Chapter 128 Mommy, I'm the baby

Early in the morning, Gao Qinghe and her mother boarded a minibus to the train station.

We arrived in the provincial capital at 1 p.m.

The two first went to the provincial hospital to queue up and register, and made an appointment for the examination the next morning.

After leaving the hospital, I found a nice hotel nearby to stay in.

Huang Ying knew her daughter had money, and she wasn't the type to suffer without hardship, so she happily checked into the luxury suite.

I've never taken a bath before; I take off my clothes and soak right away.

Having never seen an 18-inch color TV before, I fumbled for the remote to turn it on, randomly selected a channel, and played it as background noise.

Having never eaten a cream cake before, I immediately asked the housekeeper to bring one up.

Of course, what she craves most is red wine.

Unfortunately, just as his eyes fell on the drinks, Gao Qinghe's deathly gaze swept over him.

"I'll just take a look, take a look." Huang Ying swallowed nervously.

I thought to myself, how did I give birth to such a fierce daughter!
There will be an inspection tomorrow, so I can't eat too much.

Huang Ying didn't argue with her child about this. She wanted to spend a few more years with her child, see her get married and have children, and take care of her little ones.

I can get a good night's sleep at the hotel. The hospital is nearby, so I don't have to get up too early the next day. I can walk there after a good night's sleep, and the timing is just right.

Huang Ying experienced the same pain she had felt at the county hospital before.

The excruciating pain was so intense that she would never have come for a second checkup if she hadn't been thinking, "I can't let my child worry, I have to cooperate with my child."

Knowing that her mother was upset, Gao Qinghe took her to the zoo in the afternoon to relax and cheer her up.

Once again, she used her financial resources, and Gao Qinghe received the test results the next day at noon.

Upon seeing this authoritative inspection report, Gao Qinghe breathed a sigh of relief.

The results of this examination were more detailed than those in the county town, revealing the specific size and that it was still in the very early stages, manageable with medication.

With the biggest worry on her mind finally resolved, and with a good result at that, Gao Qinghe secretly wiped away tears of joy from the corners of her eyes as she went to the bathroom.

This time, she finally won't have to lose her mother so early.

"Doctor, prescribe the best medicine for me. Don't worry about the price. I want the most effective medicine, not imported ones or miracle drugs!"

Huang Ying slapped her daughter's arm and said, "Are you crazy? Don't you value money?"
Gao Qinghe ignored her mother's various hints and insisted that the doctor prescribe the most expensive and best medicine.

The doctor smiled at the anxious Huang Ying, "The worst thing you can do with this disease is get angry. You need to keep a good mood, take your medication and get treatment. I believe you will soon be able to control the condition, and there is even a high probability that you will recover completely."

"Also, you have to watch your diet; you can't smoke or drink alcohol. I really envy you for having such a capable daughter."

The doctor's last words really touched Huang Ying's heart.

Looking at her daughter who was now standing in front of her, Huang Ying felt both proud and bittersweet.

Suddenly I realized that money is a wonderful thing, the more the better.

If she hadn't been rich, this medical trip would have been incredibly difficult, and she definitely wouldn't have had such a relaxed and pleasant experience.

Of course, the pleasure does not include the pain of the examination.

After getting the medicine from the pharmacy, Huang Ying kept saying it was too expensive, so expensive that she kept talking about it even when she went to sleep at night.

"After coming out with you, I've finally realized that money really does make things easier. What if I lose money on that construction project your aunt told you about? Wouldn't you be heartbroken?"

Gao Qinghe's lips curled up. "If you can lose money on such a simple project, I won't urge you to go out and make your own way in the world anymore. You and Dad can stay home, raise pigs and chickens, and farm. As long as you're healthy, that's all that matters."

Huang Ying is most susceptible to being provoked, and immediately snorted, "When I was a kid, I secretly sold rabbits on the black market. Doing construction is also a business, and middlemen make a profit. I can learn what I don't know."

"Oh, by the way, your dad can also draw. He used to study architecture, but unfortunately he had to stop attending classes after only three months of university."

Huang Ying went on and on about many things Gao Qinghe had never heard of before. Only then did she realize that her father's family had been quite well-off in the past, not just ordinary city dwellers.

Twenty years ago, my grandparents took my uncle's family and my unmarried aunt abroad.

After that, there was no further news.

It wasn't until a few years ago, when Gao Chongyi suddenly received a mysterious letter without a return address, that he realized his family had returned.

Perhaps it was the separation of more than ten years, or perhaps it was the lingering resentment of his parents abandoning him back then, but Gao Chongyi did not reply to the letter, nor did he mention wanting to meet with his older brother and sister.

Huang Ying said with a laugh, "Back then, when I saw your dad's fair and tender appearance, I knew he was a rich young master who didn't have to do anything at home. I even made a bet with Huang Yanqiu's mother that your dad would cry on his first day of work."

Gao Qinghe asked excitedly, "Did you really cry?"

Huang Ying coughed awkwardly twice, and out of consideration for her husband's feelings, nodded and said, "No."

Gao Qinghe almost burst out laughing.

Huang Ying panicked: "What are you laughing at? Don't laugh!"

Gao Qinghe pursed her lips, trying to save face for her father.

"And then?" Gao Qinghe changed from lying down to prone, folding her hands under her body and tilting her head on her hands, indicating that she wanted to hear more.

"And then?" Huang Ying recalled seriously for a moment, a smile slowly spreading across her lips. "And then your mother tricked me into marrying him!"

Gao Qinghe: "And then what?"

"And so you were born."

Gao Qinghe: "And then what?"

"You had two children in three years, and your younger brother was born too."

"And then what happened?"

Your sister was born too.

The mother and daughter chatted about trivial things and slowly fell asleep.

In her dream, Gao Qinghe seemed to see her father when he was young, tall and handsome, wearing glasses, a rich young master from the city, squatting in the field where he could never finish weeding, his eyes red and silently sobbing.

Then her mother arrived, with two small braids, stood in front of the crying man, threw down the hoe on her shoulder, and carried the handsome man from the field back home.

Even in her dream, Gao Qinghe knew she was dreaming and couldn't help but burst into laughter.

As she laughed, the scene shifted, and she saw her white-haired parents sitting in front of their newly built house, squinting in the sun, with a chubby little baby sitting in their arms.

The little baby called out in a sweet, childish voice, "Mommy, I'm your baby!"

When Gao Qinghe woke up, she felt her face was wet.

She raised her hand to wipe it away, and was surprised to see that she was crying?

It seems like I had a dream, but I can't quite remember what happened.

Huang Ying was already up and packing her luggage.

Seeing her daughter lying blankly in bed with her eyes open, she asked with concern, "What did you dream about last night? You were laughing and crying at the same time, and I couldn't wake you up no matter how much I called you. It gave me quite a fright."

Gao Qinghe sat up, a little dazed, and said, "I dreamt that someone called me... Mom?"

Huang Ying chuckled, realizing that her words about having given birth to three siblings must have carried over into her dreams before she went to sleep last night.

Gao Qinghe looked down at her flat stomach.

Her mother received timely medical treatment, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, she should live a long life.

So, will her lost baby be able to come back to her?
