Chapter 119 What Jiang Lanye Did for Her
His lips trembled slightly as he kissed Song Yi, his movements gentler than ever before, as if afraid of hurting her.

Like a soft feather brushing against the lips, leaving a slight tickle.

Song Yi's eyes widened suddenly as she realized that Jiang Lanye seemed to still be afraid. For the first time, she tentatively opened her lips slightly and cautiously responded to him.

Noticing her response, Jiang Lanye paused abruptly, then his breathing deepened. He raised his hand to support the back of her head, and, as if unable to restrain himself any longer, kissed her deeply and intensely.

It was as if they were confirming her presence.

My tongue is numb.

Song Yi felt pain and groaned. Jiang Lanye then slightly parted her lips and saw that they seemed to be a little sore. He reached out and gently stroked them for a moment.

"Song Yi, do you know, I've been waiting for this day."

Song Yi looked at Jiang Lanye with some confusion, not understanding the specific meaning of his words.

Seeing Song Yi's dazed expression, he suddenly chuckled softly, cupped her face, and gently pecked her red lips in a comforting manner.

So sweet.

Song Yi finally couldn't help but push him away.

"Jiang Lanye, are you going to keep kissing me? Look how tired you are now, go and rest."

Jiang Lanye gave a perfunctory reply, but still refused to move away, staring intently at her lips.

Song Yi saw intense lust in his dark, inky eyes.

She was immediately frightened and said in a trembling voice, "I'm covered in injuries right now, and besides, you haven't rested well either. Let's do it next time."

Jiang Lanye paused, realizing what Song Yi was thinking, and suddenly raised his hand to gently rub her head, saying in a hoarse voice:

"I'm going to take a bath. You can go back to sleep for a while."

"If you feel unwell anywhere, immediately ask Xichun to fetch a doctor to take a look."

Song Yi responded and watched Jiang Lanye leave the room.

She raised her hand blankly and touched her lips.

It looks like there's a small cut on my skin. I couldn't resist sticking out my tongue and licking it. It hurts so much.

Xi Chun slipped in, pretending not to see Song Yi's rosy lips from being kissed, and brought over the medicine.

"Your Majesty, please drink your medicine. The doctor said that this medicine must be taken three times a day without fail."

Song Yi gulped it down in one go and couldn't help but say, "It's so bitter."

If she had known she would have to take medicine, she should have let Jiang Lanye kiss her now.

Xichun placed the bowl on the table, sat down beside her, and tucked the blanket around Song Yi.

Song Yi looked at Xi Chun and quickly asked, "Xi Chun, tell me quickly, what exactly happened along the way? Why does Jiang Lanye look so tired?"

Xi Chun felt conflicted and sighed softly upon hearing this.

After Song Yi fainted halfway up the mountain, the military doctor's methods were crude. After feeding her pills, Jiang Lanye carried Song Yi to the waterfall, scooped up some water, wet a handkerchief, and wiped her face clean little by little.

Xi Chun went to the carriage to find a comb. Jiang Lanye had Xi Chun help her sit on a rock and gently combed her messy hair, then put the hairpin back in for her.

He then washed her hands with water, took a clean cloth, and simply bandaged them. After that, he carried Song Yi on his back and slowly walked uphill.

As the emperor, Jiang Lanye saw this scene and didn't want to tire him out, but he didn't dare to suggest that they carry the Imperial Concubine on their backs.

It's inappropriate in the end.

So they decided to slow down and stop to rest every short distance. But Jiang Lanye remained silent the whole time, his face terribly cold. As they were about to sit down, they saw him firmly supporting Song Yi's body as they walked uphill, so they quickly followed.

Xichun took a thick robe and draped it over Song Yi, covering her face, which was flushed from the high fever.

She remained quietly on Jiang Lanye's back, showing no signs of waking up.

Along the way, even the soldiers who were used to walking felt tired, but Jiang Lanye didn't even pant and kept walking.

They finally reached the top of the mountain just as darkness fell.

It was unusually cold all around.

Jiang Lanye wrapped Song Yi's cloak tighter around her, held her close, led her into the carriage, fed her water and medicine, and then cupped her face, showering her with tender kisses.

Xichun brought some snacks, and Jiang Lanye only ate a little. As soon as he finished eating, he hugged Song Yi tightly, afraid that she would feel cold in such an environment.

The two of them stayed together like that all night.

Before dawn the next day, Jiang Lanye's body was clearly on the verge of collapse.

He carried Song Yi on his back for a long time, and was exhausted after a whole day. At night, he took off his robe and wrapped it around Song Yi. He couldn't sleep soundly and would wake up every now and then to touch Song Yi's forehead.

Before he had even had a proper rest, he carried Song Yi down the mountain again.

During this time, some people tried to persuade Jiang Lanye, but when Jiang Lanye looked at them with his icy eyes, he seemed more terrifying than a wild wolf in the mountains. They could only silently stay by Jiang Lanye's side all the way.

What was originally a two-day journey was shortened to one day.

After descending the mountain and boarding the carriage, Jiang Lanye held Song Yi and slept briefly before entering the city.

When the officials here saw Jiang Lanye carrying the unconscious Imperial Concubine down the road, they were all startled and quickly found two doctors to examine Song Yi's pulse.

Jiang Lanye thought he would finally be able to rest after settling down here, but unexpectedly he stayed by Song Yi's side and refused to go to sleep. After listening to the doctor's words, he did everything himself.

He carried Song Yi to bathe, washed the dust off her body, applied ointment to her, and wrapped her tightly in white cloth.

Finally, they dried her hair, carefully braided it, and after half a day of fussing, they finally put her on the couch and fed her porridge and medicine.

During this time, Zuo Sheng was waiting for Jiang Lanye's punishment, but unfortunately, he was preoccupied with Song Yi.

Even though Xichun wanted to take over Jiang Lanye's place, Jiang Lanye was still unwilling.

Finally, he almost fainted when he stood up; his eyes were terribly red. The doctor quickly gave him acupuncture.

When Jiang Lanye went to take a bath alone, he almost fell into a deep sleep in the bathtub.

Finally, my body reached its limit, and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I fell asleep.

However, Song Yi didn't sleep for long before waking up.

Xichun spoke at length, having witnessed firsthand the hardships the two had endured along the way. She recounted many details to Song Yi until her throat was dry, at which point she finally stopped.

Song Yi's eyelashes trembled, and she felt her fingertips go numb. After hearing the story, she felt a pang of sadness and pain in her heart.

This feeling is so unbearable; it feels like something is blocking my chest, making it hard to breathe.

She suddenly longed to see Jiang Lanye, even though they had only recently parted ways.

She threw back the covers and got out of bed.

Xichun was startled by her sudden movement and quickly said, "Your Highness, your foot is not healed yet."
