Chapter 10 I will be responsible

Shen Yanci contacted the driver, and Qin Zhao took him to the school gate.

Shen Yanci's mood was extremely low the whole way, and his face was as black as charcoal.

Qin Zhao felt very apologetic. If it weren't for Shen Yanci, she would have landed face-first on the ground. Now that her ankle was fractured, she earnestly promised, "I will take responsibility."

Shen Yanci stopped his excited steps, turned around and approached her: "Take responsibility? How will you take responsibility?"

His height of 1.86 meters was extremely imposing, and when he looked down at her, it should have been an accusation. But perhaps because the heat from earlier hadn't completely dissipated, there was also a sense of being teased and a nameless anger in addition to the accusation.

Qin Zhao blinked, puzzled, not understanding why he suddenly got angry: "I'll take you to the hospital and pay for your medical expenses."

Finally, observing Shen Yanci's expression, she added, "Is that alright?"

Her gaze was honest, with a cautious probing in her eyes, her bright pupils dark and clear.

When you look up at him, you see the obedience and innocence of a small animal.

Shen Yanci suddenly fell silent. His Adam's apple bobbed, and he raised his hand to pinch Qin Zhao's chin, pushing her face away and forcing her to turn around.

"Ok?"

His face, which had finally gained some weight, was pinched out of shape. He used a lot of force, and Qin Zhao felt some pain.

She raised her hand and touched his wrist, but he let go as if he had touched a hot potato.

His departing figure was decisive and swift, as if some dirty thing was chasing him.

Just like when she was collecting recyclables before, even though she couldn't touch them at all, passersby would subconsciously walk to the side and quicken their pace.

Qin Zhao pursed his lips, unsure whether he should chase after them.

After waiting for a few minutes, Qin Zhao followed him at a distance until he got into the car and left.

Qin Zhao suddenly remembered that Qin Qiong had asked her to go home with Lin Shi that morning, but the road was deserted and there wasn't a car in sight.

Lin Shi should have gone back long ago.

She wondered if Qin Qiong and Lin Zheng were home. She hoped they were away on a business trip today, otherwise it would be troublesome to explain.

With her phone and schoolbag in the classroom, she quickened her pace.

She usually turns her phone off, but she turned it on as she walked, planning to scan a shared bike and use the map to navigate back.

There were several missed calls on my phone, as well as WeChat messages from Qin Qiong.

"Zhaozhao, where are you?"

"I'll ask the driver to pick you up."

"Zhaozhao, could you reply to this message first? Mom is a little worried."

Interspersed throughout were several video and voice chats.

A strange feeling welled up in Qin Zhao's heart.

No one had ever sent her such a long message of concern, or rather, no one needed her. Even if she disappeared, it would be of no consequence to the world, less than the ripples caused by a pebble on a lake.

She replied to the message quickly.

The blinding headlights pierced the dim night, and a loud screeching sound rang out as a Maybach pulled up in front of her.

Qin Zhao raised his hand to block the light. The car window rolled down, revealing Lin Shi's cold and stern face: "Get in!" His voice was loud, almost a shout, his cheeks puffed out slightly from clenching his teeth, and his expression was terrible.

Qin Zhao adjusted his backpack strap, opened the door, and sat down: "Thank you for picking me up."

"No need, I wouldn't dare accept that." Lin Shi's tone was fiery as he turned his head to look out the window, seemingly not wanting to acknowledge her.

"Today..." Qin Zhao thought it would be better to explain to him, but Lin Shi interrupted her as soon as she opened her mouth.

"Didn't you tell me in advance if you weren't going home? You expect everyone to wait for you, don't you! Is it fun to see people worry about you?"

"Shabi!"

"This house has never been peaceful since you came back!" Lin Shi was furious. All he wanted was for her to keep her distance from him? She deliberately didn't show up after school, waiting for him to leave on his own, then letting his parents scold him and deduct his allowance!
His mother was extremely worried when she found out Qin Zhao hadn't returned, and she immediately canceled the project.

Qin Qiong rarely showed a particularly strong side at home, but today when she yelled at him, her voice was sharp and menacing. Such a dignified person, her delicate features now appeared somewhat ferocious. From childhood to adulthood, Lin Shi had never seen his mother like this before.

She argued with him so mercilessly over a supposedly recently found lost son.

"Like a jinx," Lin Shi muttered under his breath. "That green tea bitch deliberately ruined my family. She might as well not have come back at all."

Qin Zhao was used to being scolded since she was a child, so she was very immune to many kinds of words. Even if someone scolded her to her face, she could let it go in one ear and out the other.

Lin Shi hadn't known her for very long, and his accusations were not even one ten-thousandth as vulgar as Jiang Dahai's previous insults.

She, however, felt unusually angry.

She has no right to be angry.

She felt an urge to get out of the car immediately, and her tone turned cold: "I didn't ask you to pick me up."

"Yes, you didn't let me pass, fine, I'll admit I'm being shameless." Lin Shi yelled at the driver, "Stop the car!"

Seeing the two men on the verge of conflict, Uncle Li advised, "We'll be home soon."

"Didn't you hear? They don't want to ride in our car!" Lin Shi said, arms crossed and squinting. "And they even called us cheap!"

Uncle Li, who was referred to as "us": "..."

Uncle Li chuckled awkwardly, "Zhao Zhao is just joking."

As he spoke, he pressed the accelerator even faster.

"Don't you have any backbone? If you don't want to sit, then jump off the train!" Lin Shi turned to Qin Zhao and continued to fuel the fire.

Qin Zhao clenched his fists tightly, suppressing the urge to smash his schoolbag over his head: "Can you shut up! Has no one ever said you're annoying?!"

Lin Shi never expected Qin Zhao to openly defy him. She acted so obediently in front of his mother. In his heart, he was convinced that she was a tattletale, a green tea bitch, and two-faced.

He paused for a moment, then blushed completely: "You're the annoying one! I can't even count how many people like me! I receive a whole box of love letters every semester! And nobody has ever said I'm annoying!"

"But you! People like you are the most annoying. No wonder no one likes you! I'd have to write my name backwards!"

Qin Zhao suppressed the bitterness in his throat, turned his head to look out the window, and closed his eyes.

People only react when their sore spots are touched; Lin Shi is right.

She's been annoying to people since she was a child.

They can't even sell them.

Qin Zhao, why did you become so pretentious after becoming Qin Zhao?
