Chapter 110 Throwing Herself into His Arms

She had never been so terrified; fear washed over her like a tidal wave, and her heart went numb.

Without even thinking, she threw off the covers, didn't even put on her shoes, let her hair down, and staggered out, opening the door.

Xi Chun stood guard outside the door. Hearing the commotion inside, she was about to push the door open when it was pulled open from the inside.

"Your Majesty! You're awake!"

She had barely finished speaking when she saw Song Yi run out in the blink of an eye.

In the hall.

Jiang Lanye was drinking tea, casually sketching the locations shown on the sheepskin map. The people around him were also tired, their faces showing exhaustion. Under the dim candlelight, they closed their eyes and became drowsy.

"Jiang Lanye!"

Song Yi's voice suddenly came from the doorway.

Jiang Lanye's hand trembled. When he looked up, he was shocked to see Song Yi running towards him, as if she had been greatly frightened, and she crashed into his arms.

The teacup in my hand shook violently, and the tea spilled out.

He held Song Yi tightly with one arm, placed the teacup on the table with the other, and was finally able to lift her up. He turned and sat down on a chair next to her, wrapping his arms around her waist, and said gently, "Is Jiang Lanye having a nightmare?"

Several people who were dozing off were instantly awakened. Seeing their emperor and empress in such an intimate posture, they looked at each other strangely, not knowing where to look.

She sat on Jiang Lanye's lap, burying her face in the crook of his neck, her hair hanging down, occasionally scratching Jiang Lanye's neck.

She remained silent, simply nestled in his arms.

Jiang Lanye then noticed that she hadn't even put on an outer robe, but had run out wearing only a thin garment, her bare feet covered in dust from the ground.

Jiang Lanye showed no disgust and reached out to gather her feet together.

"What's wrong? Why did you run out without even putting on your shoes?"

Song Yi's fever had subsided, and now she was just feeling a little weak, breathing heavily, and was especially dependent on the person holding her.

I'm afraid you'll leave me behind.

Her voice was hoarse, and she looked extremely aggrieved.

Unexpectedly, Song Yi started by saying this, and Jiang Lanye felt both amused and heartbroken. He said:
"No, I don't trust anyone but myself to take good care of you."

Song Yi gave a heavy "hmm" and hugged him tightly.

The group kept their eyes downcast, never expecting Jiang Lanye to be so gentle when facing Song Yi.

Incredibly gentle
Xichun stood at the door, hesitatingly looking at the scene inside.

Jiang Lanye glanced at her and gestured for her to come in.

Xichun, holding the robe, went over and explained, "Your Majesty, the Empress was frightened. I was guarding the door when she suddenly ran over."

Jiang Lanye took the clothes and wrapped them around Song Yi's body. Then, he put one hand under her knees, stood up, and said, "I will come back later."

Anyway, there's nothing urgent right now, and we finished talking about everything before Song Yi woke up.

"Yes."

Jiang Lanye frowned, strode out, carried her back to the room, and made her sit on the couch.

Without Jiang Lanye needing to say anything more, Xichun had already gone to fetch a basin of warm water, brought it in, and then left to close the door.

Song Yi braced herself on the bedsheets, watching Jiang Lan squatting in front of her in the middle of the night, grabbing her ankles and gesturing for her to wash her feet.

Song Yi put her feet into the warm water.

The warm water felt wonderful, enveloping her cool skin, and she drifted into a daze.

Seeing this, Jiang Lanye got up again and lit the candles in the room.

The blinding light finally brought Song Yi back to her senses. Looking at Jiang Lanye, and recalling the moment she had thrown herself into his arms, she said awkwardly:

"When I woke up, I found the room dark and quiet, and I almost thought you had abandoned me."

Jiang Lanye said calmly, "Xichun was afraid that lighting the lamp in the room would disturb your rest, so she didn't light it. You slept until dark." Song Yi nodded blankly.

After she finished washing her feet, Jiang Lanye brought over a towel.

Seeing this, Song Yi awkwardly shrank her legs and reached out to take the handkerchief.

"I can just do it myself."

Jiang Lanye deftly dodged, unfolded the handkerchief, and carefully wiped her feet clean.

"Still uncomfortable?"

Jiang Lan asked at night.

Song Yi raised her hand to touch her forehead and found that it was no longer hot. She immediately said triumphantly, "I'm all better now. Don't you see how much better I feel than before? My fever broke after a good night's sleep."

Jiang Lanye gave a sneer with an ambiguous meaning.

"Just now, I was so weak that I had no strength left. If I hadn't been able to catch you, I'm afraid you would have been kneeling on the ground."

"That's because I was still half asleep!"

It is also strong to be irrational.

Jiang Lanye didn't argue with her about these things, but gestured for her to raise her arm and helped her put on her clothes.

"You slept all afternoon, so I guess you're not sleepy anymore. Would you like something to eat?"

Song Yi glanced out the window; the sky wasn't quite dark yet. He nodded casually.

Jiang Lanye went out and brought in some congee and side dishes.

"Come and eat."

Song Yi walked over slowly.

Jiang Lanye was worried that Song Yi wouldn't want to eat these, so he explained, "The conditions are limited. If you don't like them, I'll go and see what else I can make for you."

Song Yi couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm not some delicate person, this is fine for me. Besides, would you even know how to eat it?"

Jiang Lanye, with a blank expression, gently flicked the tip of her nose.

Song Yi picked up a spoon and took a few sips of porridge, then said, "I want to go out with Xichun in a little while. We'll find a woman in this village and ask her some questions."

Jiang Lanye immediately frowned.

Seeing that he was about to refuse, Song Yi quickly said, "Jiang Lanye, you should give me more trust, right? Look how afraid I am that you will abandon me after I got sick. Do you think I would still secretly run away?"

"Besides, everyone is clinging to you and surrounding you right now. If you spend your time with me at this time, they'll probably start calling me a wicked concubine who brings ruin to the country."

Before Jiang Lanye could say a word, Song Yi shut him up.

"Don't worry, Xichun and I will just wander around around here and be back soon. When we get back, I'll come find you right away."

She finished the rest of the porridge in one gulp, wiped her mouth, and said with a smile, "Okay, it's decided then."

As she was about to stand up, Jiang Lanye suddenly grabbed her wrist and pulled her away.

"Eh"

A shadow fell over them, and Jiang Lanye pinched her chin and kissed her for a long time.

Jiang Lanye only stopped when Song Yi felt her lips were about to go numb. Looking at her blank expression, he couldn't help but ask, "Are you stupid?"

Just as Song Yi was about to say something, Jiang Lanye, mimicking her manner, interrupted her.

"I haven't kissed you since we arrived here. Kiss me more this time, but not next time."

Song Yi wanted to say something more.

"What, you're unwilling? You have no choice but to agree. When I'm out and about, I can't even kiss my own concubine. If word gets out, what will people think?"
