Reborn Cat Sheriff
Chapter 9 Cats are amazing creatures
Chapter 9 Cats are magical creatures
For the next two days, Lin Ge continued to hang out between the police station and Youcheng No. 1 Primary School, without going anywhere else.
Lin Ge hadn't forgotten what that skinny guy, Skinny Monkey, had said. Until Skinny Monkey and the burly man's threats kept Lin Ge on his toes until Skinny Monkey was caught.
For some reason, although he had already relayed all the information he knew to Nie Guoqiang via text message, there seemed to be no major activity at the police station. Neither arrests nor criminal investigations appeared to be targeting this group.
Of course, Lingo didn't care.
After he finished what he was supposed to do, the matter of those two drug dealers was no longer his concern.
After playing with the old-fashioned mobile phone for two days, he completely lost interest. When the battery died, he was too lazy to find a way to charge it. Finally, Lin Ge couldn't resist and decided to go on an adventure to a slightly unfamiliar place.
Of course, he did not forget the threat from drug dealers, and this time he still chose the area under the jurisdiction of Zhanghe Police Station.
Unlike the school area on the other side, this area is mostly old residential neighborhoods. More than 30 years ago, when the petrochemical company was thriving, its employees were among the first in the country to live in collectively funded housing. Everyone lived together, working and living side by side, making it one of the most bustling and prosperous areas in Zhangzhou. Even though times have changed and the houses have become old, the number of people living here has not decreased at all.
In addition to a large number of retired elderly people, there are also some young people who choose to rent here because of the cheap rent, which keeps this residential area full of life and vitality.
After Lin Ge arrived, he noticed a significant increase in the number of stray cats. The clever cats knew which people posed no threat to them, which people would feed them, and which hiding places would be safe from harm.
There are even elderly people here who place cat bowls in designated spots and pour a portion of their food into them before it's served. Occasionally, younger women and children will proactively buy cat food to ensure the cats are well-fed.
So, under these conditions similar to free-range living, the lives of the stray cats are not much different from those of pet cats, and they all live very leisurely lives.
Lin Ge had only walked halfway through two six-story buildings when he saw five or six cats of various appearances. Some were sunbathing on the stone railings, while others were playing and running around in the grass or under cars. There was even a fat orange cat lazily curled up on the hood of a red Mercedes-Benz. This car didn't look cheap, and he wondered how the owner could bear to have so many cat scratches, perhaps dozens, that had pierced the paint.
When they saw Ringo, these cats didn't show the wariness or hostility that real wild cats would. Most of them ignored Ringo, and one tabby even boldly moved closer to him.
"Go away!"
Ringo glared at it with a threatening look; he had no intention of playing with or even grooming the other cats.
"Meow!"
The little tabby wasn't afraid at all. After letting out a soft yelp, it wagged its tail and shook its head as it continued walking towards Lingo.
"..."
If you can't beat them, you can avoid them. With a leap, Lin Ge landed on the roof of the SUV next to him, his light movement attracting the attention of all the cats nearby.
The little ones sprang into action, and soon they all crowded around the SUV, eager to try it out.
'Boom! '
A clumsy cat failed to jump, crashed headfirst into the car window, and then slid down in a sorry state.
It looked fine, but there were two clear scratches on the white SUV and two clear cat paw prints on the windshield.
"Meow!"
The other cats also got excited; some ran around the car, some rolled on the ground, and some started grooming each other, making the neighborhood even more lively.
The noise even attracted the attention of many elderly people who were cooling off, but everyone just looked at them with goodwill and smiled, and no one had any intention of going forward to drive them away.
"Get lost! You stinky cat, stay away from my car!"
A window on the third floor next door opened, and a shirtless young man poked his head out, shouting angrily and tearfully.
"..."
So it turns out no one really cares!
Thinking this, Lin Ge quickly jumped out of the car. Before the cats could react, he sped up and ran towards the sports equipment plaza on the other side.
Except for the little tabby cat, the other cats didn't seem to care.
The little tabby stumbled and ran toward Lin Ge, meowing all the way, its voice both childish and anxious.
"Why are you chasing me so closely? I'm not your father!"
Lin Ge slowed down, annoyed. He couldn't bear to watch the silly cat stumble and bump its head on the ground every few steps. The little tabby cat, seeing Lin Ge stop, was overjoyed and ran over, meowing happily.
Excitedly, it approached Ringo, rolled over, and began to pluck at the fur on Ringo's side with its paws. The little guy's paws were quite sharp; in just a few strokes, it had pulled out dozens of long, whitish-gray hairs. The fur billowed in the wind, and the little tabby quickly chased after it.
"I'm really not your father!"
Lin Ge squatted there helplessly, not moving. He didn't know why he had softened his heart because of the kitten's meow.
"Meow?"
When the little tabby heard Lin Ge's voice, it turned around, glanced at him, and slowly walked over. It lay down in front of Lin Ge, exposing its belly, and then curled up its limbs, making soft, wet sounds.
"Meow!"
"What the hell!"
Lin Ge was having a terrible headache. How did he end up getting entangled with such a little guy?
"Meow!"
Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice rang out from the sports equipment area, one after another. Then, a large cat with two kittens poked its head out from the flower bed and stared at Lin Ge and the little devil beneath him, their six eyes unblinking.
The big cat has a tortoiseshell color that looks like it's been burned, a color typically found only in female cats.
The two kittens, one of which is tortoiseshell like its mother, and the other is tabby like the one at Lingo's feet, except for its two snow-white front paws.
Clearly, it was Little Tiger's mother and siblings who had come looking for him.
"Kid, your mom's calling you home for dinner!"
Lingo nudged the little tabby's rear end, signaling it to get lost.
"Meow?"
The sound came from the little hawksbill turtle, which wagged its tail and came closer, sniffing cautiously at Lingo.
Following closely behind, the little white-pawed tiger also slowly walked over. Before it even got close, it turned around and lay down, rolling down to Lin Ge's eyelids.
In an instant, Lingo was surrounded by three kittens.
These three little guys looked to be less than two months old. They were tiny and soft, so much so that Lin Ge didn't dare to use force to drive them away. He could only stand stiffly like a statue and let them do whatever they wanted.
But then, something even worse happened.
The clumsy kitten must have a clumsy mother too. The tortoiseshell cat that was originally staying in the flower bed saw that the situation here was stable, and it actually swaggered over.
It meowed elegantly at Ringo, then tugged at Ringo's tail with its tail, the tip of its tail rubbing against Ringo's body.
Holy crap! Was I being sexually harassed by a female cat?
Instantly, Lin Ge's hair stood on end, and he was so frightened that it flew up.
The three kittens lost their balance and fell to the ground, but Lin Ge didn't care about anything else. He took off running, leaving only the tortoiseshell mother cat with a puzzled look in her eyes, tilting her head, not understanding why Lin Ge had chosen to refuse.
"cat!"
The three kittens meowed pitifully, but this time Lin Ge dared not linger.
He ran out of the residential area like a whirlwind, hurriedly returned to his familiar territory, scrambled up a tree, listened to the familiar mocking calls of magpies, and lay panting heavily on the banyan tree.
Holy crap, this is terrifying!
He was actually courted by a cat! At one point, he even thought the tortoiseshell cat's graceful gait was quite elegant.
Damn it!
Damn it!
How could this possibly happen, you bastard!
Lin Ge decided that from today onwards, he would never go to that neighborhood again! That place was more like a den of wolves to him than those two drug dealers. Speaking of which, he was just an ordinary mixed-breed silver shaded cat; how did a female cat take a liking to him at first sight?
unacceptable!
