Chapter 85 Dansheng
Want to know why gluttony makes elixirs?

All they want is - immortality.

All the schools of supernatural beings in the world will emphasize one key point when teaching their disciples basic knowledge - when the innate qi dissipates, people will die.

How long is a man's life? It passes like morning frost. Time never comes again, and the sun never shines again.

Perhaps, the masters of these sects said these words only to encourage their disciples to cherish time and make progress in their practice.

However, just as flowers bloom in a million different ways, so do people. Everyone understands words differently, and there will always be some who misunderstand the key points of the words.

Gluttony was one such person. He desired immortality more than he practiced the Dharma. This drive for immortality made him so diligent in his practice.

But some things cannot be achieved by just hard work.

No matter how he deceived himself with gluttony, his Qi stopped increasing after he entered middle age and instead began to slowly decrease.

No matter how focused and dedicated he was to cultivating his life, he was slowly moving towards death.

He thought he could live to be in his seventies or eighties? Or maybe even a centenarian?

For many people, the age when they are content is unacceptable for overeating.

So, he finally gave up the useless struggle and truly began his fanatical pursuit of immortality.

But after a long time, he still got nothing and saw no hope of immortality.

Xuanmen, Buddhism, the West, evil sects...

He has participated in countless organizations and met countless geniuses, but he has never seen anyone who can truly achieve immortality.

Until one day, when he was already old, he realized a new truth through books and combined it with reality - longevity can actually rely on "external things".

……

In the past, practitioners compared the heart and lungs to monkeys, which control the human mind and represent yang.

The liver and kidneys are compared to pigs, which control the seven emotions and six desires and are yin.

The spleen and stomach are called "Sha Monk" and they harmonize yin and yang.

The monkey, pig and monk are also known as the Golden Man, the Wooden Mother and the Yellow Woman, corresponding to lead, mercury and cinnabar. The one who controls these three elements of alchemy is called the Tripitaka.

Looks familiar, doesn't it?
The settings and names of the main characters in the famous "Journey to the West" seem to be created in accordance with the knowledge of cultivation.

In that story, the 81 difficulties encountered by Tang Monk and his disciples can basically correspond to the hardships encountered on the path of cultivation.

This method of "metaphor" and "personification" has led many people to believe that "Journey to the West" is just a collection of knowledge that uses vivid and interesting stories to describe the difficulties on the path of spiritual practice.

But, is this wonderful book really just [knowledge] and [stories]?

Gluttony doesn't think so, it regards "Journey to the West" as a "documentary".

After all, there really was a "Tripitaka" in the ancient Tang Dynasty, so who can say that the monkey, pig, and monk Sand are not real?
After many years of careful study, Gluttony finally came to a different understanding.

In "Journey to the West", monsters want to eat people, and gods who come down to earth also want to eat people.

Sha Seng eats people, Jinjiao and Yinjiao also eat people, Shituoling eats people, Kuimu Wolf eats people, and Shouxinggong’s mount also eats people.

Why do people eat humans? What's so delicious about humans?

This question tempted him until he ate a human being for the first time, a living human being.

After that, he understood...

Why can humans be called the spirit of all things?

...I've almost forgotten what it felt like the first time I binged.

It only remembered that the meat was a little fishy and tasted hard to swallow.

However, when the meat is digested in the stomach, the Qi circulates many times faster.

Although it was evil, just one bite was enough to offset his hard work and diligence in practicing for several days, and even the remaining innate Qi in the flesh was absorbed into his body.

It finally understood why the demons and gods in Journey to the West had to eat humans.

Nothing more than eating humans can prolong life...

Now that the method of immortality has been found, Gluttony, as a pursuer of immortality, naturally wants to try it, but it discovers problems in the process.

If you simply want to improve your spiritual cultivation and magical powers, just eat a piece of human flesh.

But if you want true immortality, the situation is different.

As the saying goes, no one is perfect, and everyone has flaws in this mortal world.

The innate Qi that is "eaten" into the stomach through unconventional means will eventually dissipate over time.

Even if it eats people day and night, it is still the same. After all, it is not Tang Monk's flesh, and it cannot achieve true immortality.

Finally, after traveling for decades, joining countless evil organizations, and witnessing all kinds of magical methods, it finally came up with a theory and compiled a recipe for elixir.

It uses the alchemy furnace to "optimize" the useless flesh and blood in the human body, leaving only the innate Qi. Then, supplemented with "human talents and earthly treasures", it creates a cycle of life and death in the abdomen, and finally forms an elixir.

After getting the recipe for the elixir, it spent another five or six years to find the mysterious energy center under the mountains in Myanmar. Relying on the extremely abundant energy there, it activated two underground rivers and began to make the elixir.

It has no artistic talent for naming things, and simply calls the contents of the furnace "Ren Dan".

Because the main material of this human pill was harmful to the "harmony of nature", Gluttony did not dare to make a big move when refining the pill, and only dared to start with the dead. At the beginning, he was very painstaking.

It was not until recent years that the progress of Ren Dan accelerated, relying on the "Xiao Huan Dan" to hook various forces in Myanmar to welcome and send corpses on the ground.

At this moment, Gluttony has the right time and energy, relying on Feng Shui to attract the right place, and the harmony of all living beings. He believes that it will take another ten years for the elixir to be successful.

When the time comes, once a pill is taken into the stomach, immortality and prosperity will be guaranteed for all.

The future is bright, isn't it?
Therefore, in order to make medicine for it, it has collected countless corpses over the past seven or eight years, but it is reluctant to eat even a single piece of human flesh.

But it never thought that even though it was so timid that it only dared to attack dead people, it would still be targeted by others.

At this moment, the human pill has not yet been fully developed, but its life is already hanging by a thread.

If I don’t take the pill now, I’m afraid I won’t be able to eat it in the future.

……

Gluttony flew to the side of the Cloud Pillar Alchemy Furnace, which was over ten meters high. A flash of reluctance flashed across his eyes, and then he kicked open the lid of the furnace and stuck his head inside.

With a peck of its beak and a hook of its tongue, it swallowed the huge purple-striped demon pill directly into its stomach.

"what!!!"

The moment he overate, he felt the evil in his body constantly colliding, and the innate Qi was also rushing left and right.

This human elixir requires fifty pieces of "spiritual flesh", twenty pieces of spiritual herbs, and a certain amount of various materials such as licorice, green wood fragrance, cinnabar, stalactite, mica, mercury, gold, etc. every day.

The spiritual flesh and spiritual herbs must be hung in the furnace for seven days before the blood and flesh impurities can be burned away, leaving only the circular "innate qi".

It is understandable that one would encounter evil energy if he took the elixir carelessly, but why is the innate qi so violent?
Gluttony felt like it couldn't breathe and was about to burst.
