Reborn Cat Sheriff

Chapter 50 Thief

Chapter 50 Thief
"Is that how it's resolved?"

The mounted police officer could hardly believe it.

"Yeah, I didn't expect that old lady to be so afraid of death. I thought she was fearless. Hey... Mimi, stop it, this is someone else's car..."

Qian Wei echoed this sentiment and went to the electric scooter to continue catching Lin Ge.

He thought Lin Ge was just fooling around, but Lin Ge turned around to avoid his hands that were about to hug him, and then nimbly jumped onto the delivery scooter, slapping the box behind him hard.

Qian Wei was about to criticize Lin Ge, but when he saw what was in the box, he suddenly froze and his expression became serious.

Inside the box was a black plastic bag, stuffed full and bulging out in a diamond shape. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to contain seven or eight cell phones, piled up haphazardly without any protection, along with a wallet and an electronic bracelet.

Qian Wei raised an eyebrow and turned to look at the young deliveryman.

The delivery guy, who had initially looked indignant and relieved, was now trembling in the knees. Facing Qian Wei's gaze, he forced a smile that looked more like a grimace.

Upon seeing this, Qian Wei knew exactly what was going on.

Looking at the cat perched on the electric scooter with surprise, Qian Wei gained a deeper understanding of the cat's abilities and had more ideas in his mind.

But on the surface, he patted the trunk of the electric scooter and smiled as he said to the deliveryman, "Can you tell me where all this stuff came from? Didn't you just hand over the food in your scooter to your colleague? Don't tell me you're delivering this stuff too?"

"Yes, it is!"

The delivery guy shuddered a couple of times and said with a wry smile, "This is also an order I accepted, but because I'm not in a rush, I plan to deliver it later."

"Is it because there's no rush, or because they don't want people to know?"

When facing the suspect, Qian Wei's attitude changed completely. He slowly walked up to the deliveryman, tapped his shoulder firmly with his finger, and said, "These things aren't from somewhere, are they? Tell me, where are you delivering them to?"

"I……"

The delivery guy was trembling and didn't dare to tell anyone.

"what?"

The mounted police officer, who had been writing something in his notebook, came over curiously when he saw the commotion. Upon seeing the contents of the box, he immediately realized, "Oh? Stolen goods, huh? Delivering takeout and helping to move stolen goods? So you're not just a takeout delivery guy, you're a thief too!"

"I'm not!"

The delivery driver quickly retorted, shouting, "I'm not a thief! I'm just taking orders and delivering them normally! I have no say in what people ask me to deliver; I just deliver what they specify to their destination and earn a little money for my hard work!"

"Normal delivery? Helping to transfer stolen goods is also normal?"

Qian Wei sneered and grabbed the delivery guy by the collar without any politeness: "You know that stealing is a crime, but don't you know that transferring stolen goods is also illegal? Or can you swear to me that you don't know where these things came from?"

"I...I just don't know!"

The delivery driver was almost lifted up, but he still shook his head without hesitation.

"Hey! Old Qian, Old Qian, calm down, calm down!"

The mounted police officer quickly grabbed Qian Wei's arm and forcefully pried his hands off: "Why are you still so reckless? I thought that after you were transferred to the police station, you would be a little more obedient."

"Ha! Honest? Forget it, I'm lucky today, I actually got the chance to break up a den of thieves! These cell phones and other odds and ends can't be stolen from just one or two people. Well, there's even someone in charge of transporting the stolen goods."

Qian Wei sneered and released his grip, saying to the deliveryman, "Hand over your phone. This is your only warning! If I find out you're secretly alerting those guys, you're dead today, understand?"

"I don't know anything! I'm just a food delivery driver."

The delivery guy remained defiant, but faced with two police officers, he obediently handed over his phone. Seeing Qian Wei still staring at him, he smirked and pulled another phone out of his pocket.

"I knew you weren't honest!"

Qian Wei snatched both phones and activated the screens by pointing them at the delivery driver's face. One phone screen showed a short video of someone dancing, while the other displayed a standard order-grabbing page for the delivery driver, with order options constantly popping up.

"Which order does this belong to? Show it to me!"

Qian Wei handed his phone to the delivery driver, then took out his own phone to send a message in the work group. He knew very well that these gangs of thieves needed to be dealt with quickly; if he alerted them, they would escape in an instant.

The fact that they didn't take the stolen goods back to their hideout themselves, but instead handed them over to the deliverymen without leaving any evidence on themselves, shows that these people have a strong sense of vigilance and a good understanding of the law.

Police need evidence to arrest someone; if they catch a thief without recovering the stolen goods, things will get complicated.

'Didi didi...'

A large number of messages quickly popped up in the group.

Nie Guoqiang questioned Qian Wei about his violation of duty regulations and who authorized him to handle the case independently. Zhang Yong, on the other hand, marveled at Qian Wei's abilities, noting that he had uncovered another major criminal gang in just a few days. Other miscellaneous news also kept pouring in. Qian Wei was in a good mood and had already offered an explanation for Nie Guoqiang's call.

"Am I not Mimi's caretaker? If Mimi wants to go out, of course I have to go with her, right? Chief Nie, this isn't something I intentionally did to break the rules. Besides, it was Mimi who discovered these stolen goods; she's truly an amazing police cat."

"..."

Nie Guoqiang was speechless on the other end. Did Qian Wei really find a magic weapon?

He quickly calmed down and said in a serious tone, "Are you sure it's stolen goods? Not from a secondhand phone seller or a middleman? I'll assign you men right now, but don't make a big fuss and end up making a fool of yourself."

"There were also wallets and electronic bracelets below. I took a picture and sent it to the group chat. This food delivery guy probably already knows what's going on."

Qian Wei completely ignored Nie Guoqiang's reminder, took the delivery guy's phone, took a picture of the display and sent it to the group: "I've sent the delivery address for these stolen goods to the group. Lao Nie, send someone over there, don't let them get away."

"It really is an urban village. Which petty thief has wandered over here this time?"

Nie Guoqiang immediately guessed the other party's identity. After a helpless sigh, he said a few more words to Qian Wei and then hung up the phone.

Qian Wei on this side was also speechless.

He even planned to personally participate in the arrest of the gang of thieves, but unexpectedly, Nie Guoqiang ordered him to send Lin Ge and the deliveryman back to the police station first before discussing anything else.

"Why don't you go back by yourself, Mimi?"

Qian Wei looked at Lin Ge and, without hesitation, discarded him after he had served his purpose.

Lin Ge coldly brandished his claws.

"Hehe... Just kidding, there's this guy too!"

Qian Wei chuckled dryly and slapped the delivery guy hard on the shoulder. The dull thud showed he hadn't held back at all; the delivery guy crouched down in pain, grimacing but daring not to retaliate.

"Old Yang, can I have a ride?"

Qian Wei then set his sights on the mounted police he was familiar with.

"I give up!"

The mounted policeman shook his head, turned around, and got on his motorcycle. After turning around and riding back, he said helplessly, "I'm a traffic cop helping you apprehend a suspect, and you're making me break the rules! If someone reports me, you'll have to treat me to a good drink."

"Let's talk about it when we have time!"

Qian Wei didn't hesitate to betray his accomplice after using the food delivery guy's electric scooter. He then looked at Lin Ge and said, "Mimi, why don't you just sit in the back box? This scooter is a bit small, and it doesn't seem like there's anywhere for a cat to sit."

"I'll sit on your head!"

Lin Ge glared at Qian Wei, then glanced at the delivery guy sitting obediently on the police motorcycle, jumped off the electric bike, and turned to walk towards the pedestrian street.

Instead of creating trouble for himself, he'd be better off looking at pretty girls on the street!
"This cat!"

When Lin Ge left, Qian Wei actually breathed a sigh of relief.

"Let's go!"

Without mentioning his status as a pet owner, Qian Wei chuckled, started his electric scooter, and drove off without hesitation.

It's just like a customer who turns on you as soon as he puts his pants on.

Lin Ge's face was as black as ink.

The unexpected incident has finally subsided temporarily. The road is now open again, and Lin Ge lazily returns to the pedestrian street. He finds a decent-looking tree, climbs to the top, and begins to leisurely bask in the sun.

"Boss, something happened!"

A man wearing a hat approached a tree and whispered into his phone, "The police found the goods! That idiot hit an old lady on the street, got caught by the police, and unfortunately, they found what was in the box..."

"Ok?"

Lin Ge curiously peeked out from the leaves. What a coincidence!

Were there accomplices of the thieves among the onlookers?

Wouldn't this be like stirring up trouble and alerting the enemy?
Qian Weizhen is a jinx.
