Chapter 7 Wen, what a coincidence!
“We grew up together, and our families were originally planning to become a couple. I’ve been waiting for you all these years since you went abroad.”

The woman's voice was sweet and coquettish, with a hint of grievance.

Wen Jinnian couldn't help but lean closer to her ear and peek inside.

Chi Yige took a step back, tugged at her loose bathrobe, and water droplets slid down her cheek and disappeared into her clothes, making her look exceptionally sexy.

She unconsciously swallowed. The beauty was indeed alluring; no wonder so many people still went after him even though they knew he was no good.

When Wen Jinian looked up again, she saw the woman with her back to her, slowly reaching out her hand. Her trench coat slipped down to her black high heels and fell to the ground, revealing a red halter dress.

Even from just a glimpse of her back, one cannot deny that this woman possesses a stunning figure.

"Please have some self-respect." Chi Yige turned around with a dark face.

Just as the atmosphere was becoming increasingly ambiguous, the man's cold and indifferent voice rang out, shattering the romantic ambiance.

"Shen Yu, get out here right now!"

A creaking sound came from inside the room, and then the door opened.

Shen Yu scratched his head and said, "Hi."

As soon as she finished speaking, Shi Zhenxiang suddenly screamed "Ah!" and hurriedly squatted down, grabbing the trench coat on the ground and wrapping it around herself.

"Why...why is there someone else in your room?" Her voice trembled.

Shen Yu smiled and walked casually to the sofa, plopped down, and said teasingly, "Miss Shi, don't you know why I'm in this room?"

Shi Zhenxiang's gaze darted back and forth between Chi Yige and Shen Yu, her mouth opening and closing repeatedly. "You...you and him, you two actually..." She stomped her foot, her face turning pale with anger.

She looked at Chi Yige, who had turned away nonchalantly, with an incredulous expression. "How could you like a man? I'm going to tell my dad!"

After saying that, she turned and rushed towards the door.

Seeing this, Wen Jinnian quickly turned aside and hid on the other side of the corner.

Wen Jinian's mind was a jumbled mess, with Miss Shi's question, "Why do you like men?" echoing in her head.

Just as she was lost in thought, suddenly the light above her dimmed, and a tall figure enveloped her.

Wen Jinian subconsciously looked up and saw Chi Yige wrapped in a bathrobe, his hair still damp, water droplets sliding down his hair onto his strong chest.

He was staring at her with a half-smile, the corners of his mouth turned up. "What? Does Wen like eavesdropping so much?"

Wen Jinian was startled; she had been caught red-handed.

She had no choice but to pick up the bag in her hand and wave it in front of him, saying, "I didn't mean to, I just happened to be passing by."

"Wen, that's quite a coincidence."

Wen Jinian forced a laugh, her lips twitching unnaturally.

She turned to avoid the man's oppressive gaze and saw a hotel staff member knocking on the door of a room at the end of the corridor.

A woman's sharp, urgent voice rang out: "Is the food in your hotel unsafe?"

The staff quickly explained, "Ms. Fan, all the food in our hotel is strictly controlled, so you can eat it with complete peace of mind."

Fan Tong bent over, her expression indescribable, and said angrily, "I've only been here for less than half an hour, and I've already had a cup of your hangover soup, and I've already had diarrhea five times!"

No sooner had they finished speaking than the door to the next room slammed open, and another voice came out: "What did your hotel send me? I've had diarrhea for days, I feel terrible! Get me a doctor right now!"

Wen Jinian scoffed, and then Chi Yige's confident voice came from above: "You're the one who drugged them."

"Do you have any evidence?" Wen Jinian immediately became wary.

His gaze swept over her, a barely perceptible twitch at the corner of his mouth, and a suppressed laugh escaped from deep within his chest.

What a vengeful nature! He lowered his eyes and looked at the petite woman in front of him, who only reached his shoulder, with a leisurely air.

Her almond-shaped eyes were clear and bright, with distinct black and white, and slightly upturned corners. They possessed both the charm of a classical beauty and a touch of delicate fragility. Her eyes seemed to hold a thousand unspoken words, like shimmering autumn water. Her long, thick eyelashes added depth to her eyes, and when she smiled, her eyes curved into gentle, sweet smiles.

Exquisite, pure and beautiful.

He only said one sentence: "Girls, don't overthink things."

Wen Jinian secretly breathed a sigh of relief, recalling Fan Tong's underhanded actions at the bar. She didn't think she had done anything wrong. Fan Tong had clearly been up to no good by holding the problematic liquor.

At the same time, as soon as Jiang Shu and Zhou Shiyi entered the room, Jiang Shu's expression instantly turned cold, and his eyes were full of disgust.

He suddenly grabbed Zhou Shiyi's chin and demanded, "Who gave your friend permission to bully Nian Nian?"

Jiang Shu frowned, irritably loosened his tie, and sneered, "You think you can hide what happened back then from me? You caused Nian Nian to go abroad, and I haven't settled that score with you yet!"

"So you knew all along." Zhou Shiyi's pupils widened slightly, her face filled with disbelief.

"I can give you the position of Mrs. Jiang, but don't even think about anything else."

After Jiang Shu finished speaking, he took off his coat and went into the bathroom.

Zhou Shiyi stared intently at the bathroom, listening to the soft patter of the shower coming from inside, a fierce glint flashing in her eyes.

In the bathroom, after taking a shower, Jiang Shu walked to the counter and picked up her phone.

Recalling Wen Jinnian's attitude at the engagement banquet today, he unconsciously dialed the phone.

Wen Jinnian returned to her room and was just about to lie down on the bed when she saw a call from Jiang Shu.

She hesitated for a moment, then finally answered, "Brother, why aren't you asleep yet?"

"Niannian, are you still blaming me? Zhou Shiyi and I are just in a business marriage. Trust me, once I'm firmly in the position of CEO, I'll end this marriage."

Jiang Shu's voice carried a hint of urgency.

Wen Jinnian looked up at the neon signs flashing and dancing outside the floor-to-ceiling window. The light and shadows shone through the window and splashed colorfully into the hotel room, and the carpet was also dyed with the unique colors of Victoria Harbour.

Even so, she still felt a bone-chilling cold in the room. She got up and turned on all the bedside lamps, instantly filling the room with warm yellow light.

Under the soft light, her thoughts drifted back to the time she spent with Jiang Shu when she was a child.

Just before today, she thought her obsession with Jiang Shu would last a lifetime, but now that he has someone else by his side, there is no longer a place for her. Just like the lights of Victoria Harbour, no matter how dazzling, they will eventually be swallowed by the night.

"Brother, you don't need to explain to me. Happy wedding." Wen Jinian said in a calm tone.

She heard a knock on the door from the other end of the phone.

Wen Jinnian said, "Brother, I'm sleepy and want to go to sleep," and then hung up the phone.

Jiang Shu was taken aback when he heard the dial tone coming from the microphone.

Wen Jinian never hangs up on him first; this is the first time she has done so.

He subconsciously looked at himself in the mirror, his expression full of confusion.

Just then, there was another knock on the bathroom door.
