Chapter 65 Join Me, Young Man
Chapter 65 Join Me, Young Man
"That means... the nuclear bomb disappeared?"
"What ability is this?"
The three Wolverines stared at the sky in shock. Just seconds before, they had been frantic, thinking the world was on the verge of destruction, but what seemed like an insurmountable crisis had been resolved with ease.
The three nuclear bombs that had just been launched—humanity's most powerful and terrifying weapons—were transformed into three harmless ribbons that drifted down with a wave of the mysterious young man's hand.
"Interesting. Who are you, child?"
Magneto paused for a moment, letting a ribbon fall through the magnetic field and land in his palm.
It has a slightly cool, hard texture, with some paper-like burrs on the edges. In terms of weight, touch, and texture, it feels like a real ribbon.
Of course, with the mind-protection helmet on his head, even the most powerful psychic on this planet couldn't affect his mind.
Magneto wanted to determine if this was some kind of physical illusion caused by a distorted spectrum, since he could do similar things.
"Your ability to modify matter is limitless, almost godlike!"
"But you dare—" Despite his admiration, Magneto felt as if he were seeing a child who had gone astray and committed a grave mistake. He gripped the ribbon tightly, his voice trembling with anger, "You ruined my plan! Those missiles could have ended the oppression of mutants by humans once and for all!"
"You can call me Infinite Man, Magneto."
Russell stood in mid-air, arms crossed, talking to Magneto.
Your approach is too extreme!
If a world war breaks out, it won't just be ordinary people who suffer; mutants will also suffer from the ravages of war. And if this were to be exposed today, mutants would be universally condemned.
He glanced at the three Wolverines who had been knocked down and subdued, and then looked at Magneto, who was only middle-aged. He had a pretty good idea of what era the X-Men were in.
“The young man is right, Eric.”
Laser Eyes' expression suddenly changed, becoming solemn and compassionate, like a saint who had experienced the vicissitudes of time.
Violence only begets violence, and harm only begets more harm!
He glanced at Russell in the sky with a gentle and approving look.
Professor X is unable to communicate directly with Magneto and has to communicate with him through the bodies of his students. At the same time, the appearance of Russell makes him feel that he needs to show himself.
'A young mutant with immense potential!'
This Infinite Man seems to have a global perspective and a long-term vision, and he hasn't gone astray because of his powerful abilities. Professor X thinks he's a rare fresh blood and might try to bring him into the X-Men.
"Charles?"
I've heard that kind of talk far too many times.
The tone of Cyclops, which seemed completely unfamiliar, suddenly changed. Magneto laughed loudly, the laughter reverberating throughout the entire base and causing the metal to resonate.
"Violence? It is violence that keeps them from acting rashly! It is violence that protects our compatriots! Do you think peaceful protests can earn respect?"
Look at human history; rights have always been fought for, earned through struggle, not begged for!
“Look around, Eric,” Professor X said earnestly, pointing to the wreckage of tanks and fighter jets destroyed by Magneto. “This destruction will only make humanity more afraid of us. Your actions and those of your Brotherhood of Mutants are not the solution!”
"Shut up, Charles."
Magneto waved his hand, and a piece of sheet metal flew up, binding Cyclops' mouth.
Do you think that your path of weakness is the right one?
Don't try to lecture me; I don't want to listen, and some young people are even less willing to listen.
He realized that some of Charles's words were not meant for him, but for that young man in heaven.
“Young man.” Magneto raised his hand, and all the metal objects in the control room began to tremble. “Since you dared to ruin my plans, let me see just how capable you are!”
His gaze seemed to hold a testing quality.
The entire missile silo and military base seemed to be shaking.
Boom! The silo cover, weighing tens of tons, suddenly tore apart and shot through the air like a cannonball toward Russell.
A flash of red light appeared in Russell's eyes, and two blazing beams of light shot out from his pupils, melting all the incoming metal into molten iron.
"Heat vision?" Magneto raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you have some other abilities?"
As an Omega-level mutant, Magneto has unlimited potential. Not only is his template worth collecting, but the mind-protection helmet he wears is also unique and rare.
He wanted to at least touch it, to use his ability to control molecules to mold one for himself.
Whoosh!
Russell instantly broke the sound barrier and accelerated, diving towards Magneto.
Bang!
The immense force sent Magneto, caught off guard, flying backward along with his spherical electromagnetic shield, embedding him deep into the ground.
Magneto is like a stone thrown into the water, creating waves, cracking and breaking the concrete, and sending mud flying like waves.
"You're fast and strong, you're surprising me more and more, it seems like you have no weaknesses?"
Magneto was somewhat surprised and controlled the spherical force field to fly up again.
The entire steel structure of the military base began to collapse, and the huge steel beams coiled around Russell like giant pythons, accelerating at a speed as fast as thunder under the powerful electromagnetic field.
Russell dodged a few steel beams, but more metal surged in from all directions, instantly forming a huge, airtight cage.
“Child, I can give you a chance.” Magneto’s voice came from outside the metal cage. “Join me. You are young and full of potential, just like your name.”
I admit you deserve this title. We can build a world of mutants together. With your abilities, you could be the Brotherhood's second-in-command.
The darkness did not affect his vision at all. Russell waved his hand, and a deep blue light burst forth, opening a door in the huge cage.
Hard steel transformed into delicate petals that drifted through the air.
The restrictions that Magneto viewed as cages would cease to exist with a single step.
"You really can transform matter, even life!" Magneto's pupils contracted.
Russell had already speculated when he obtained the Atom Woman Eve template that the only reason Eve couldn't modify life forms was due to mental limitations, and that he should be unaffected by those limitations.
After several awkward attempts, I found that it was indeed true.
Magneto's admiration deepened: "Impressive, but let's see if you can still switch when all the metal in the base comes at you."
The earth began to shake.
Within a radius of several miles, all metal objects—from soldiers' belt buckles to the steel structure of underground bunkers—broke free and converged into the sky like a tidal wave.
Tank wreckage, fighter jet fragments, and shells from the ammunition depot were all manipulated by Magneto's magnetic force, forming a giant metallic vortex in the air.
A massive shadow fell, obscuring the sky and plunging the entire military base into darkness. Wolverine and his companions looked up in utter astonishment.
All they knew was that Magneto was Professor X's old friend, and that Professor X had told them about their past. They had even had a few encounters with Magneto.
Magneto had never displayed such power, so close to that of a god.
"So he's been going easy on us mutants all this time?" Cyclops and Storm exchanged a surprised glance.
"Perhaps it's because we're not powerful enough to make him use such power."
Wolverine's face turned grim.
He was unusually annoyed by his adamantium skeleton.
Whether Magneto forgot or to save face for him, he did not fly into the sky along with the other metals.
"Are you going to kill me, Magneto?"
A steel vortex covered the sky, an attack that could destroy a town in the blink of an eye was brewing, held back but not released. Russell chuckled, as if there was only a gentle breeze overhead.
