Chapter 93: He's quite adept at ordering people around.

Chi Yige turned around and was met with the profile of Wen Jinnian sitting on the edge of the bed with her head down.

Fu Yiyi's gaze shifted between the two, then met Chi Yige's cold eyes. She hurriedly made a shushing gesture: "You two talk, I'll go downstairs to eat some fruit."

The words had barely left his mouth when he darted out the door.

Chi Yige walked slowly closer, squatted down in front of Wen Jinnian, and placed his palm on her cold calves: "Are you angry?"

Wen Jinnian's eyelashes trembled slightly, and when she looked up, there was still unease in her eyes: "I... I'm really not ready yet."

He chuckled softly, his long fingers threading through the stray hairs on her forehead, tucking a strand behind her ear: "Don't see him, listen to me. That old man is just afraid I'll stay single forever."

Wen Jinnian froze abruptly, her voice hoarse: "Do you think I'm being dramatic?"

Chi Yige smiled and nodded without any hesitation: "A little."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Wen Jinnian suddenly raised her hand and pushed him away.

Caught off guard, he slumped awkwardly onto the carpet, leaning back with one hand on the ground, his left knee bent and supporting him, but his gaze remained fixed on the person on the bed.

Wen Jinnian glared at him fiercely, her eyes reddening: "I'm just being dramatic, if you're so capable, then stay single forever!"

After saying that, she lowered her head and started scrolling through her phone, ignoring him.

Chi Yige suddenly chuckled softly, his chest vibrating with a muffled sound.

"Pretentious?"

He suddenly looked up, his gaze intense. "Wen's affectation is that it breaks down every willing effort I make, calculating and carefully keeping it all. I'm afraid that one day you'll take it too seriously and push me far away again."

Wen Jinian's finger paused on the phone screen.

Indeed, every bit of tenderness from him felt like a scorching hot iron, making her both greedy and fearful. She always wanted to repay him with all her might, yet she clearly had nothing to offer.

"Stop talking about this."

Chi Yige stood up abruptly. "Tonight is the day my aunt is finally free from suffering. Shall we invite her to have dinner together?"

Wen Jinnian was about to answer when she suddenly froze, looking up sharply: "What kind of deal did you make with him? What benefits did you give him?"

Chi Yige raised an eyebrow, his tone nonchalant: "It's just an exchange of interests between businessmen. My group has many projects, and the Jiang family just happens to be a qualified partner, so it's a piece of cake."

He spoke casually, but it made Wen Jinian clench the hem of her clothes tightly.

She knew all too well Jiang Xiao's greed; behind this "casual act" lay a price far exceeding the acceptable level.

At dinner, Wen Jinnian suppressed her doubts from the day and smiled.

Thanks to Fu Yiyi's witty banter, even the usually imposing Chi Yige changed into casual home clothes, shedding his superior aura and chatting with his elders like an ordinary junior.

As the group toasted and exchanged drinks, the atmosphere became increasingly harmonious.

As Wen Jin lowered her eyes to pick up some food, she caught a glimpse of Chi Yige skillfully peeling shrimp out of the corner of her eye.

He carefully placed the shrimp meat into Wen Jinnian's bowl, and subtly adjusted the position of the soup bowl next to her to prevent it from being spilled.

This thoughtful care warmed Wen Jin's heart, but also stirred a sense of unease within her.

Given Chi Yige's family background, will her future life in a wealthy family really be as smooth as it seems?
Take her, for example, and her final fate.

During casual conversation, she tentatively inquired about Chi Yige's family.

When I learned that there was no woman in his house, my heart finally settled down a little.

But then I thought, while it's good to be free from my mother-in-law's interference, how should I deal with those unseen family rules and the intricate web of interests?
She spun the wine glass in her palm, gazing at the group of people chatting and laughing across from her, a hint of worry creeping into her smile.

Who is Chi Yige?

With just one glance, he saw through the worry in Wen Jinian's eyes.

As they clinked glasses, his voice was low but each word carried immense weight: "Aunt, rest assured, none of your worries will come true."

Chi Yige put down his wine glass, his aura suddenly becoming icy. "My Chi family doesn't need to rely on marriage alliances to consolidate its foundation, and my father won't interfere in my marriage."

He paused, then his gaze softened and fell on Wen Jinian's face: "Niannian has been my obsession for many years. As long as she agrees, we can get our marriage certificate tomorrow."

As soon as he finished speaking, the restaurant fell silent. He continued, "All the properties and company shares under my name will be added to her name. There's no need for a prenuptial agreement. Everything I own belongs to her." These words struck Wen Jinnian like a hammer blow. The wine glass in her hand swayed violently, leaving winding streaks of red wine on the glass.

When I looked up, I saw the burning intensity in his eyes, a mixture of desperate madness, long-planned certainty, and a well-thought-out, irresistible promise.

Wen Jinian remained silent, but Wen Jin was extremely satisfied.

After dinner, Wen Jinnian accompanied Wen Jin for a stroll in the villa garden.

Wen Jin stopped at the end of the path.

"Niannian, that child truly loves you."

Her eyes relaxed. "I've signed up for a tour group tomorrow. I'm going to go out and relax with my old friends."

Wen Jinnian frowned slightly: "Aunt, are you really sure you can do it?"

"Silly girl, you can't expect me to stay here and overthink things, can you? We're all friends you know well, don't worry!"

Seeing her resolute tone, Wen Jinian nodded in acquiescence.

Going out for a walk is always better than being trapped in memories.

On the return journey, the moonlight poured down like a silver veil.

Wen Jinian walked slowly with her head down, her shadow stretched long and thin.

It wasn't until I took a deep breath and looked up that I saw the figure leaning against the wall in front of the villa.

Chi Yige held a cigarette between his fingers, and wisps of smoke rose, blurring the expression in his eyes.

But in that instant, Wen Jinian suddenly felt a lump in her throat.
It turns out that the feeling of being waited for can truly bring peace to a wandering heart.

She felt at home.

She jogged over and called out, "Dr. Chi."

The man deftly stubbed out his cigarette and tossed it into the ashtray.

The man deftly opened his arms and caught her steadily.

Wen Jinnian took the opportunity to wrap her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.

"What, have you suddenly turned back into a three-year-old baby?" Chi Yige raised an eyebrow and chuckled.

The person in his arms hugged him even tighter: "Carry me upstairs."

"They're quite adept at ordering people around."

Despite his teasing tone, he had already firmly supported her hips and legs, and turned to walk towards the stairs.

When the bathroom door was opened, steaming heat carrying a sweet citrus scent wafted out.

Chi Yige leaned against the sofa armrest, holding a laptop, and was talking fluently in French to the person on the other end of the screen.

When he caught sight of a pink figure, his movement of raising his eyes suddenly froze. His gaze swept over Wen Jinnian's damp hair and the towel loosely hanging on her shoulder, and his Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily.

He beckoned to her with his finger, and Wen Jinnian paused in her action of drying her hair with a towel. After hesitating for two seconds, she obediently moved to sit down next to him.

The next second, the towel was taken away, and Chi Yige rubbed her wet hair.

How do you multitask?

Wen Jinian stared at his focused profile.

Five minutes later the video call ended. He quickly closed his laptop, got up and grabbed a hairdryer.

The warm breeze carrying his scent brushed past her ear, his fingertips inadvertently grazing her reddened earlobe.

After her hair was dried, she was suddenly lifted up around the waist.

"You should go and rest." Wen Jinnian curled up and moved toward the edge of the bed, her heart pounding like a drum.
