Chapter 99 I Miss Your Money

After leaving the bookstore, Gao Qinghe went into a nearby phone booth and dialed Jiang Baohai's number.

The phone rang for quite a while before someone answered.

"Ms. Gao, the boss is talking to a client right now. Is there anything I can help you with?"

It was Fang Xiaoyu's mocking laughter.

Gao Qinghe paused for a moment and said, "I've arrived in the county town. Tell your boss to come find me when he's done with his work."

The person on the other end seemed a little embarrassed and paused for a moment, as if they were going to ask the person in charge.

The phone call fee doubled for every minute that passed, and Gao Qinghe was about to hang up when...

Fang Xiaoyu's urgent voice came through again.

"Miss Gao, where are you now? Shall I come and pick you up to take you to the mine?"

Gao Qinghe frowned. "Come to Xinhua Bookstore."

After saying that, he slammed down the phone.

Just at 59 seconds, Gao Qinghe shrugged happily and returned to the bookstore to wait.

Little did Fang Xiaoyu know that after being hung up on, she was trembling with fear, thinking that Fang Xiaoyu still held a grudge against her for making her look bad last time.

Feeling uneasy, I dared not delay and immediately drove to the city to pick up the person, pressing the accelerator so hard it started to ignite.

Gao Qinghe felt like she had only been back in the bookstore for a short while when she heard a car horn honking at the entrance.

Looking out the window, I saw the familiar red sedan parked on the side of the street.

Fang Xiaoyu stood by the car door and waved to her, flashing a bright white smile.

Huang Yanqiu was engrossed in her book, completely absorbed, and didn't react at all to the loud horn noise.

Gao Qinghe raised her hand and tapped her on the head, and Huang Yanqiu finally looked up with a blank expression.

"I'm going out for a bit. If you're bored, you can wander around the city or go home."

Huang Yanqiu said, "I'll take another look at the book; it's a good book."

"what ever."

Gao Qinghe gave her the keys, got in the car, and went to the mine with Fang Xiaoyu.

Driving yourself is so fast; I got there in less than twenty minutes.

Gao Qinghe noticed two black Santanas covered in dust in the parking lot; these must be the big clients Fang Xiaoyu had mentioned.

"The boss said he'll come over as soon as he's done with his work. Miss Gao, please wait in the lounge for a while."

Gao Qinghe asked, "How much longer?"

Fang Xiaoyu glanced at his watch. "It might take an hour, or even longer. It's hard to say; it depends on when the client leaves."

"Shall I go to the cafeteria and get you something to eat?"

It's 12:30 pm now, and the workers have already passed lunchtime, but we have clients today, so the canteen has prepared special meals with plenty of good stuff.

Gao Qinghe didn't know anything about the mine, and she was hungry, so she nodded and said, "Thank you for your help."

He silently made a mental note of Jiang Baohai's actions.

I pulled her over to wait before I was even finished with my work.

Fang Xiaoyu went to get something, leaving Gao Qinghe alone in the lounge.

She stood by the door, looking around. The lounge, about 30 square meters, was divided into two rooms, one inside and one outside.

The door to the inner room was closed, so you couldn't see what was inside.

In the outer room, there's a warm yellow sofa and a black square glass coffee table against the wall near the door.

Opposite the sofa was a simple office chair, with a row of filing cabinets behind it.

Next to the cabinet is the door to the inner room, and there is a coat rack with a black shirt hanging on it.

Gao Qinghe stepped forward and took a look; it had been passed through.

It looks like the clothes Jiang Baohai wore when he went to the village to participate in the ceremony that day.

This lounge doesn't feel like a place for entertaining guests; it's more like a studio apartment.

Gao Qinghe looked up at the painting hanging on the wall. A painting depicting grand ambitions occupied three-quarters of the wall, exuding an air of extravagance.

Fang Xiaoyu returned carrying a tray full of food. Seeing Gao Qinghe standing beneath the grand vision, she smiled and explained:
"This is where the boss usually sleeps. He stays here when he's not going home."

As he spoke, he placed the items from the tray one by one on the coffee table.

A fruit platter, a large lobster, a seafood porridge, and a dish of local pickled vegetables.

"The client came from the seaside?" Gao Qinghe asked.

Fang Xiaoyu nodded exaggeratedly, "Miss Gao is really amazing, you even guessed it right!"

Gao Qinghe thought to herself, "You don't need to be so obsequious."

She's not blind; locals rarely eat this kind of seafood, and you rarely see such large lobsters in the fresh food market.

This was clearly brought from elsewhere specifically for the guests.

Gao Qinghe sat down, picked up a fork, forked a slice of apple, and ate a piece of pineapple.

Fang Xiaoyu immediately introduced, "This is called pineapple. It was brought by the customers who came today. It's a local specialty. They brought a whole sack full. It's delicious, but it's too much trouble to take care of."

The head chef in the kitchen is going crazy trying to prepare this pineapple properly; he doesn't understand why a fruit has so many thorns.

It was sweet and sour with lots of juice. Gao Qinghe ate a couple more pieces and gave a thumbs up, saying, "It's delicious."

It's nice to have a bite of pineapple occasionally.

Gao Qinghe's appetite was whetted. She peeled open the lobster and tore the meat into the porridge. Looking up, she saw Fang Xiaoyu still standing in front of her and told him to go ahead and do what he needed to do.

Fang Xiaoyu didn't leave; the boss instructed him to treat him well until he returned to take over.

It was as if they knew in advance that Gao Qinghe would leave if she got impatient.

For the sake of the delicious food, Gao Qinghe was prepared to wait for more than an hour.

But Jiang Baohai arrived even faster than expected.

She had just finished eating when she heard the sound of leather shoes clicking on the floor in the hallway.

I walked a little too fast, and when I was almost at the door I deliberately paused for a moment before slowly walking into the lounge.

Fang Xiaoyu turned to look at the person who had come in and asked in surprise, "Boss, are you done with your work?"

Jiang Baohai nodded slightly, indicating that he could leave.

Fang Xiaoyu tactfully left, taking away the trash Gao Qinghe had finished eating and closing the door behind him.

As soon as the door closed, the temperature inside immediately rose by several degrees.

"Find me?"

Jiang Baohai took off his coat and tie and hung them on the coat rack, wearing only a white shirt and gray vest underneath.

The fitted vest accentuated her broad chest and narrow waist, while the sleeves were casually rolled up, revealing her strong forearms.

He pulled up his close-fitting suit trousers with both hands and sat down on the single sofa opposite Gao Qinghe.

Noticing a bit of sauce on the corner of her mouth, I pulled out a neatly folded handkerchief from my pocket and handed it to her.

A white handkerchief unfolds, embroidered with a pink rose.

Anyone unfamiliar with his background would definitely assume he is a gentleman.

After wiping her mouth, Gao Qinghe placed the handkerchief on the coffee table and was about to withdraw her hand.

Suddenly, someone leaned down, grabbed her hand with his large hand, and kissed it twice.

Not only did he kiss her, but he also took a deep sniff, rubbing his nose against hers repeatedly before finally releasing her struggling little hand from his grasp.

"It tastes like seafood."

Jiang Baohai smiled with satisfaction, his eyes narrowed slightly, and he scanned every inch of her skin with an extremely aggressive gaze.

Gao Qinghe suddenly had the illusion that she had been licked by a dog, and her whole body felt wet and sticky.

He confidently raised an eyebrow and asked, "Missed me?"

Yes, I miss you.

I miss your money.

Gao Qinghe smiled sweetly, thinking to herself.
