Reborn Cat Sheriff

Chapter 448 Rabbit and Cat

Chapter 448 Rabbit and Cat (Bonus Chapter for 1000 Monthly Tickets)

Worried that Nie Guoqiang would order him around again, Lin Ge didn't dare stay in the office any longer. Taking advantage of Nie Shiren's focus on communicating with the person opposite him, he sneaked out.

The weather is surprisingly nice today, but I hear it's going to get colder again in a couple of days. It seems like Zhangzhou's climate will have to go through this cycle several times before spring is finally kicked away without a trace, and we're headed straight for the hot summer.
Lin Ge strolled out of the police station and walked aimlessly. He randomly boarded a bus, got off at a random stop, and somehow ended up in the jurisdiction of Longquan Police Station, in a place called Longquan Park.

The park was mostly filled with elderly people doing their winter exercises; apart from the open space near the main entrance, it wasn't very lively. The lawns and flowerbeds were only just beginning to turn green and weren't particularly interesting. Lin Ge strolled around the park casually, but finding nothing of interest, he slipped out through the back gate.

The back gate is also the back gate of the neighboring Longquan Middle School, so people aren't allowed to enter or exit freely. But those electric fences and such are meaningless to a cat. Lin Ge simply took advantage of the moment when the security guard was greeting a passerby to easily slip through the fence and enter the middle school.

Everyone in Zhangzhou knows that Longquan Middle School is the best high school in the city. Whether it's the admission scores for junior high to senior high, the number of students admitted to top-tier universities, or the school's teaching staff, it's the strongest in Zhangzhou. Even outstanding students from surrounding cities try every means to study at this school.

To a large extent, the academic performance of this middle school represents the upper limit of education in Zhangzhou City. Therefore, Longquan Middle School is known in Zhangzhou City for its strict management, high academic pressure, and extremely demanding academic life for its students.

When Lin Ge entered, it was right after class, but there wasn't a soul in sight outside the classroom. The playground was completely bare, and no one was playing around in the corridors. It seemed the students were using every minute to study, wasting no time except for going to the toilet.

To be honest, the pressure in this kind of environment is quite immense. It's not just the students; even Lin Ge, after arriving here, felt a sense of urgency and the absurd feeling that affecting their studies was a heinous crime.

So he wandered around the first floor for a bit before heading out through the main entrance. But as soon as he reached a secluded corner on the first floor of the teaching building, he noticed a sign that read "Relaxation Corner" and suddenly stopped in his tracks, puzzled.

There was a strong, pungent animal odor in the air. It clashed completely with the solemn atmosphere of the school, yet it was undeniably there.

Lin Ge walked over curiously and saw a short girl wearing glasses standing quietly at the entrance of the relaxation corner, reaching inside with something in her hand. The school bell had already rung, but the girl showed no intention of returning to the classroom.

Lin Ge was puzzled as to what had happened, so he slowly walked over. Upon closer inspection, he finally understood what the so-called relaxation corner was.

The so-called relaxation corner is actually a miniature zoo. From Ringo's perspective, he can see rabbits, pheasants, and squirrels. The rabbits and pheasants are kept in separate cages on either side, while the squirrels move around through pipes hanging on the wall. There are also two small huts in the inner corner for resting and storing food. Two little squirrels peeked out from above, and upon spotting Ringo, quickly fled.

On a small table nearby, there was a vegetable basket and a small dish. The basket contained a few vegetable leaves, and the dish held a few peanuts or something similar. It seemed that students could feed these things for free, looking at them during their busy studies as a way to relax their bodies and minds.

There are four rabbits of various sizes, plus two pheasants and five or six squirrels, which make up the entire relaxation corner. Moreover, rabbits, pheasants, and squirrels are the kind of animals unlikely to make noise, so they won't disturb anyone. Feeding them won't harm the students either; choosing them took some thought.

Lin Ge didn't know who had set up this relaxation corner in the school, nor did he know if it would actually be useful for the hardworking high school students. But just looking at the girl standing in front of the rabbit, oblivious to Lin Ge's arrival, he knew that the hardworking high school students might really need a place like this. It didn't necessarily need to have rabbits or pheasants, but it needed to be quiet and secluded enough for the wounded students to secretly lick their wounds there.

Yes!

Although he didn't know what had happened, Lin Ge had already seen the tears in the short girl's eyes.

Is it academic pressure or life problems?

Watching her forcefully tear cabbage leaves into pieces the size of fingernails and then throw them into the rabbit cage, Lin Ge was a little hesitant to disturb her.

"Next time, I absolutely cannot lose!"

Gu Peiyao gritted her teeth as she tore at the cabbage leaves as if they were nonexistent enemies. In the blink of an eye, both large cabbage leaves were fed to the rabbits. Looking at these stupid creatures who only knew how to eat and drink, she clapped her hands, came to her senses, and decided that she would definitely settle things with them next time!
"Losing by three points in this monthly exam is okay! Even if three points means falling behind by two thousand places, it's okay! I can still catch up! Come on! Gu Peiyao, you can do it!"

Gu Peiyao clenched her fists to encourage herself, then took a deep breath to calm herself down. Wiping away her tears, she turned and left, pouting.

"This kid... it's really tough being a college entrance exam candidate!"

Lin Ge peeked out from another corner, watching with a sigh as the girl named Gu Peiyao strode away like a general going into battle. She walked in a hurry, almost tripping. But even so, she didn't stop, as if trying to make up for every minute she had wasted in the relaxation corner.

After Gu Peiyao disappeared from sight, Lin Ge looked around and, finding no one watching, secretly approached to curiously observe the rabbits in the cages separated by only one cage.

To be honest, rabbits' ears are ridiculously long! They're even longer than their heads. I have no idea what the purpose of such long ears is. Lin Ge even suspects that besides making it easier for humans to grab them by the ears, they serve no other purpose whatsoever.

If we're talking about enhancing hearing, there's no need to exaggerate to this extent. Even if Lin Ge used himself as an example, with one ear long and a short tail, and the other with pointed ears and a long tail, which one is more pleasing to the eye? Without a doubt, cats are definitely the most elegant creatures!
Lin Ge sighed narcissistically.

Just then, a white, red-eyed creature that had been circling in its cage suddenly noticed the gray-white cat outside the cage door. Surprisingly, it wasn't afraid at all, and hopped towards Lin Ge. It even stretched its flat mouth out through the cage gap, seemingly wanting closer contact with Lin Ge. Lin Ge stared at it curiously; it was the first time he'd been so close to a rabbit. He curiously reached out a paw to touch the rabbit's nose, but the rascal opened its three-lobed mouth, revealing long rabbit teeth, and without hesitation, bit Lin Ge's paw hard.

'Snapped! '

Lin Ge slapped the bastard's face so hard it turned to the side.

"You dare bite me? Don't you want to live anymore?"

Glaring at the little rascal, seeing that it wasn't angry even after being slapped, and was still pouting at him undeterred, Lin Ge couldn't help but smile again. Arguing with such a fool was just asking for trouble; this caged creature probably had never even seen a cat in its entire life.

Curious, Lingo looked around and then jumped onto the small metal rack where the food was kept. There were only three vegetable leaves left, but there were still quite a few peanuts in their shells in the plate next to it. Lingo first grabbed a peanut and threw it into the cage, and immediately all four rabbits rushed over to grab the food.

Upon discovering it was a peanut, three of the rabbits turned and hopped away without hesitation. Only the one gray idiot lowered its head and ate the whole peanut, shell and all, chewing vigorously until it was gone.

Lin Ge's eyes glazed over for a moment, as if he saw the unfortunate fellow's resentful gaze.

"Haha... You really are an idiot! What's so good about peanut shells? Here, have a leaf to make up for it."

Lin Ge was overjoyed; it was the first time he'd ever known that feeding rabbits could be so fun. So he pulled out a cabbage leaf, hooked it with his fingernail, and tossed it into the cage.

The gray rabbit's ears twitched, seemingly unwilling to suffer the same fate twice. But by the time it caught the fresh scent of the vegetable leaves and rushed over, the other three rabbits had already secured a good position. The three of them joined forces and, in a few swift movements, devoured the entire vegetable leaf clean.

Lin Ge seemed to see the gray rabbit already petrified.

He laughed so hard he rolled over on the shelf, almost falling into the cage. Seeing how amusing the gray rabbit's unfortunate state was, he pushed the remaining leaves in all at once.

This time, the gray rabbit finally managed to bite down on a leaf. Without hesitation, it turned and ran, as if afraid the leaf would be snatched away again. Unfortunately, it hadn't run two steps before a white rabbit leaped over it like a mountain, snatching the leaf from its mouth once more…

This scene almost made Lin Ge burst out laughing, and all his previous frustration and exhaustion vanished. Seeing the four rabbits raise their heads and look at him expectantly again, Lin Ge regretfully discovered that there wasn't a single vegetable leaf left on the shelf, and there was nothing left to feed them.

"Little kitten! These rabbits and leaves are meant to help students relieve stress. You've ruined them so carelessly, what are they going to do after class?"

Just as Lin Ge was searching for vegetable leaves, a voice suddenly rang out behind him.

Lin Ge was so frightened that his hair stood on end. He suddenly felt the fear of a bad student being caught by the headmaster. Without saying a word, he turned and ran.

"I saw you on the news! Mimi, if you dare to run away like this, don't blame me for going to your parents!"

The voice behind him spoke slowly, causing Lin Ge to abruptly stop in his tracks.

Feeling a little guilty, Lin Ge could only obediently stop and turn around. Looking up, he saw an old man with gray hair and a hunched back. The old man looked somewhat serious, but there was a smile on his lips.

He was also carrying a bamboo basket containing a fresh Chinese cabbage, glistening with dew.

"You wasted my cabbage, so at least wipe the water droplets off this one for me! Otherwise, I'm really going to tell your parents! The famous police cat Mimi, you don't want people to know you're sneaking around doing bad things at school, do you?"

"right?"

As he spoke, the old man placed the bamboo basket in front of Lin Ge.
