Chapter 10 You're supporting the entire dorm all by yourself!
Jiang Shu swallowed back the words he hadn't said.
He casually picked up the phone on the table and handed it to Wen Jinian.
"Guess who I am?" The voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Yiyi".
"This is so boring, I guessed it right away," Fu Yiyi pouted on the other end of the phone.
"I'm back in China, and I convinced my brother and dad to let me open a studio! I remember you also studied fine arts abroad, do you want to come with me?"
Wen Jinnian: "..."
Just when you're feeling sleepy, someone brings you a pillow.
Then Fu Yiyi launched into a long, rambling explanation about her art training room.
Wen Jinnian and Fu Yiyi were classmates in junior high and high school, but Fu Yiyi went abroad in her second year of high school. They kept in touch through WhatsApp.
Fu Yiyi chatted with Wen Jinnian for a few more minutes, and then invited her to the Peninsula Hotel for a detailed discussion, which Wen Jinnian accepted.
She turned off her phone screen, looked at Jiang Shu beside her, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Brother, can I borrow your car for a bit?"
By this time, Jiang Shu had calmed down, and the concern in his eyes when he looked at Wen Jinnian had returned. "My car keys are all downstairs in the entryway. You can pick whichever you like."
"Thank you, brother."
Jiang Shu noticed a certain distance in her voice, but assumed it was because they hadn't seen each other for several years and were a little estranged. She didn't think much of it, stood up, and gave her some instructions.
“Your friend is opening an art studio, you’d better do your research carefully and ask him about many things.”
Wen Jinian nodded, "I know."
Wen Jinnian turned her head and looked out the French windows at the blue sky and white clouds outside the villa. A smile appeared on her lips. The weather was pretty good today.
She went into the dressing room, picked out a simple, thin dress, and paired it with a thin cardigan of the same material.
She stuffed her tablet and other belongings into her Fantawild bag, a bag from a niche brand, zipped it up, and hurried downstairs.
Wen Jinnian greeted her aunt Wen Jin, and then went to the entrance hall and bent down to change into sneakers.
As I got up, I immediately saw the key hanging in the entryway.
She hesitated for a moment, then took the keys to the Mercedes and went out.
The Peninsula Hotel is located at 22 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Tsim Mong District, Hong Kong.
Wen Jinnian drove from Kowloon Tong, and the journey was relatively smooth. It took her exactly twenty minutes to arrive.
She got out of the car, handed the keys to the doorman, and walked lightly on the Douglas tiles, making a crisp and rhythmic sound.
The moment you step into the Peninsula Hotel, you are greeted by an atmosphere of luxury and elegance.
The magnificent lobby, high ceilings, vintage crystal chandeliers, and live music create an atmosphere of elegance and luxury in every detail.
As soon as Wen Jinnian stepped into the lobby tea area, her gaze was drawn to the girl sitting by the window.
A woman in a Chanel suit is waving enthusiastically at her, the pearl accessories at her neckline gleaming warmly under the light, exuding understated luxury.
Wen Jinnian smiled and walked gracefully toward the woman.
At the same time, the woman got up and hurried over. Before she even reached her, her familiar and eager voice rang out: "My Niannian, you've finally come! Hurry!"
As soon as she finished speaking, the woman came to Wen Jinnian's side and pulled her into her arms.
"Niannian, you smell so good, the more I smell you, the more I like you."
The woman released her embrace, and then, as if she had discovered a treasure, she carefully examined Wen Jinnian from top to bottom.
She muttered to herself, "I never expected that after so many years, my daughter Niannian has grown into such a beautiful young woman. I almost didn't recognize her."
"Alright, alright, stop trying to fool me! You're the one who's naturally beautiful and hasn't changed at all over the years!"
Wen Jinian was happy to see her old classmate, and her whole demeanor brightened up.
As the two sat down, she saw on the three-tiered silver tray on the table were exquisite and delicious desserts and savory snacks.
After Fu Yiyi called the waiter over, she ordered two cups of Darjeeling tea and then turned to ask Wen Jinnian, "Would you like to drink Earl Grey tea instead?" Wen Jinnian nodded.
After the waiter left, Wen Jinnian asked, "You ordered one more thing. Are other friends coming?"
Fu Yiyi leaned forward, a shy blush rising on her cheeks, her eyes brimming with undisguised sweetness.
A smile played on her lips, her voice as soft as honey: "You know Niannian too."
Seeing her lovestruck expression, Wen Jinian already knew the answer in her heart. She tentatively asked, "Is it still the same one as before?"
She saw Fu Yiyi lower her eyes and nod slightly, her hair brushing against her flushed cheeks. Indeed, Fu Yiyi was the kind of person who was bright and beautiful.
Just thinking about the man she liked made Wen Jin Nian frown slightly.
The two ate dessert and chatted for about ten minutes when a sound of footsteps approached from afar.
Looking up, I saw a figure dressed casually walking slowly towards me, wearing a light gray sweatshirt and dark blue jeans, simple yet relaxed.
He wore thin-rimmed glasses on his nose, his gaze behind the lenses was gentle and warm, and a faint smile played at the corners of his mouth. He exuded a refined and elegant air.
Wen Jinnian couldn't help but admire Fu Yiyi's excellent taste.
"Beisen, you're here," Fu Yiyi greeted with a smile.
Jiang Beisen nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping over Wen Jinnian sitting opposite him, and he raised his hand to push up his glasses.
"this……"
"I am Yiyi, Wen Jinian."
Wen Jinnian added on her own initiative.
After they sat down, Fu Yiyi pushed the plate in front of him: "Eat something first."
As he spoke, he pulled out two bulging shopping bags from under the table and handed them over.
Jiang Beisen responded naturally.
Wen Jinnian took a sip of classic Earl Grey tea with a lemon slice, finding it refreshing and not too greasy. The moment she looked up, she saw Jiang Beisen lightly pressing his index finger against the inside of his glasses frame and slowly pushing it up. His movements were somewhat restrained, and his gaze behind the lenses seemed to dart away at the items in the shopping bag.
"Thank you, but Yiyi, I just graduated and I'm still sharing an apartment with my roommates. Can I share these with them?"
Wen Jinnian turned her head sharply to look at Jiang Beisen. Before she could recover from the shock, she heard Fu Yiyi's cheerful voice reply, "Sure, I have plenty more in my car. I'll get them for you later!"
Wen Jinnian looked at the two of them and sighed inwardly. Sure enough, people in love see things through a filter.
As soon as Jiang Beisen got up and walked towards the bathroom, Wen Jinnian lowered her voice and asked Fu Yiyi, "In the past few years, whenever you buy a gift, does he always ask you to buy more for your roommates?"
Fu Yiyi tilted her head and thought for a moment, then nodded and said, "I think so. It didn't cost much. He wanted to share it with his friends, so I just bought a few extra."
Wen Jinnian was both amused and exasperated: "You're supporting the entire dorm all by yourself!"
Fu Yiyi raised an eyebrow, her face full of smugness: "Who told me to be so rich? I don't care about a little bit!"
Wen Jin thought: "..." Sure enough, money is king.
She paused for a moment, then looked at Fu Yiyi's face: "Are you two dating now?"
Fu Yiyi lowered her eyes and twirled the teaspoon in her hand, but her voice was unwavering: "I confessed to him when we were abroad, but he rejected me. He said I was a good person, he didn't want to hurt me, and that we wouldn't lose each other if we remained friends."
"And what about you?" she pressed.
Fu Yiyi looked up, her eyes sparkling: "Of course I like him, and I will continue to pursue him."
Wen Jinnian frowned slightly: "So he accepted these things from you without any qualms?"
Fu Yiyi was not angry upon hearing this. Since they were classmates in school, she and Wen Jinian had been close friends who could talk about anything.
She rested her chin on her elbow on the table, stared at Wen Jinnian for a moment, and then said, "I hadn't thought of it that way. Thanks, Niannian. I'll think about it when I get back."
She was about to say something more when she suddenly coughed twice and gestured towards Wen Jinnian's back.
Wen Jinnian turned around and saw several familiar figures walking towards them.
