Chapter 78 Stealing Fish
Today's harvest was more than expected.

While selling the goods, Yun Jiao eagerly asked if she could keep some of the raw marinated items she wanted to eat.

The poor thing.

Shen Yunlian and the others immediately left behind some of the smaller ones.

Including those elephant trunk snails, today's total harvest has exceeded one hundred.

On my way back, I stopped by the new house to take a look. It's already half-built, and we'll be able to move into it soon.

"Jiaojiao fed them very well; they're all full."

Grandma Yun is very familiar with raising chickens; she can tell they're well-fed just by touching their sacs.

Yun Jiao fed two little rabbits with clean, fresh grass leaves.

"Grandma, they even helped me find several hairy clams."

"Wow, our Jiaojiao is really amazing. Nobody in our village keeps pets that can help with beachcombing."

Yun Jiao was proud of being praised.

That's not it.

"Yun Jiao, is Yun Jiao's grandma home?"

"exist!"

Yun Jiao responded to the door, put the two little rabbits back in their cage, and ran out.

"Grandma Liu, did Da Bai give birth to a baby?"

Grandma Liu smiled and said, "You guessed it! Da Bai gave birth to three babies."

"I'm going to have a look."

She immediately wanted to go to Grandma Liu's house.

"Okay, wait while I go ask your grandma for some sour soup to soak the pickled cabbage."

"it is good."

Yun Jiao waited obediently. After Granny Liu borrowed a ladle of sour soup, she followed behind her happily.

Grandma Yun: "Come back soon."

"understood."

When we arrived at Granny Liu's house, she pointed to the shed where firewood was piled up and said, "Go see for yourself."

Big White lived in that shed, his nest being a somewhat tattered basket filled with dry straw and old clothes.

Yun Jiao heard the puppy's tender whimpering before she even got close.

"Big White, I've come to see you and your baby."

When Big White saw her, he wasn't wary at all. Instead, he wagged his tail, stood up, and rubbed against her.

Yun Jiao squatted down to look at the three puppies.

One was white, one was black, and one was light black, like ink mixed with too much water, with all four claws being white.

It hadn't opened its eyes yet, its little ears were soft and floppy, its fur was soft and clinging to its body, its mouth was slightly rounded and light pink, and it was chubby like a large dumpling.

so cute!
She touched it with her finger, while Big White watched from the side.

"Once your baby opens its eyes and can eat, I'm going to take one away."

All three puppies are super cute, it's so hard to choose.

She squatted there and watched Big White breastfeed for a while before she had to leave.

They were reluctant to leave.

"Big White, take good care of them. I'll bring you food tomorrow."

Grandma Liu laughed heartily upon hearing this: "You're already so concerned about it even before you've taken it home!"

Yun Jiao argued logically: "Dabai works very hard raising puppies, so it needs to eat something good to produce enough milk to feed them."

"Hahaha... Xiao Yunjiao, you really know a lot."

Yun Jiao nodded. That's right, she's very smart, not some forgetful child.

Yun Jiao went back and excitedly told her brothers about the puppy.

Yun Xiaowu and the others said they also wanted to see the puppy, but Grandma Yun stopped them.

“These animals are very protective of their young after they have just given birth, so you might feel uneasy if you go near the Great White.”

"Then why is my sister allowed to go?"

"Dabai and Jiaojiao are good friends."

Okay, fine, if we don't want to go, we don't want to go. Anyway, we'll bring it home later.

It rained again tonight, and the wind was really strong.

We can't go out to sea again tomorrow.

Yun Jiao yawned, somewhat regretfully.

However, no one can control the weather.

That's how it is when you live by the sea; for about half the month, the weather is so bad that you can't go out to sea.

When encountering a major typhoon, the boats must be moored in the harbor, otherwise they are easily blown away.

Going to sea can earn more money than doing other things, but you can only go to sea for a limited time each month, so you can't make a lot of money.

Unless the sea transport is very good and you manage to catch something particularly valuable, you'll have to go back to beachcombing the next day.

And you have to get up very early.

There's plenty of cargo after a minor typhoon.

Yun Jiao yawned as she helped her mother get dressed.

"Let's go, let's go! If we're late, all the good stuff will be gone."

Shen Yunlian touched Yun Jiao's chubby little face.

"You're so sleepy, yet you still insist on coming along."

Yun Jiao muttered softly, "I want to go, I want to get a puppy."

She's the only one who keeps a furry merman on land—what a source of pride for any merman!
It's still dark.

You have to carry a flashlight when you go out.

There are only two flashlights at home, so we have to gather a bunch of them to find seafood.

Yun Jiao doesn't need it.

Their eyes darted around the mudflats after the tide receded.

They gradually became separated from the main force.

It was Yun Xiaowu who noticed she was missing in time and quickly called out.

"Here, Fifth Brother, I'm here."

Yun Xiaowu followed the sound and found her hunched over, catching something in a crevice in a rock.

"what?"

"A giant squid!"

Yun Xiaowu immediately rolled up his sleeves: "I'll do it!"

Soon the squid was pulled out of the diamond head.

It has a soft feel, but it's inkjet printing.

Yun Xiaowu's hands were sprayed black.

"so big!"

This squid weighs almost a pound.

A typical squid weighs about four or five ounces.

Yun Jiao: "Brother, there's more over there."

Yun Jiao pointed to a puddle not far away.

It's still dark, so you can't see it unless you look closely.

This is a normal-sized squid.

Yun Xiaowu reached out and grabbed in the direction she pointed.

"There are some here, and shrimp too."

They caught several squid today alone.

Yun Xiaowu grinned: "The wind blew up a lot of squid yesterday!"

Yun Jiao squatted in a small puddle, picking up shrimp.

They also found a coconut snail.

However, this coconut snail wasn't as big as the previous one, so it's unlikely that a Flame Pearl will be found inside.

In the blink of an eye, she spotted a big fish.

It was a blue-green fish with white spots on its body.

Western Star Spotted ...
This fish is quite valuable. Before Yun Jiao could run over, something darted away beside her like a gust of wind.

It's one person, no... more than one person.

"Mine, that's mine!"

In the blink of an eye, Yun Jiao saw two people rush towards the Western Star Spotted Fish and start fighting over it.

One of them, whom Yun Jiao recognized, was Cai Jinhua.

She also knew the other person; she was a widow in the village who was raising a son and had a very fierce temperament.

"Widow Song, let go! I clearly saw it first."

"Pah! I'd say I saw it myself, and I was the one who caught this Western Star Grouper first when I got here!"

"You're talking nonsense, I caught him first."

The two held onto the fish tightly, while using their other hands to pull each other's hair.

They even kicked each other while arguing.

Goodness, the commotion they made attracted the attention of other people on the mudflats.

They all ran over when they saw it was a Western Star Spot.

Cai Jinhua: "Get out of my way! This grouper is mine! Anyone who tries to take it will be my wrath!"

Widow Song slapped Cai Jinhua across the face: "You shameless thing, I was the one who caught this starfish first."
