Chapter 29: Stench
"Not here either."

Wang Liang dusted off his hands and prepared to walk outside.

But when his foot stepped on a tile that had just been moved by the wardrobe, the dull thud of his foot hitting the ground made Wang Liang stop in his tracks.

The tiles on this floor looked exactly the same as the surrounding tiles, fitting together perfectly, which is why Wang Liang hadn't noticed anything unusual before.

But the sound of his footsteps told Wang Liang that there was nothing underneath!
Wang Liang infused his legs with Sadako's supernatural power, giving them a chilling aura and granting him superhuman strength. He then stomped hard on the tile.

With a crash, the tile beneath his feet shattered and collapsed, revealing a passage leading underground.

"Damn it, why do they all like digging tunnels?"

The passage wasn't deep, only a little over two meters before it reached the bottom, where there was more space connecting to a small basement.

"Who is this family? They keep doing all sorts of messy things. This is illegal construction."

The stench around him made Wang Liang want to end this torturous paranormal event quickly. While complaining, he took a one-inch photo out of his pocket and threw it on the ground outside. Then he turned on his phone's flashlight and jumped directly into the passage.

The underground space is several tens of square meters, surrounded by mud bricks. Against the wall are some old clothes, books and other miscellaneous items, as well as a few wooden tables and chairs with some small items on them.

Besides the passageway above Wang Liang's head, several beams of light shone in from the ceiling in front.

It is likely that the demolition of houses during construction cracked the brick and earthen walls that enclosed this place, making this underground space no longer completely isolated from the outside world.

The sound of the wind chimes that just came from the front was coming from there.

Wang Liang walked to a wooden table in front of him. On the table was a wooden frame with a rusty bell hanging on it.

There were still some broken bricks and scattered dirt on the table. Looking up, the top was no longer intact, with several finger-width cracks. Through the half-covered dirt, one could barely see part of the excavator in front of the half-destroyed house.

Light shines in from outside, and the occasional gentle breeze is also helpful.

Wang Liang picked up a wind chime hanging on the wooden frame. It was an old-fashioned style with some indelible rust stains.

Jingle bell bell~
With just a slight shake as he removed the wind chime from its wooden frame, the chime in his hand emitted a clear and melodious sound.

Holding it in his hand, Wang Liang's expression suddenly turned serious, because this was no ordinary wind chime.

As a demon tamer, he had a special feeling when he approached the rusty bell.

Upon touching it, one can feel the strange chill emanating from this rusty wind chime.

This is a supernatural item, but it is not a supernatural remnant or a curse.
This is probably a supernatural item created by a vengeful ghost!
However, for some reason, supernatural items, even those made by vengeful ghosts, do not provide any eerie value to the system.

His second round of weirdness level briefly increased by 2% after he was attacked by the wishing ghost.

Now, after touching this rusty wind chime, the numerical value hasn't changed; it's still 2%.

"Is this the source? No, although it is a supernatural object and there is a foul stench around it, the stench is not coming from this object."

thump.

Just then, the sound of a heavy object falling to the ground rang out behind him. Wang Liang gripped the wind chime tightly and turned around abruptly.

A man dressed in dirty, tattered clothes, emaciated and emitting an unbearable stench, fell down from the passage Wang Liang had just come down from, lying face down on the ground with his limbs bent abnormally.

As Wang Liang turned around, the foul-smelling man awkwardly and stiffly braced himself to his feet, looking directly at Wang Liang. Upon noticing those lifeless, emotionless eyes, Wang Liang knew that the foul-smelling man in front of him was not alive.

No living person could have such eyes; this is the vengeful ghost that appeared in Xiaolan Village, the source of this supernatural event.

But why did he come looking for us now? Did he trigger this vengeful ghost's killing pattern? Why didn't he appear earlier? Or...?
Wang Liang glanced down at the rusty wind chime in his hand, then looked up at the foul-smelling ghost.

jingle.

Wang Liang kept his gaze fixed ahead, but his hand, placed at his side, gently shook the rusty wind chime.

Despite its rusty exterior, the sound it emitted carried a strange, ethereal quality that sent chills down one's spine.

As soon as the bell rang, the foul-smelling ghost on the other side swayed, and its body immediately emitted an even stronger stench that spread throughout the basement.

The stench was so overwhelming that it almost made it hard to open one's eyes.

The wooden tables and chairs near the stenching ghost turned yellow and withered at a visible speed, with wood chips constantly falling off, before finally collapsing to the ground, unable to support themselves any longer.

"As expected, the effect is to attract vengeful ghosts, similar to the effect of the white ghost candle."

A foul stench swept over, and Wang Liang's skin instantly turned sallow, with dry, dead skin constantly appearing on it—and this was before the stinking ghost had fully gotten close.

Going a step further, it might mean the depletion of flesh and blood, decay, and death.

"You've been imprisoned."

After figuring out the situation, Wang Liang narrowed his eyes, emanating a bone-chilling coldness that clashed with the foul-smelling ghost, causing the surrounding temperature to drop considerably.

Tick.

A drop of black, viscous liquid dripped from the basement ceiling, landing on the ground in front of the stinking ghost, making a sizzling sound as if it were corroding the ground.

It was black blood, thick and with a bloody smell, but in such a foul environment, the smell of a single drop of blood was not so inconspicuous.

But soon, another drop of black blood fell, landing on the filthy ghost's shoulder.

The dirty, tattered clothes were corroded and penetrated, and black blood droplets sizzled as they came into contact with the stiff flesh.

Then, as if a chain reaction had started, drops of black blood fell from the ceiling, like a black drizzle falling in the basement.

zizi~
The stench was diluted by the bloody smell of black blood.

The foul-smelling ghost moved its feet, swaying and advancing towards Wang Liang's position.

However, the black blood dripping from the ceiling kept hitting its body, making a series of hissing sounds as it was corroded, and its steps became slower and slower.

By the time the filthy ghost was two meters in front of Wang Liang, the black blood dripping from the basement ceiling had already pooled into a large puddle at its feet.

The foul-smelling ghost's feet sank into the thick, black ghost blood, as if they were stuck, and black ghost blood kept flowing down its body.

Finally, the vengeful ghost stopped moving and stood still in place, its stench largely dissipated by then.

Suppression successful.
