.

Whoosh!
Something slicing through the air at incredible speed was aimed directly at Sayaka's throat.

At the critical moment, Yu Jian suddenly stepped forward, and something slid out of his sleeve and he grabbed it. He then unleashed a reverse kasaya slash from below!

Ding!
The dark shadow landed with a crisp sound; it was a rusty iron nail broken in two.

In his hand, Yu Jian held a stainless steel ruler that was only a few dozen centimeters long. This stationery item, which should have been lying in a pencil case, was used as a weapon by him, which was astonishing and hard to believe.

Considering the local gun-and-sword techniques, this is the best alternative that Yujian could find.

As for why he carries a ruler with him, it's because the dream game is too realistic, and playing too much of it can even cause aftereffects, or rather, PTSD.

But in return, he gained an extremely skilled mastery of ancient swordsmanship.

Facing the surprised gazes of the group, Mitsurugi didn't offer any explanation. Sayaka, who had almost become a victim, only then felt a lingering fear.

"That's too much..." Without even saying thank you, the delinquent girl collapsed to the ground. The fear of brushing with death almost broke her down. Tears and cold sweat washed away her eyeliner, making her look more frightening than a ghost.

“It’s not Nogizaka-san.” Aizen Yurika shook her head.

"That thing flew directly out of the old seat."

Her meaning was crystal clear: the rusty nails were not launched using a pre-prepared mechanism, but were directly driven by some unseen force.

However, Yujian was a little curious about how Baihexiang managed to see everything happening in the dimly lit environment with only a few candles for illumination.
But now is not the time to delve into such matters.

"Leave here." Yu Jian made a decisive move and was about to open the door.

Suddenly, an invisible wave swept across the entire classroom, and a thin frost that could be seen with the naked eye quickly spread in all directions. A large number of miscellaneous items trembled violently, and then, as if picked up by an invisible hand, they floated into the air and began to spin in place.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Hehehehehe!
A large amount of debris transformed into arrows, spinning and flying towards the crowd, interspersed with ear-piercing laughter that sounded like fingernails rubbing against glass.

The whooshing sound of objects cutting through the air filled his ears, but Yujian's eyes were as sharp as a hawk's, capturing every trajectory.

The attacks came like rain, and his first reaction was to lie down, but he immediately rejected that decision.

There was just too much debris. Even if he lay down to avoid the first wave, there would be a second and a third. And lying on the ground made it difficult to continue avoiding the pursuit, so he chose...

With a swift kick, the desk tumbled through the air, sending debris crashing against the surface with a series of muffled thuds.

Before the desk could hit the ground, Yu Jian reached out and grabbed the leg of the desk. His slender figure unleashed a powerful force that did not match his appearance. He swung the entire desk up and, like swinging a baseball bat, sent all the debris flying!
In terms of sheer absurdity, this scene is no less bizarre than the magical scene of the objects floating in mid-air just now.

Sayaka and Nogizaka were both dumbfounded, feeling inexplicably bewildered. At first, they only noticed that the other person was extremely tall, but they never expected that her strength would be so astonishing. You couldn't tell from her appearance at all. Was she the type who looked slim when dressed?

On the other side, Lily quickly took two steps along the wall, dodging the attack while also forcefully pulling open the classroom door.

"Everyone, this way!"

The group reacted quickly and filed out through the door.

Mitsurugi was the last to leave the classroom, and as he did so, he threw his desk inwards. Immediately afterward, Yurika slammed the door shut, and Sayaka stumbled over with a broom. Mitsurugi forcefully shoved the broom into the doorknob, jamming the door shut completely.

Only then did a sharp scream erupt in the classroom, followed by the sound of doors being slammed shut.

"Run!" Without another word, the four of them immediately ran towards the first floor of the old school building.

"That...that thing is different from the Gukkuri-san I've heard about." Nogizaka Ruka emphasized this point even as she panted down the stairs.

“If the ritual was correct, then the problem lies with the materials,” Aizen immediately offered another hypothesis.

"No way... wait, I... I've never met the seller in person. The entire transaction was completed online and via Black Cat Delivery Service." Nogizaka looked dazed, only then belatedly realizing that something was wrong.

He had never considered the possibility that there might be bad people among his enthusiasts. "Very suspicious, no, extremely suspicious! Young master, you really lack social experience," Sayaka couldn't help but sarcastically remark, then looked down at her pink phone covered in decorations.

"No signal, I can't make an emergency call."

“Mine is the same, I can’t even make satellite calls.” Nogizaka pulled out an inconspicuous, heavy black candybar phone with a platinum Saturn logo with star rings on the back.

Yu Jian did not participate in the discussion; at this moment, his heart was pounding like a drum.

It wasn't fear, but anticipation—unparalleled anticipation!

It's not just a dream of Shura; supernatural forces truly exist in this world!
When fantasy no longer resides in comics, and when dreams are no longer illusions, many things will undergo fundamental changes.

Even if it is just rambling that sounds like a delusional teenager's ramblings, it can still be called a pursuit of the Way!
I ask you, is there any place here where one can fly or escape to the heavens? Is it possible to undergo tribulations and become an immortal?
The swordsman can shatter all laws with a single strike!

The prerequisite is to survive this upheaval.

Yu Jian suddenly frowned, recalling the feeling of deflecting the attack just now. Was the force... strong?
"A poltergeist, it must be a poltergeist." Nogizaka's tone was firm, but also excited, with a feeling of both fear and surprise.

"What is that?" Sayaka asked, voicing the question everyone wanted to ask.

Despite being out of breath from running, Nogizaka managed to sporadically recount the relevant information.

The term "poltergeist" refers to the study and summarization of common paranormal phenomena by paranormal researchers, typically referring to amateur paranormal enthusiasts. Because these phenomena are often associated with spirits or ghosts, they are called poltergeist phenomena. The word originates from the German word "poltergeist," meaning "noisy ghost."

Specifically, this manifests as objects moving without reason, making strange noises, sudden temperature changes, and electrical interference, etc.

"So, that was a ghost just now?" Lily asked thoughtfully.

"Yes." Nogizaka nodded vigorously, his eyes filled with complex emotions.

He had always wanted to have a good chat with someone about these kinds of topics, but unexpectedly, he got his wish while being chased by a ghost.

“We are in great danger right now,” Yu Jian suddenly said.

"Why? That guy is already... Ah!" Nogizaka realized his mistake halfway through his sentence.

“Ghosts won’t be blocked by doors,” Lily added.
"Hey, what floor are we on now? I feel like I've been running for ages," Sayaka couldn't help but ask. It was really impressive that she could keep up with everyone while wearing platform shoes.

"Stop." Yu Jian suddenly called out to everyone.

He had been silently counting in his mind, and he should have arrived at the first floor of the old school building by now, but the door that led to the outside world had vanished.

Instead, there was an empty corridor.

"Is this the first floor or the second floor?" Nogizaka asked in a low voice.

"Layout." Yu Jian succinctly pointed out the key point.

“Miken is right. Without the main gate, the layout of the two floors is exactly the same.” Aizen also noticed that something was wrong.

“The address…” Sayaka, panting heavily, finally managed to lift her hand and point upwards.

"The first number of the classroom door number is the same as the floor number."

"203, we're still on the second floor."

"so……"

Before he could finish speaking, a crisp 'crack' sound suddenly came from the corridor.

Everyone looked up and saw that the entire row of windows had cracked open, with a thin mist seeping out and visible frost spreading rapidly along the cracks, making everything hazy and blurry.

Immediately afterwards, a bright red handprint appeared on the glass window, followed by a second and a third, with a series of slapping sounds. The glass window shook violently, and the handprints were connected to each other, as if there was a cherry blossom tree in full bloom outside, casting the shadow of its bright red flowers onto the window.

"Ah!" Sayaka screamed and collapsed to the ground.

"Yes! There's something outside!"

Nogizaka's voice was so high-pitched it sounded like he was choking, but instead of turning and running away immediately, he grabbed Sayaka and tried to help her up. However, being short, Nogizaka wasn't very strong, and even with his face turning red from holding his breath, he couldn't lift her up.

"Let's go." Mitsurugi grabbed Sayaka's other hand and easily pulled her up. When he turned to look at Yurika, he found that she had just pushed up her glasses and was very calm.

The group hurried back to the stairwell, the sounds behind them like whips urging them to speed up even more.

They ran down countless floors until there was no more sound behind them before they re-entered the corridor.

Everyone immediately looked at the doorplate, which clearly read—

301...

They are back.

Go back to the third floor.
