Chapter 123 Bait
Zheko coughed lightly, looked at Scarlett, and explained, "The reproduction of the Zerg is different from that of us Orcs. The females of their race need to mate with the males constantly to reproduce until they die."

"The larger the population expands, the more female insects are needed. Therefore, they will wantonly seize females from other species, modify their bodies, turn them into female insects, and reduce them to reproductive tools."

Just a few sentences.

Scarlett broke out in a cold sweat and felt a chill run down her spine.

She recalled a documentary about queen ants that she had once watched.

The queen ant spends her long life laying eggs until her death, creating a kingdom on her own. After losing her ability to reproduce, she is either abandoned or eaten by the ant colony.

Scarlett felt a tightness in her chest, and she couldn't catch her breath. Her face, which had been full of energy just moments before, had turned deathly pale.

It's unimaginable how terrifying her future would have been if she had been taken away.

Scarlett reached out and grabbed Zheko's arm, pulling him to her side. With her other hand, she grabbed Brian and huddled behind them, saying timidly, "You, you have to protect me. Don't let the Zerg take me away."

“Riley, you too.” She looked at Riley.

He turned his head and looked at Mo Ting again.

Mo Ting wasn't wearing a mask, and he had taken off his sunglasses. He stood in the bright light with a cold expression, and the strong light made his sharp features even more striking.

Scarlett thought about it and decided against it.

He should be thanking God he didn't kill himself.

Silently withdrawing his gaze.

Scarlett.

Mo Ting took the initiative to speak and called out to her.

Scarlett stiffly twisted her neck. "What is it?"

"Why don't you give it a try?" Mo Ting asked with a smile.

"Try what?" Scarlett's eyes widened.

Mo Ting said with ill intent, "You were able to get the pass ore by being taken away by the Zerg. Since that's possible, why don't we try again? Let's see if we can get the next ore this time."

Scarlett's jaw clenched. "You...you...you want me to be bait?"

"Yes."

Mo Ting nodded, readily admitting it.

"No."

Zerg refused on Scarlett's behalf: "The Zerg are not strong, but they have the advantage of numbers. Once they appear in large numbers, we will easily be distracted. This method is too dangerous and cannot be tried."

Scarlett nodded repeatedly, moved, and clung tightly to his arm, refusing to let go no matter what.

The thighs she chose at first glance were indeed a safe bet.

Mo Ting walked over.

He glanced at Zheko first, then pushed past Brian, grabbed Scarlett's free arm, and pulled her towards him. "Don't worry, I'll protect her."

Will Mo Ting protect her?

Did she hear it right?

Scarlett was stunned, but she didn't forget to struggle desperately, trying to break free from Mo Ting's grasp and completely side with Zhe Ke.

But Mo Ting held her arm tightly. The more she struggled, the harder Mo Ting tightened his grip, his strong hand seeming to be able to break her bones through her skin.

"It hurts."

Scarlett was in so much pain that she cried out.

She controlled the volume so as not to disturb the surrounding snow-capped mountains, but everyone around her could hear her.

"Mo Ting, you're hurting her," Riley reminded her.

Brian looked at Scarlett, then at Mo Ting, his dark eyebrows furrowed. "Mo Ting, Scarlett isn't feeling well. Let her go."

Dzeko's expression was hidden behind his mask.

A layer of frost rose on that cold face, and the chill it released was comparable to the overwhelming snow and ice.

He took off his sunglasses.

His amber pupils gleamed with a fierce light, like a beast eyeing its prey, poised to pounce.

Mo Ting smiled.

His grey-green eyes swept over Zheko's eyes with extremely keen insight, then casually looked away.

Looking at Zheko, he spoke to Scarlett: "Scarlett, you caused us to delay the game. Shouldn't you take some action to make amends? You didn't even take such a good opportunity. It seems your so-called 'doing your best' is nothing more than that."

With a single sentence from Mo Ting, Scarlett's lifeline was seized, and her struggling movements immediately ceased.

She looked up and stared blankly at Mo Ting.

Mo Ting noticed her gaze, raised an eyebrow, and turned to look at her.

His grey-green eyes, like dusty pearls, shone with a unique brilliance that reached Scarlett's heart.

He didn't speak, he just looked at Scarlett.

His eyes held a hint of disdain, as if mocking Scarlett's earlier words.

Scarlett pursed her lips. Although she was afraid, this was a good opportunity. She tilted her head back and said, "Okay."

Mo Ting loosened his grip slightly, but he didn't give up on wanting Rascare to come to his side.

Scarlett didn't move, and said bluntly, "I can be the bait, but I don't need your protection, I need Zheko's protection."

"Zheko?"

Mo Ting uttered those two words softly, then turned his gaze back to Zhe Ke. After thinking for a moment, he said, "Okay."

……

……

With the matter settled, the group began working on Scarlett as "bait."

Brian, still worried, whispered in Scarlett's ear, "Remember, it's okay to be bait, just don't fall into the water."

"Why?" Scarlett asked softly.

Brian said sullenly, "Zeko, Riley, and I are not good swimmers. Shallow water is fine, but if we fall into a big hole like the one before, we're doomed. Our abilities will be greatly reduced, and we won't be able to save ourselves."

Orcs retain their animalistic nature, and their abilities are affected by different environments.

Take Zheko as an example. His beast form is a tiger, and his level is SS. However, if he were to fight underwater, he might not be as good as the A+ level mermaid Sevier.

All things in the universe are interconnected and mutually restraining; even the most powerful orcs cannot escape this.

Scarlett wiped the cold sweat that had suddenly appeared on her forehead. "Where's Mo Ting?"

"He's a psychopath, he has no natural enemies, he'll do anything."

Brian glanced at her, recalling Mo Ting's earlier actions, and abruptly changed the subject, "But, will he save you?"

"will not."

Scarlett knew perfectly well what was going on.

…………

Females are fatally attractive to the Zerg; no special seduction is needed, just normal behavior is enough, and they will automatically take the bait.

Scarlett was tired, so she sat down to rest.

She took out the food and shared it with everyone.

When she was assigned to Mo Ting, she remembered Brian's words: no matter what, her own life was the most important.

I gave him an extra fragrant roasted chicken leg.

Mo Ting looked at the chicken leg, then at Scarlett's fawning face, and smiled slightly before taking it.

Just about to eat.

But then Scarlett handed Zheko two chicken drumsticks.

He even thoughtfully wrapped the chicken leg bone in a tissue to prevent him from getting his hands dirty.

Mo Ting narrowed his eyes.

The chicken leg in my hand suddenly didn't taste so good anymore.

One bite, and it's utterly tasteless.

"Eat, eat more, you'll have the strength to fight when you're full." Scarlett urged everyone to eat, like a concerned matriarch.

She didn't miss out either, eating a chicken in her left hand and a duck in her right, enjoying her meal more than anyone else.

You need to be well-fed to have the strength to escape.

Eat and eat.

Scarlett realized something was wrong.

A "crunching" sound came from beside her.

Getting closer, getting closer.

Her first thought was, "The Zerg are here!"
Dropping the roast duck in his hand, he grabbed Zheko like an octopus, using both his hands and feet to hug him.

Zheko was also startled by her actions. After recognizing the species that made the sound, he looked down at the person shaking in his arms and patted her shoulder to comfort her, "Don't worry, it's not."

Scarlett looked up. "What's that?"

"Wild boar," said Zheko.

Scarlett turned her head to look.

A wild boar with tusks appeared not far from her, munching on the roast duck she had thrown away.

She breathed a sigh of relief and quickly got off Zheko.

"Boar."

Scarlett looked at the wild boar, which was half her height, and said, "It's really fat. If we slaughter it, we can eat it for a long time."

Upon hearing this, the wild boar slowed down its eating and its ears perked up.

“How come there are wild boars here?” Scarlett asked Zheko.

Zheko said, "The desolate planet is special, with all kinds of creatures. Some are exiled orcs who will turn back into beast form after their mental power is sealed. Others are smuggled over from other planets, without identity, and are illegal immigrants. They dare not easily transform into human form for fear of being monitored by the Empire and deported."

“And what about this?” Scarlett asked, pointing to the wild boar.

Zheko glanced at it twice, but couldn't detect any mental energy. He said uncertainly, "It might be an exiled orc."

"Pig-beastman?"

Scarlett's curiosity was piqued, so she took a few steps closer to the wild boar, looked it over carefully, and said with a grin, "I've never seen a boar-beastman before. I wonder if they'll be fat and big-eared after they transform."

Zheko laughed and said, "The pig-beastmen are just like us; they don't have any special characteristics."

Scarlett glanced at him and smiled, "That's true."

Scarlett continued to sit down and eat.

But she didn't realize that she had moved further away from Zheko, creating a gap that could be cut.

The wild boar was still munching away.

The sound it makes is slow and deep, and has a hypnotic effect when you hear it.

The effect is even greater when everyone is relaxed.

Riley and Brian stared at one spot, gradually losing focus. They lost their grip on what they were holding, and it rolled away. The wild boar boldly walked over and ate it.

Zheke and Moting exchanged a knowing glance, letting the voice enter their ears while pretending to be in a daze.

As Scarlett ate, her eyelids grew heavy.

She shook her head and glanced at the cream cake in her hand.

The white cream, refracted by the strong light, created a dazzling white glow that blended with the pure white snow before her, making her dizzy.

"what happened?"

Scarlett shook her head.

I want to open my eyes and look at other people.

She turned her head and there stood a wild boar with tusks in front of her, grinning and uttering human words like a pervert.

"female."

"A beautiful female."

"I want to take it back to the cave to be a female insect."

Scarlett was startled, then suddenly realized what was happening and got up to run towards Zheko.

But before she could get up, the thick snow beneath her feet suddenly cracked open with huge fissures, just like before.

Countless pairs of yellowed hands appeared at the edge of the crack.

This time, there were more hands than last time, so many that Scarlett's trypophobia was triggered.

She looked at Zheko with despair, her eyes brighter than ever.

Remember to save me.

Zheko's heart snapped. He reached out to grab Scarlett, but it was too late. Scarlett disappeared even faster this time than before.

As Scarlett disappeared, Brian and Riley came to their senses and immediately noticed the ice cave, standing up abruptly.

Mo Ting walked to Zhe Ke's side and followed his gaze to the bottomless ice cave. "So? You go or I will?"

Zheko opened his mouth, but no sound came out.

Mo Ting had already jumped down.
