Chapter 38 Russell, what’s the matter?
Chapter 38 Russell, what’s the matter?
Sometimes a deliberately lie does not hurt people, but the truth told as a first reaction is the sharpest knife.
“…” Mark was so upset, veins on his forehead bulged, and he glanced at his cousin Russell next to him.
I've embarrassed myself so much that I've decided to go back and train hard to surpass my cousin and prove that I'm worthy of this title.
Russell, who was praised in disguise, had a calm expression.
"No more talking. If I'm not fired this time, I'll come see you again when I have time!"
Allen waved his hand and flew quickly into the distant universe, muttering the last sentence as he left.
"The Alliance will definitely be interested. Earth... is truly an amazing planet, having spawned several warriors whose power approaches that of the Vitrum."
Russell watched Allen's back quickly turn into a meteor in the distant universe and disappear.
The naive Allen didn't know that two of the three people he met were Vitrum people, and he was the only one who did not have Vitrum blood.
[Abilities: Flight, Super Strength, Super Speed, Super Endurance, Regeneration and Healing, Breaking the Limits of Death...]
"I have collected the Allen template. I can try to see if the template power can be increased again after copying it."
As for how to bring yourself to a near-death state when even a small nuclear bomb can't hurt you, that's not a problem, but the process might be a bit painful.
Thinking of this, Russell felt a pang of pain in his teeth. He glanced at the huge star hanging in the distant void and flew back to Earth with Mark. Cecil and his family were still waiting for a reply.
It just so happens that Cecil is here today, so I don’t need to go there specially!
"I have told you all I remember.
It’s the same even if you ask me to say it again.”
"I received a distress call from the guards. When I arrived, everything was normal. Suddenly, I don't know if it was magic or something else, but everything went dark before my eyes. Someone attacked me. I fought with them until I was seriously injured and fell to the ground, unable to get up..."
After a trip to space to overlook the earth and making an alien friend, Mark and his cousin Russell returned home curious and excited. They couldn't wait to share it all with their mother Debbie, but when they got home they saw their father Nolan and Cecil arguing.
Mother Debbie stood by in surprise and confusion.
Faced with being asked again about what happened that day, the almighty Nolan looked faintly impatient.
"Really? The one who could beat you like that must be a strong opponent. I've never seen you lose so miserably." Cecil frowned, his face looking a little ugly, and he was obviously very dissatisfied with the answer.
"Thank you so much for this, Russell, Mark."
He said no more, said something hurriedly to Russell and Mark, and left.
"Why did Cecil leave? We haven't even explained how we got rid of the alien." Mark was confused.
Before Cecil came, the situation seemed extremely urgent, but now he doesn't even ask a question.
"A satellite near the Earth's orbit captured the entire process of you successfully driving away the alien." Debbie explained to Cecil.
"So that's it."
Mark nodded without thinking much about it, but just said to Cecil hastily that he was leaving while muttering a little.
"This was a space mission that took us beyond Earth. My cousin and I completed it beautifully. My cousin, in particular, fought a fierce battle with that alien. Even if he doesn't receive a medal, doesn't he deserve a few words of praise?"
“Okay, stop complaining.
You didn't become a superhero just for the praise and approval of others, did you? " Russell patted Mark on the shoulder.
"Of course."
Mark patted his chest.
His cousin, the main force, had no objections, so he certainly wouldn't have any. "After hearing the Almighty Man's explanation, Cecil must be feeling incredibly upset and overwhelmed with worry. It's understandable that he doesn't feel like saying anything more."
Outside the door, Cecil stepped on the accelerator and drove away. Russell's eyes moved.
Uncle Nolan's explanation was full of loopholes. Even Aunt Debbie, who had always had a filter for her husband, was stunned when she heard it. She instinctively felt that something was wrong. How could she convince others?
The Almighty Man had a sullen face and seemed to be in a bad mood. He praised Russell and Mark briefly.
Aunt Debbie, who was always gentle, joked that they should go upstairs to rest, and that she would prepare a delicious meal at noon to reward the two hard-working Earth heroes.
Going upstairs to the bedroom, Russell closed the door and walked towards the window.
"With Uncle Nolan's abilities, if he wanted to leave, even if he couldn't see anything, he could easily smash his head against a mountain wall and escape thousands of miles in the blink of an eye. How could he, when the situation was clearly unfavorable, stay in that small space in the Global Guard Hall and be beaten until he collapsed?"
His perfunctory and hasty answer undoubtedly increased Cecil's suspicion of him, and Cecil probably couldn't help feeling anxious, angry and worried.
If it was really done by the Omnipotent Man, he would have killed the Global Guard, with whom he had fought many times, as if he were killing a group of ants who deserved to die at his hands, and he would not bother to come up with a better explanation.
How could one not be deeply disturbed by his indifference and perfunctory attitude?
This proves that the Almighty Man probably doesn't intend to hide and disguise himself for the rest of his life and let this matter go!
The death of Global Guard is likely just the beginning!
Raising the window, Russell flew out silently and caught up with Cecil's car.
"Russell, what's going on?"
Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of them. Russell's cloak fluttered as he hovered in the air, blocking the way in front of the vehicle. Cecil turned the steering wheel to the left and stopped on the side of the road.
As the director of the Global Defense Agency, Cecil has a teleportation device implanted in his body. It costs a lot to use each time, so he usually doesn't use it. He usually travels by car.
"There's something I want to tell you, Chief Cessel."
"what's up?"
Facing Russell, who would have to be recruited to serve as the main force against the Almighty Man in the future, Cecil remained patient even though he was worried and upset at the moment. He got out of the car, closed the door and asked.
"I discovered that my uncle, the Omnipotent Man..."
Russell put his arm around his shoulders, as if he wanted to speak in a low voice, afraid that someone might overhear him. Cecil was a little uncomfortable with the way this kid acted as if he were his peer.
The next second, a powerful mental force invaded and instantly captured his consciousness.
Cecil's car must have been equipped with a recorder, and there might be a camera nearby.
Despite controlling Cecil's consciousness and modifying his memory, Russell and he pretended to just communicate about something that was not right with Omni-Man, leaving no suspicious signs.
He also made Cecil act as if he had never controlled him, as if he was still the director of the Earth Defense Agency who prioritized the safety of the Earth.
The two men exchanged a few words. In keeping with his usual style, Cecil would not easily reveal anything. He smiled and reassured the young man Russell not to think too much, patted him on the shoulder and left.
Watching the car go away, Russell relaxed a little.
“Earth’s combined forces are not enough to deal with any Vitrum person, but with Cecil, the Director of the Global Defense Agency, providing cover, at least I can be less restricted.
At the same time, I can help out.”
Just through physical contact, he transmitted a memory - about the weaknesses of the Vitrum people.
